question about karaoke contest

I've been reading through the the karaoke event, but I've only managed to see that the date is friday. I'm not into the contest ordeal, and this will be my first time actually attending fanime. I was just wondering if there is just a karaoke day where you can just sing for fun and not deal with the contest (yes i've always saw the acoustic karaoke event as well, but i don't feel comfortable playing an instrument). Also, looking at the events in general, I don't see any other dates for the other events. Is there an internet panel around that I'm too blind to notice? I hope some of these questions will be answered, and thank you for whoever answers them for me. <3

there are times for open-mic
and they will be listed in the schedule
from what ive heard: the schedule won't be up until the week before con i think..
but keep checkin the website

my advice for u: is to sign up as early as u can
but u can sign up, and wait up to 3 or more hours until u sing
u can only sign up once every so often so to let others sing as well
or u can just stay int he room and wait it out
its usually in ballroom C and the times vary
i kno that they will have open mic both saturday and sunday
but again..check the schedule when it comes out for the specific timing
