As promised, I am planning to start deleting old threads soon-ish.
I haven't finalized the exact timings, but in the future, I'm thinking 1 year for the Fanime parts, and 90 days for the non-Fanime parts. Maybe more, maybe less. It's a balance between "keeping things tidy for new members" versus "losing important information".
In any event, we're going to start a Hall of Fame.
If there's a thread that's especially funny or poignant or awesome, and it should be preserved forever, you can nominate here. If it's accepted (via a complex process on the same level as a "coin flip"), it will stay in the Hall of Fame, forever.
More guidelines: With each submission, you need to explicitly state why this thread should be preserved for all time. A couple of sentences is fine.
I am not looking for threads that are merely "large", "good", "old", or "interesting". The Hall of Fame is a quality, not a quantity effort The Hall of Fame is for threads that are "exceptionally awesome" "epic" "has appeal to those who are not in the main cliques" etc.
Also, for a thread to qualify for the Hall of Fame, it would look better if it had more than one vote in favor of it.
Submissions that do not qualify for the Hall of Fame will go to the sister forum, the Hall of Shame, the place where failed nominations go. So nominate carefully.

Ugh. Okay, this is my fault for not clarifying the rules. The number of posts in a thread is not important. The Hall of Fame is a quality, not a quantity effort. With each submission, you need to explicitly state why this thread should be preserved for all time.I am not looking for threads that are merely "large", "good", "old", or "interesting". The Hall of Fame is for threads that are "exceptionally awesome" "epic" "has appeal to those who are not in the main cliques" etc. Also, for a thread to qualify for the Hall of Fame, it would look better if it had more than one vote in favor of it. I still say that old gathering threads are really important because they preserve our treasured memories of the places we've been and the times we've had.
They also tend to be full of embarassing photos.

I'd like to declare "old gathering" threads as a special case.
Perhaps I'll create a separate "Photo Album" subforum of past gathering threads for this reason.
I do not feel that the gathering threads qualify as "epic" "exceptionally awesome", etc. for the purposes of Hall of Fame enshrinement, though.

I figured it's worth making one.

I wouldn't mind the gatherings being preserved, but that's only because one of them(the 2nd t-shirt gathering) was the first forum gathering I've ever attended.
The Brotherhood is definitely getting my vote btw for the same reasons.

I'd like to nominate "Sample Budget (For people who are still trying to figure it out) Version 2.0!!" http://forums.fanime.com/index.php/topic,9513.0.html thread for the HoF. There is a ton of information about developing a budget for FanimeCon, which can be very useful for prospective con attendees for future cons.

Though, is it allowed even though I'm the thread author? lol.

I take it you don't browse the list of forums. I forgot about this. I still have the report email somewhere. Founding member of the Hall of Shame! Even if you're the thread author, if you nominate because it's excellent, I'll go with it. And there it is. Founding Hall of Fame member. However, once it goes to the Hall of Fame, it's locked and cannot be updated. You'll have to start another thread for discussion.

I'd like to nominate a thread of mine. If anything just for the sheer annoyance it caused... Also, it could be in the Hall of Shame or the Hall of Fame... Or even just stick it in both. http://forums.fanime.com/index.php/topic,8635.0.html
