Ok so I'm sure everyone who has ever been in Artist Alley at any convention has seen the pipe display structures artists use to hang their merchandise from. I'm still relatively new to selling at conventions, so I'm at a loss on how to make such a thing, especially now that the convention is getting closer.

So can anyone explain to me exactly how to make one? I know it may sound simple to you, but I tend to over-think things like this. <_<''

This is going to be my first time too (if I get approved *Crosses fingers*) to doing something like this and I want to make a great impression! So last year I've saw some people using some kind of clamp with a rod and builing this frame with piping. One person told me they bought it at Home Depot but I haven't had any luck finding such a thing. It's a great way to get your art up high to draw attention. Can anyone "HELP" me in finding what I'm searching for? The name of it or a place where to buy it.

Most people I know (myself included) uses these. http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-100011109/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 :) I'm not exactly sure about the size (mini or regular? or if you want 4.5 inch or 6 inch but if I remember correctly, the mini size fits well into 1" piping.) Piping and connectors (for the frame's corners) can be easily found at home depot for cheap.

Also, this thread from 4chan archives is pretty useful. http://4chanarchive.org/brchive/dspl_thread.php5?thread_id=2881197&x=Artist+Alley#2884993

But if you're wary about clicking on things that say "4chan" haha, or if you don't want to sift through a lot of posts, then here's a couple of the pictures from the thread. The first picture is what most people use (and what I've quoted), and the second is someone else's design that doesn't need any clamps and sounds to be still very sturdy.

Good luck! I hope that helped.

Thank you! That does help. :] Do you know how large our displays can be? I know the tables are 6" by 2", but how much space do we have behind us? I don't plan on making a ginormous display, but I figure I should know how much space I have before I go off to buy stuff. lol

Don't plan on there being a lot of space behind you, sorry! You'll likely have another artist behind you, as the tables are generally set up to be facing away from each other for every 2 rows. It's usually a good idea not to store anything behind you (but rather under the tables) so as to provide for more walking space in-between the 2 rows of tables. If you have one of the PVC pipe displays, I don't think you need to worry about using any space behind your table, though! :)

Also, your display can also technically be as tall as you want it to be, but remember, if it falls, that's bad!
