Valve cosplay gathering 2011!

I'm working on the Ambassador, Sapper, and Butterfly knife for my Spy cosplay. Also a sniper rifle and a kukri for my friend's Sniper cosplay. Mostly everything is close to the painting stage. But projects and homework from classes are screwing with my prop making time

Other outfits have presented themselves to me, so sadly I will not be cosplaying Sniper. I'll be sure to take pics of you guys though.

Do it! Post 'em all, I love seeing props and WIPs. I've only seen a handful of Ambassadors, too, so good job taking on a monster.

I'll share mine as well since it's finally at a somewhat presentable stage. It's a bit crudely put together in the photos, as nothing is permanently attached yet so I can spray paint it once I get around to doing that.

Stands about 46" (In the game, it's about 56" assuming that Solly is 6' exactly. I'm 5'5" and a bit petite so I made it to better fit my size)

Trying to get long muted black fake nails for my Hunter Cosplay, and I have  Urban Camo pants (working on getting the BDU shirt) and welding goggles if I decided to swap to the Engineer.

Wildcat shade 5s. Since I do a lot of Oxy-Acetelyne stuff already I'm just going to use the set that I have already.

Basically I'm doing my take on this guy:

Because of how cheap I am I'm not getting a combat helmet and am instead using an Urban Camo BDU service cap. I'm going to see if my uncle has an old heavy combat vest from when he served in Vietnam and use that as a stand in for the PCV armor. Barring that I might chop up my old alice pack into a vest of some sort. Or use that for the Oxy-Acetylene rig harness.

Ok guys now that some gatherings have been officially been put up we need to hammer out a time and get on the list asap!


The three big gatherings on Sunday are at 11, 12, and 3

So, are we looking at 1, 2, 4 or later?

I personally like maybe 1:30 because it gets Naruto enough time to move to their picnic (And the Naruto gathering NEVER lasts JUST one hour) and us and hour and a half to do things before Shonen Jump comes in. Plus, I'd rather we all meet up early in the day so we can like ambush each other throughout the day and con afterwards. (We'd be much more likely to interact spontaneously if we've all already hung out.)


What's everyone's 2 cents?

Well, that sounds like fun but I was thinking more like just earlier in the day on the Sunday then late afternoon/early evening. Plus Sunday is the Black and White ball and Music Fest day.

I must, regrettably, inform the Valve gathering people that I will not be making it to Fanime this year. While I'm not the most accurate Freeman, I hope to have, by next year, some sort of HEV Suit. I apologize to those who were looking forward to seeing a Freeman of any kind and apologize for any inconvenience I may have caused.

AND.....I have exciting news! I finally sewed my costume!!!!!!!!! YAY I stopped procrastinating...3 months in advance..... not sure if that's still procrastinating but yeah! I wish I could put pictures up but that would give away my cosplay... T-T I'm not sure I'm ready to announce it...

Gonna hit the Home Depot today and gety some materials to make the Oxy-fuel rig for the Engineer.

If it works out I'm going to cosplay the HECU engi, I just haven't decided if I'll cosplay him for the gathering or not.

Valve's been doing a bunch of updates to Portal, including changing the ending of Portal slightly, as well as adding in a new achievement involving the radios. The sound files in the updates can be converted into ASCII images pertaining to Portal and Half Life 2.


I swear to god if Gabe is just screwing with us....dammit I dunno what I'll do..
