Title: An Cafe concert tickets
Post by: jemz on May 12, 2008, 12:11:19 AM
Hello everyone!

Tony and I just finished finalizing most of the details to FanimeCon's MusicFest schedule for An Cafe!

The concert for An Cafe is a free, ticketed event to all who have a paid badge.

We have a total of 3,000 attendance tickets for the An Cafe concert, 100 for the reception, and 100 for the autograph session. All tickets are free with membership!

Tickets will be distributed at the San Jose Convention Center in the Registation area during the hours listed on the MusicFest website (http://www.fanime.com/musicfest/schedule.html). If there are tickets still left on Sunday, they will be distributed at the doors at the Civic Auditorium.

Only a certain number of tickets will be distributed per day. That way there are still some tickets left for people coming later in the weekend.

If you registered with a valid An Cafe promo code ("ancafeprelaunch", "ancafe", and "ACCC"), a ticket will be reserved for you until Friday evening. After we finish distributing tickets Friday evening, any tickets that have not been picked up will be released for others to pick up.

You must pick up your badge before you can get a ticket. You may not pick up a ticket for someone else. There are three types of tickets (concert, reception, and autograph) and you can get up to one of each. You can request all three types at pick-up. Pick-up is first come, first serve.

To be very specific, tickets may be picked up at the Registration area at the Box Office on the Hilton side. There will be a designated area where you may line up. There will be Info Booths scattered around the convention that you can stop at and ask for directions or information.

For the hours, the ticketing breakdown, please look at the MusicFest website (http://www.fanime.com/musicfest/schedule.html) for more information.

The MusicFest staff, Tony, and I all hope to see everyone who is coming at the concert and have a good time!

I registered before the promotional code for an cafe is up.  How can I reserve tickets for An Cafe event?

Does that mean we have to line up to get the ticket to enter the concert if we don't have the ticket reserve?

I understand that you can't pick up someone else's ticket in addition to your own, but let's say what if a friend picked up their own ticket and decided to give it to me, would that be ok? Are names/badge numbers on the tickets or something? Thanks. ^^

for the thursday pick up does the "Reserved Ticket" stands for the reception and Autographs along with the concert?

Asides from the concert tickets, would general staff be eligible for any of the other two tickets?

And you pretty much have a system where you have to either have a full weekend badge for a Sunday badge(Monday badge for autographs) to get a ticket, right?

Do tickets have seat number or do we need to stand in line before the concert for seating?

Wow! So many questions! Okay, here are some answers. :D

I believe you can go back and enter the code on your registration until May 15th. After that date, the codes will be locked in and registration is closed.

If you don't have the code, you can still wait in line to pick up a ticket. :)

If they wanted to give you their ticket (which is totally transferrable), that's up to them if they are okay with it! Names and badge numbers are NOT on the ticket.

However, if they do want to go to the concert and gave their ticket to someone else, they cannot wait in line for another ticket.

Sorry, "Reserved Ticket" stands for the concert tickets only.

Sorry, General Staff is not eligible for the other two tickets. Tony and I are currently working on something else for staff.

Actually, those who only come in on Sunday will be able to get a concert ticket with their Sunday badge. We tried really hard to be fair to them as well as everyone else who bought a full weekend badge.

As for the other two events, it sorta worked out to be that way. You would have to have a full weekend badge to pick up the tickets and actually be able to go to them since we mark it against the badge number. Or you can just stand in a lot of long lines. :/  To me, it's better with a full weekend badge even if you are just coming in for Sun/Mon since it will only be $5 more than the single day badges combined.

Do tickets have seat number or do we need to stand in line before the concert for seating?

Tickets will have a seat number but we are not enforcing that. There is some standing room in front of the stage and then lots of seating all around. You can sit anywhere you want.

You will have to stand in line to get into the concert.

They are general seating. If you have a ticket, you WILL get in; if you want your choice of seats, or if you want to get to the front of the stage, you'll want to line up.

No, for reasons that will be explained on the staff list.  ;D

QuoteAnd you pretty much have a system where you have to either have a full weekend badge for a Sunday badge(Monday badge for autographs) to get a ticket, right?
I knew I forgot to mention something. Yes, you have to have a weekend badge of some type in order to get tickets before the day of the event. So you cannot register for Saturday only and get a ticket for the concert on Sunday.

Technically no; there won't be any reception or autograph tickets issued on a first-come, first-serve basis on Thursday. However! We'll be announcing some other ways to get those two kinds of tickets on the 15th. (They involve contests and drawings.)

There is some time to enter a code. If you can't enter it, or if you miss the Thursday or Friday pickup, you can still line up for a ticket.

Oh, I have a question regarding the tickets.

