Oriental or chicken, either is great. ^__^

I couldn't help but post in this thread since instant ramen is an important staple in any college student's diet.

I have to say that oriental ramen is my favorite, no question about it.  Chicken, beef, and shrimp are all good too but they just lack the awsome power that is oriental flavoring.

You're talking about one of the main staples of my diet! Any kind of the chicken ramens are great. I've been leaning more towards the spicey one now that I work with a bunch of really nice hispanic ladies. After eating their food everything tastes bland!

I prefer the chicken ramen because the flavor blends best with all the stuff I add in (extra veggies, more meat, hot sauce, hot sauce, etc.).  I'll be watching to see how this fits into Fanime.  Unless (can I make a guess?) we're going to have a Naruto marathon of sorts.  I'll be sure to bring my hashi.

Croquet

There are Ramen flavors outside that instant freeze-dried ramen matter? I was totally unaware of that! Seriously, though I'd figure normal ramens may exist....I just did not think it through...
Anywho, chicken ramen is best because it tastes best uncooked. mmm...nothing better than the stale crunch of uncooked ramen!
Let's play
some Croquet!

CHICKEN! XD I don't eat any but that. @_@  Well.. except for that one I had a friend's house... that had egg in it.. but I don't know what that is! *flails*

I believe oriental flavor is basically ginger powder, garlic powder, coriander, salt, pepper, and maybe some cayenne peper. (not totally sure though).

For anyone interested,  making ramen soup from scratch isn't all that hard (at least a simple one).  The only premade stuff I eat is cup of noodle when I'm somewhere I can't cook.  All you really need to do is have chicken stock, (or beef, or try a seaweed base) water, dried spices, store bought chinese egg noodles (or make them yourself), and whatever vegetables/meat you want to put in.  It takes maybe 5 mins more or so to make it yourself, but It'll taste 10 times better (do a soft poached egg and yummmmmmy).   Of course, nothing beats having it all made for you  :D

Oh yeah, if I had to choose out of the top ramen selection, I choose Oriental flavor.

Dang, now I've got to go shopping.  Thank goodness I'm five minutes from a Ranch 99 grocery mart.  Of course they're closed now, I'll go to Chinatown tomorrow.

I remember having a salad that was basically lettuce, cooked chicken, sesame seed, almonds and crushed uncooked top ramen.  Yeah, sounds weird but it tasted good.

You can never go wrong with beef.

My favorite (i dont' think you guys have it here) is the korean style mixed noodle, with that bean sauce. It's very good.

"Oriental and Teriyaki Chicken" are my faves.
Hmmm Ramen....I'm eating it right now....heh, heh.

Nam Tok Beef!

And a lot of other Thai flavors.

The best ramen requires multiple packets of flavoring, in my humble opinion.

Hmmm, *strokes chin* interesting..... Must try >.<

I like experimenting with instant ramen. I think my best so far is uncooked broken-up ramen in strawberry milk and a few spoonfuls of sugar, using chopsticks to dunk it in strawberry cream cheese frosting.... Yeah, I know, more on the cereal side than ramen... But it's so sugary!!! *drool*

As far as actual cooked ramen, I'd have to say chicken XD

Sugary ramen cereal... um... must contemplate, and then decide to pretend I've never heard of such a thing.

But before I create a monster:
As a word of caution, I didn't mean that you ought to use additional seasoning packets, that you saved or produced from elsewhere, but rather that the most interesting-tasting ramen usually comes with multiple packets: in the case of many of the fine Thai flavors, these consist of the standard spice n' bullion pack, a packet of dried chilis, and a packet of chili oil.

Doubling up on regular Maruchan chicken powder is just a recipe for salty, salty disaster, I think.  But hey, knock yerself out, maybe literally.   :o

Oriental IMO is the best, indeed.

But what exactly is Oriental flavor? Is it just a blend of random stuff from the Orient area? Or does it pull a Chicken/Beef/Pork/Shrimp thing and is made of orientals? (Just kidding...;))

that's the only confusing thing in the ramen world...that, and why they don't have oriental flavored cup ramen.
