Quote from: "radiotomu"Is there any possible way to volunteer to work before the con begins, or is setup reserved for the staff?

IIRC, There's setup and cleanup work before and after the con. There's also swag bag stuffing before the con as well. Also, if you know someone on staff, have them introduce you to the head and see if you can volunteer or become staff that way.

by setup, do you mean set up all the tables in the dealer room or what?
no really, i have a pet ninja.

Crazed Mech

I helped setup last year. (the day before the con)
The dealers toke care of there tables.

I help setup some of the projecter screens in the videos rooms.
But mostly it was get the mics, speckers, ect to the video rooms and
the panel rooms.
It was a lot of running around getting things where they need to
be but it was worth it.

I got half of my hours need for the pre-regester refund done.
(Read below to find out how)

Then I just Voluntered every so often to finish up over the corse of
the con.

[If you Volunter the day before the con they'll double the time you ]
acualy worked.
(Pre-Con)
1 hour of Vol = 2 hours
[5 hours = 10 hours of vol work]

:!: BUT!!!!! I'm DON'T know if there doing it again. :!:

Could one off the Officals verify if there doing it again

HamSTA

You don't have to be 18 to volunteer.. But if you're under 18, you need to get a volunteer form signed by your parent or guardian.

I'll be glad to help if any staff members need it. I don't need any con-hours or whatever but as long as I'm not watching in a room or shopping, I can spare some time.  :D

PogiChoie

I can definitely help!  I'll do ANYTHING you guys want me to do, especially if it has anything to do with running stuff to people or helping set-up rooms and audio equipment...  ^_^

If you do become a volunteer, is it okay if you attend the LAST TWO IMPORTANT AS HECK meetings when you didn't show up for all the other ones? I know the other meetings were basically planning and get-to-know-you sort of things, but I couldn't make it.

(I curse my lack of drivers...)

Zain

Volunteers actually aren't required to attend the last two meetings. But, they don't get any of the perks that staff do.

If you want to be on staff, you absolutely positively HAVE to be at the packet stuffing meeting. If you kept in touch with your department head and he forwards meeting summaries to you, then you don't really have to attend most of the meetings... But if you're on staff, be at the packet stuffing meeting!

EDIT: There is an 80% chance that there will be NO packet stuffing meeting. We'll have a mandatory staff meeting instead.

Oh, everyone else is welcome to come too. Free food if you work  :P