I want to go in and check out the concert, but I know that I won't be staying for the entire thing; maybe I'll see it for like, 20 minutes or so. Is the concert like a go-in-once-and-you-can't-come-out-unless-you-have-another-ticket, or is it like, you'll have your ticket during the concert and you can give it to someone else during the concert? I don't want to make people who come too late to get tickets to feel bad since I don't really know an cafe and I'd much rather it go to better use once I've checked it out...

Will it be alright if we pick up our badge and concert ticket on thurs. and come back for say an autograph ticket on Friday then? How will that work since we already got our badge?

Will there be a separate line for those that received their badge on Thursday and just want to get the autograph/reception ticket or will we have to line up with everyone else that is waiting for their badge?
I highly doubt we'd be able to just walk up to the counter to ask for it.

Btw, thanks for all the hard work. I appreciate it. >.<
I will also be there at the contests but I want to ask just in case and for some friends that may also pick up badges and tickets on that day.

The "reserved" tickets for those who have promo codes; Are only a certain amount of those being given out a day like the others? Or is it just, whoever has a promo code gets their tickets? I just want to confirm. ^^;;

Yep; you can try at each shift, if you want.

Of course, you can only get one of each type, so it's not like you could get a concert ticket on Saturday, then get another one on Sunday. (I don't think you asked that question, but I wanted to point it out anyway!)

There is a decent chance of getting in to the concert on Sunday, but both the autograph session and reception are, unfortunately, very difficult to get into...

There's no quota; whoever has a promo code can get a ticket on Thursday or Friday during the hours listed. We'll be giving out tickets for at least as long as is on the website. (Saturday, they disappear.)

Thanks for the fast reply to my first question. ^^ Just to clarify, since there seems to be mixed responses for this, are there two separate lines for badge registration and An Cafe ticket pickup? My plan is to pickup my badge and then the concert tickets(I entered in the ancafe promo code today) on Thursday, and then get the reception+autograph tickets Friday morning. It doesn't make much sense to have everyone who has their badge already stand in one combined line for badge reg and An Cafe tickets, if that makes any sense. ^^;

Press and Industry will have to proceed as attendees... typically we would give special access to press, but unfortunately there are a huge number of complications with that this year, and particularly with this event.

That's unfortunate for those of us who take music coverage very seriously.  We're coming from LA to cover this show and it sounds as though we're not going to be able to do much coverage.  I will have to discuss this with the rest of my group.

No camera/no video for the concert, at least; probably the same for autographs. As far as I know, you can line up at the ticket box office whenever you like - just be aware that SOS staff or the Police might ask you to disperse if there's a problem (like if you're setting up camp or blocking a fire exit  :P)

Press is pretty much out of luck, unfortunately... no slight against the Press, I really wish we could fill the place with people who want to talk about the convention, but again there are details that are making this problematic.

Sorry  :-[ we're still trying to get details from the band as to how they want to handle gifts. It looks more and more like we'll have a bin for drop-off at their events. My guess is that no one will be able to directly give a gift to the band, but I can't say for certain at this point.

I have a question about lining up aswell; I don't think it's been answered yet, and if so I just need clarification.

After the quota for reception/autograph tickets is met for the morning pickup of a particular day, will those lined up who did not get tickets be allowed to remain in line for the next opportunity, or will those lines be broken up until a later time?

Thanks in advance. <3

I know this is sort of a stupid question but what if we wanted to take pics why we waited in line? Is it at all possible for us to come with our cameras as long as we leave them in our bags? I can understand someone asking to take them if we took pictures during the concert but can we bring them for before and after part. I just don't want to bring it and then have to get out of line to put it away.

Is it unethical and how likely will it be successful if we try to bribe the incorruptible Musicfest staff for a ticket?

I might have a ring....or something shiny... a shiny bright extravagant special thing of silver

O:-) everybody smile, we are close to an awesome con with An Cafe!

Thanks for the fast reply to my first question. ^^ Just to clarify, since there seems to be mixed responses for this, are there two separate lines for badge registration and An Cafe ticket pickup? My plan is to pickup my badge and then the concert tickets(I entered in the ancafe promo code today) on Thursday, and then get the reception+autograph tickets Friday morning. It doesn't make much sense to have everyone who has their badge already stand in one combined line for badge reg and An Cafe tickets, if that makes any sense. ^^;
There are several different lines, actually! Basically, there are a few lines for registration, but only one line to pick up tickets. Make sure you pick up your registration (or register) before you hop into the ticketing line.
Will it be that way on thursday also then?
To line up in the registration line, and then line up in the ticket line?
Or is that just for Friday-Sunday registration?

Thats good. I thought you were saying we had to line up with the registration line on friday to get our tickets. X.x;
Um... I'm a little confused...
Basically, you have to get your badge before you can get a ticket; once you have that, you can hop into the ticketing line at any time.
Sorry. u(v.v)u I seem to have a tendency to confuse sometimes. Thanks for putting up with my confusion. X.x; I'll try to explain what I meant without confusing myself.
Let me re-phrase:
On Thursday, will there be just one separate line for registration (pre-reg./early reg.) pickup and a one separate line for picking up tickets?
Or some sort of combined line where you get both at the same time?

