What would you like the FanimeCon Twitter updates to be mainly about?

Panel time changes?
Video room time changes?
Guest related changes?
Overall convention information?
Announcements?
All of the above.

Follow FanimeCon! This year, we're making use of Twitter in addition to our regular info desk updates. Get any last minute schedule changes, con broadcasts, and more sent straight to your mobile phone throughout the event. Make an account on twitter.com, add your mobile device, and then add FanimeCon to your friend stream.

If you're checking up on the con via the website, we'll also have our latest "tweets" posted HERE and on the TV screens around the San Jose Convention Center so you won't miss a thing.

Hiya,
With the new year of FanimeCon, I wanted to get a better grasp of how you (our members) feel our Twitter account should be used for. Currently, it was used for updates on panels and guest events (time and location changes), but I wanted to see if there was anything that we missed. :)

how about using it now to let people know when the website is updated?  I noticed it hasn't been used in over 200 days.

Good idea. AX is doing that as well.
Fanime cosplays (if I can make it..!)
Snowtrooper (Star Wars)
Greed (FMA)
Random pirate
Kurosaki Isshin (working on it now)

Yes, yes. With our website receiving more and more content, I'm starting to update it more. I'm always hesitant about updating it because we do have people that get the updates on their cell phones and I don't want to A) flood their phones outside of the convention (even though they can turn this feature off), B) send them messages at night (which is when I'm generally up).

I'll try to send out "Tweets" every once in a while when stuff is updated (obviously when big events happen like "GoHs are announced").

The more information, the better. I wouldn't mind a "tweet" from time to time before the convention, but during the con I want to be up-to-date on everything.

During the convention, the Twitter account is handed to our Panels team who will mainly update it with information about panels and whatnot.

Well I just got on Twitter and I'm addicted to it now, so I look forward to it

I was wondering if during the con, if the twitter could be used to update about any changes to the gathers?  I know the gatherings aren't offical fanime events but it would be nice to recieve this kind of info at con.

I'm sure that MPLe will chime in, but it may just make more sense to make a twitter for the gathering. Tweeting an announcement that 500 people will get but only 2 or 3 will need may not be appropriate.

Unfortunately, I would prefer to not send Tweets to numerous people about unofficial events. Along with that, there are so many unofficial gatherings and events that are similar, that I would hate to provide updates for one event and not another.

Hi, have a question...
I have HootSuite which allows me to pre-schedule tweets.
So far, I've thrown in a ton of pre-scheduled tweets involving FanimeCon, most of them reminders of things like the Dealers Hall and Artists Alley opening, or half an hour reminders of events like the Karaoke Contest and Charity Auction.
I'm just wondering of any of this would conflict with the actual FanimeCon Twitter Account.
Please let me know before con so that if there is a conflict I can delete most of them (the only one I would leave in is a reminder for a meetup to pickup Forum Badges).

5/21 Update: If I don't get a response, I'm assuming either no one can answer or I'm given the green light. Then again my pre-scheduled Tweets only include events that are definitely locked-in like the Karaoke Contest, Charity Auction, and Masquerade - I don't have Tweets announcing panels as those can change.

(I apologize for missing this post)

Please don't assume that you are given the green light unless specifically told that you are. With that said, what you do with your own personal Twitter is perfectly fine. If you were to try to create an unofficial FanimeCon, Twitter account, that's when we would have to step in and ask you to stop. :)

Mid-con, lots of things don't go as expected, guests have flights delayed, stuck somewhere else, time conflicts, random technical issues...
So plans will have to be changed. I think knowing these changes right after they happen are ideal to all con-goers. We can stay in the know!

This can also let us know when to do things. Like "Dealer's Hall closing in 2 hours" will let us know to scurry over there and give everything one more look.

Or "XYZ's autograph session starts at XX:XX" So we'll know when to line up. <--I saw this this year, awesome. XD

I looove Twitter. It's so easy to use...and keeps me updated about everything. Getting text from Fanimecon is just awesome. I don't mind getting tweets every now and then about Fanimecon. I actually keep my device updates off the entire year.

Except for four days.

I bet you can guess when those four days are. :>

I wanted to let everyone know here that the Fanime Cosplayer Gatherings and Cosplayer Events are on their own twitter account. The info is for Friends Only so you will need to be added. This is my way for my department to "Go Green" and let peeps know the info every hour on the upcoming 1/2 hour and hours events. Info flow is one way... we don't follow you unless I know you and/or on staff with my department.
