If you guys missed Sony's E3 press conference, here's a little summary of what was covered:

-PS4 does NOT have limits on used games, nor has online-check ins.
-PS4 is priced at $399, compared to XboxOne that is priced at $499.
- A lot of good indie games coming out (which are very neat and good for the indie devs)
- Final Fantasy versus XIII is now officially Final Fantasy XV
- Kingdom Hearts 3 revealed (teaser trailer)
- Destiny gameplay
- Watch Dogs gameplay
- ACIV: Black Flag gameplay

Personally, I'm stoked for the PS4. They pretty much learned their lesson from the PS3-era, and has made a grand comeback. :)

I am, likewise, very excited for the PS4.

Especially for FFXV!

Sony basically owned Microsoft today...I feel a little bad for XBOne...!?

The Xbone has basically killed itself, so the PS4 is on my radar.  But I wanna see how it compares to the Steam Box.

I forgot about E3 until I saw the barrage of Killer Instinct posts on Facebook. There's soo many blogs and news around the net now saying PS4 "won".

It's not much of an accomplishment when your rival shoots itself, which started before E3 (last month).  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbWgUO-Rqcw

Well, back then nobody expected what Sony would do. I think Sony planned their business model right for the PS4 after the announcement of the XboxOne a month ago, which is really smart!

Final Score:

Xbox - 1, Playstation - 4

:p

I've been somewhat interested in the PS4 since I heard of its future release- but this kinda kills the mood...

I think this guy literally said industry trends that we've known about for past 5 years.

Literally none of this does nothing to un-hype anything.

There is a reason this video has 66% dislikes.

Everyone in the game industry has basically been saying that we need a new console to keep up with technology in gaming and a hardware to accompany all the changes that have been made to PSN and XBL over 8 years.

He's just complaining about standardization among triple A titles, and not commenting on the growing indie developer toolkits.

Like my current PC is more powerful then the Next Gen Consoles.
I don't understand why people would buy a Console over a PC beyond exclusive titles...

Price, Community, Exclusive Titles, and Apathy.

To be able to buy something and know that it will work with your console, rather than hoping your specs are good enough, is usually the reason.

I think renalcul covered the major stuffs. PC gaming requires more investment than a console, mainly because normally you'd build or buy a perfect gaming PC to run high-end games.

That leads to the point that consoles is somewhat a more viable option to players who don't have the money or time to invest in PC gaming. And also, certain games work well better on a console than on a PC.

For example, you won't see much fighting games on a PC especially on high-level tournaments. Games like Metal Gear, Hitman, and AC are much more convenient to play on a console due to the familiarity and convenience of the controls. The reverse is true for PC gaming: if you play an RTS game like CIV, Red Alert, Diablo III, you will have a hard time because those games are based on a lot of micro and macromanagement which requires you to use a keyboard and a mouse. FPS games also runs better and has more good players on the PC.

But in the end, it's really up to the players what they want to decide. Everyone has their own reasons, and I think that console/PC elitism irrelevant to enjoying whatever game you want to play on what system you want it to be on.

Unfortunately, no. You'd think it would be but at this point you can't even play the PS3 digital games you've downloaded on the PS4. (They should be updating it so you can do that later on, but no specifics have been given.)  Moar info heer: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-switch/wp/2013/11/15/playstation-4-cant-play-old-games-but-backward-compatibility-was-just-a-fad/

To be able to buy something and know that it will work with your console, rather than hoping your specs are good enough, is usually the reason.

Price
True you would be investing a decent amount of money on the PC itself, but you save a lot of money overall from the deals you can get on games. Sales go on all the time, like Steam Sales, which you can save 50% or even more on major titles after they have only been released for several months. Hell, if you like CoD (not sure why you would though), it was already on sale for ~20% off recently on steam.

Community
As a general rule, I avoid associating with gameing communities on acount that they are filled with a majority of 15 year old hyper competitive teenagers. But even so, PC does have a community. There is steam in general, which I would say has much better tools then the consoles for facilitating the community. Beyond that most games regardless of platform have communities of there own.

Exclusive Titles
PC has Exclusive Titles as well. Hell, we effectively have exclusive titles that cannot function on consoles without watering the games down. We also have the ability to mod games without worrying about being banned, and the communities that create these mods. Mods can enhance games and make them completely diffrent from the original. Vanillia Minecraft is all but unplayable for me now that I have the ability to make Nuclear Reactors and create intricate pipe systems for transporting items, energy, and fuel.

Apathy
Really I would also feel the same way about consoles.

Specs
At this point in time there are few if any games releasing that are going to be exceeding your hardware unless it is more then a few years old. Overall the consoles hold back the need for super high specs for PC games as many developers now work with crossplatform titles. I can rely on my PC to last me a few years at least with this in mind. When the even does come that I would need better specs, I could always upgrade or buy an entire new rig. If I did, my old PC would still have value beyond being a big paper weight, as I can use it for many other applications.
Consoles do have a similar problem though. You wont be able to play PS4 games on your PS3. A PC may sometimes run into issues of Hardware incompatability, but that is actually a bit rare (I personally with my massive game library have never experienced this).
