http://peoplesrecords.net/POPLAR/index_fix.html

If you go to the LIVE page it roughly translates (sorry my Japanese is kinda horrible...):
Quote
May 26 (FRI) ~ 29 (SUN) - US West Coast Tour [Fanimecon Festival]
Simultaneously, a scheduled performance at a San Francisco club.

OMG, I'm so bad at kanji o_o;;;

Swinging Popsicle

However, I couldn't find any info on this one, sadly. :(  Anyone have any?

Band #2! Poplar will be the first japanese hip hop/rap group to come to America.. and Fanime got them first ^_^

Band #3! They're slightly on the Pop side of the house, but they remind me of Sixpence None the Richer..

Clue for the next three:

#4 -- Rock group. They did some of the soundtrack for an anime that rocks and is not currently liscenced.. Out of the six, this is the one I'm most excited about!

#5 Pop Group -- Two girls named Ai

#6 Rock Group -- They're part of a genre that I think is called No Katakana, meaning that all of their lyrics are in kanji and hiragana (aka no foreign words).

*returns and stabs someone*

well, i cannot wait to find out who it is, anyway! :D

I feel very tempted to "guess" but it wouldn't be fun. Anyways, I am excited about the bands coming this year as well. No doubt it'll be an awesome show. I think everyone's gonna have something they like.

It seems that the band has appeared in "BECK" in Japan. The anime. Found some Swinging Popsicle samples here. These guys must be pretty big becasue if you search for them they come up everywhere.

Jrockfan

Ooops. I meant that Guitar Vader appeared in "BECK" not Swinging popsicle.

Whoo hoo~!! Thanks  :D

And I foundthe other 3, but I think I'll let everyone else guess, since it was pretty fun to search for them.

Shinigami

lol it's so easy to find the bands if you search for it. But yeah, I know all six bands, but I won't ruin it for other people, unless you want me to, I'll PM you.

Eri

The #4 band I'm excited about did music for Beck... Guitar Vader did one song, but they're more known for being a part of the Jet Set Radio soundtrack as well as a couple of other sony things...

But... There is one site where you can find info/samples of all the bands.. All six are on the same record label in Japan ^_^

Is http://www.japanfiles.com the record label? I found all of the bands on there. Listening to the samples I would say that the concert this year will be higher quality than last years. I'm not bashing Ramen and Rice but it's nice to see more ACTUAL bands this time around. Of course I haven't seen any of these bands live so I don't know. I'm looking forward to seeing Guitar Vader now though. Good work FANIME! :D  :D  :D
