Cross posted from the other thread.

I actually agree with this. Some of the moderators seem to have no clue as to how to move sh*t around, namely, ones who dig up threads for like 2 years ago to their "appropriate" place when no one has posted in them for a very long time. Some, were actually good where they were but unnecessarily moved to /b/ for absolutely no reason.

This is a fair comment, and something like this has been in my head.

First, I will note that I've given no guidance on "when to move to byo/b/".  So, please do not blame the mods; you can blame me for not having a policy in place.

More important, I'm debating whether to allow such moves in the future.
My feeling is that most threads that turn into crap should just be left to fall off the page.  Maybe they need to be locked first to encourage this.
However, there's a small percentage of threads where the derail is actually entertaining.  I'm debating to allow mods to declare something like "This derail is fun.  Keep it up.  Officially, byo/b/ rules apply from this point on." and keep the thread in the main board.  Or they can move it to byo/b/

I'm not entirely sure on this one yet.

should byo/b/ be instated on threads, the thread title should be changed to indicate as such. It should also be at the discretion of the mod when the thread detracts from the particular forum. A mod may move it to byo/b/ at that time.

I've already said what I have to say about the new mod. Some of the new mods make unnecessary mistakes/stupid mistakes and move threads without giving their movement real thought.

This is closer to a meaningful reply; thank you.

I'll go into the line-by-line.
The "who is ignoring me" thread deserved exactly the fate it got.  It was a horrible starting post.  Most of the replies were of varying levels of ridicule; exactly none were serious.  Then again, the opening wasn't serious, so I see no loss.
As I see it, it could have been locked while it was in "Things in the Universe"; instead, it was moved to byo/b/.  Given the number of cute puppy replies it received, especially after it was unlocked, I see no problem with this.

If you have questions about why certain threads were moved to byo/b/, examples would be nice.  However, I've not provided guidelines on this particular angle, so I would recommend that people withhold criticism in that regard.

If you have ideas on guidelines on when to move, etc. this may be a good place to talk about it.  Assuming those involved create quality and meaningful posts.

I'm going to post this based on experiences of modding other forums, you don't have to care or listen to this at all.

Mods are putting to much into what they "think" and not what is happening. Mods are moving threads because "it MIGHT turn bad" or "it MIGHT get off topic". As mods, really, you shouldn't be doing much. You only intervene when things are taken too far. That's what a mod is... a moderator, not a god that tells us where and how to walk. Mods here are too eager to do things really. And frankly, none of them really know how to moderate. Sure, they aren't bias'd enough to just do what they want, but they really don't know how to moderate things. They take too much initiative instead of trusting in the forum members to mediate within themselves. When people do take things too far, then by all means, that's when Mods should step in. A lot of Leslie's posts are stupid and the ignore thread did deserve to be in /b/. That was fine. When a thread posted in General, belongs in Cosplay, a mod should move it. But when a thread in Things in the Universe is moved to /b/ just because a mod THINKS it might turn bad, then something is wrong.

This hasn't been a huge issue really to be honest. If anything, mods aren't moving threads that should be moved, and are moving threads that don't really matter. The other mod issue I will deal with in the other thread.
