Ok, me and Bart discussed this last night and we're planning this out 2 months in adavance. There will be a Gourmet Race Gathering again(Thanks to Jerry for the suggestion). It'll take place October 2, 2010, time and location to be determined. If we do this, I want you guys to show up, hang out and willing to participate if your stomach can handle it lol. Old school members and new members are welcome to join us for this. I threw some ideas last night since we already did american(Cattleman's), Japanese(Sushi Factory), and Italian(Bucca di Beppo). My ideas were Thai, Chinese, and Salvadorean. Throw your ideas in here and whatever gets the most votes, that's what we'll do. All right, Let's do this :D

Sweet, I'm up for it; to attend and to participate in the gourmet.

My suggestion is the Hellfire Challenge (a.k.a. 911 Challenge) at Smokeeaters in Santa Clara or San Jose, as seen on Man vs Food.
It can be Fanimafia vs Food

oh geez, the 911 chicken again? id rather NOT  :P

my vote would be for Sushi Factory in south san jose.
winner doesnt pay for the all you cant eat, and losers pitch in to pay for themselves and the winner-

you may also want to start a facebook invite page too, since not everyone surfs the forums like they used to.
I can easily think of a few ppl on facebook who are old fanimafia peeps that might be interested to go.

I didn't know you guys did Smokeeaters already. And I'm pretty sure once in a lifetime is enough.
Other suggestions? Hm...
-Iguanas and the Burritozilla
-Deep-Fry-Anything cooking challenge
-In-N-Out X by X (roll a d20, heh heh)
-Olive Garden Never-Ending Pasta
-another kind of extreme food that's the ???est

I'm up for anything, including Sushi Factory. What were the 'rules' for it again?

Barnes

I just learned that Spirit of Japantown (San Jose) is also on Oct 2nd. Maybe we could find a place there for a food challenge.
No?

I might be able to attend later in the evening unless something comes up.

Sushi and the deep-fry thing sound good.
Spirit of Japantown sounds fun but I'm not sure if it works well for food challenges...

Depending on the timing--- olive garden has its never ending pasta bowl
$10/person + tax/tip
[but the wait times and crowds are horrible unless your okay with being VERY patient for a table]

Red lobster has its endless shrimp
$20/person + tax/tip
[these places arent as a bad for wait time and depends if u like shrimp--- plus cheddar biscuits!!!]

All you can eat sushi
$30/person + tax/tip
[various places pricey but very worth it!]

and this is all assuming that I'm Free on Oct the 2nd because I'm taking night and weekend courses starting next monday the 20th and it goes for about 3 weeks...

I say we do the all-you-can-eat sushi, since we've done that before. I'm with Jerry too that I have class on Saturday, but am free after 4pm.
EDIT: We might need to do that in the evening anyway because the Spirit of Japantown Festival ends at 5pm (for anyone that's going).

If this is still happening, I'll be able to go after my class that day; and after all of the Spirit of Japantown stuff. Most likely there won't be a gourmet race at the festival itself.

We all can meet up around 6pm-ish at Sushi Factory then go from there.

Jerry

is this still going on? Amazingly i think i have a mini break from my classes.

and it would be fun to hang out with old familiar faces and have mountains of food to nom on.

Most of the old fogeys, should have my cell number, text or call me in case i miss any posts from here and on the day/night of the event if this happens.

also as a review. ALL three all you can eat promos are still going on:
never ending pasta
all you can eat shrimp
and always AYCE sushi.

Ok....me and Bart discussed it right now, sorry for the really late reply. Ok...we've chosen all you can eat pasta from The Olive Garden. Is that cool with everyone? and also, it'll be after the spirit of japantown festival. so don't eat a lot if you go to that and participate in the event. The nearest one is at this location: Olive Garden, San Jose CA Location So we will meet there after 5 p.m, when the festival ends. Spread the word around. IF YOU NEED RIDES, PLEASE ASK THROUGH PM, THANKS. :D See ya at the restaurant.

Hopefully I don't fill up on breadsticks (if they still give them out)

Once again, this conflicts with a tourney I'm running.  Guess I'm out.