I just wanted to make sure that it is the same as the arrangement for the rest of the con.
The whole separate line thing that is.
Like say for Friday to Sunday: 1 line for pre-reg./early reg., 1 line for at con reg., and 1 ticket pickup line.
I just want to confirm that thursday will be: 1 line for pre-reg./early reg. and 1 ticket pickup line.

And not something like a line for those just getting badges and a line for those wishing to get badges and the concert ticket.
I could see the concert ticket being coupled with our badges as they are "reserved" if we entered a promo code. But as this does not seem the case, I just wanted to make sure it is the above.

I really thank you for putting up with this from me. (This should be the last I'll bother you. I hope.)

Im going to ask even though this is kinda answered on the musicfest page. But im a bit confused becuase of other things that have been said. During each you are only giving out a certain amount of ticket for the concert, and it shows that its the same for the meet the guests and autograph thing, is that true? only a certain amount of everything are given out at the times listed?

I have a question about lining up aswell; I don't think it's been answered yet, and if so I just need clarification.

After the quota for reception/autograph tickets is met for the morning pickup of a particular day, will those lined up who did not get tickets be allowed to remain in line for the next opportunity, or will those lines be broken up until a later time?

Thanks in advance. <3

The reception/autograph tickets are given out at the same time as the concert tickets. We'll give them out on a first come/first serve basis for the duration of the hour. Once those tickets are gone, we are still giving out concert tickets during that time frame stated on the website. This is for each session that we are giving tickets out.

Once the Box Office is done giving out tickets, it closes and the staff will be elsewhere working on more MusicFest stuff.

Our Safety on Site or the Police may discourage you from staying in line all day.

If you are waiting in line to obtain a ticket, feel free to take pictures!

But if you are in line for the concert, you will not be able to bring in your camera as there is a no video/camera rule.

For you, Eric, it's VERY UNETHICAL and you will totally fail in trying to bribe the incorruptible MusicFest staff for a ticket. Yes, the Head of Fan Services has to wait in line like everyone else! Unless you have a few of those "shiny bright extravagant special thing of silver" to give to everyone on staff.  Then maybe we can work something out. ;-)  Something about a maid outfit....

Just to be very clear, there is one line for An Cafe concert/autograph/reception tickets. MusicFest's tickets are given out at the BOX OFFICE on the Hilton side.  The Box Office is not part of any of the lines for Registration.

Even though they are in the same area, the lines for to pick up your membership badges are different from the line for MusicFest.

You MUST pick up your badge (either pre-reg/early-reg/full weekend/Sunday/Monday badge) in order to pick up tickets for MusicFest. There are no exceptions to this.

So in short, you have to wait in one line to get your badge and then another line to pick up the tickets.

Yes. It's is true. Only a certain amount of tickets are given out at the times listed.

The only exception to this are the tickets that are won as prizes during the convention (i.e. certain contests on Stage Zero, Karaoke, etc.).  So you can definitely check out a few other events and try and win them. :D

As far as camera phones go, I know that some S.O.S. staff may not be as strict in enforcing the non-use of camera phones at MusicFest(and other events where photography is not allowed) in general since 99% of the time, the image quality from camera phones tend to be really crappy and unfocused, so my guess is that camera phones will most likely be allowed(but that's a guess so don't take my word for it).

But I think MusicFest might have a different policy regarding An Cafe though...

On another note, the ticket giving process is pretty much get in line, show badge, let MF staff type in badge number into the system, pick up ticket, and leave, correct? How much time does the MF staff estimate that this ticket processing should take for each badged person in line?

My only concern regarding the process is both the processing rate of tickets and the length of time the booth is open, especially for Friday because there will be the following people in line for one of each shift:
*staff
*reserved ticketholders, including pre-regged and early-regged people
*and people attempting to get the 155 tickets per shift

Compared to on Thursday:
*staff
*reserved ticketholders under pre-reg

I guess what I'm trying to say is that maybe there could be a crucial flaw in the Friday hours because by the time the rest of the line reaches the ticket booth(for both 9-10 and 5-6 times), it'll be closed because time is up. The only people I can see losing out in this scenario is some staff and reserved ticketholders(especially for early-regged people) at the worst. I'm probably missing a very important point, but I'll figure it out eventually XD.

Sorry if it sounds like I'm complaining about all of MF's hard work. lol(I'm not trying to, though.)

But yeah, I know, I know. MF is working hard at it and I'm fully aware that I'm not as knowledgeable about line processing as most staff here is. Then there's the whole "If you can't get in line early enough to get a ticket, your fault" logic... I'm not concerned about getting my own ticket at all. I just wanted to bring that possible concern up since I know some of my friends on staff who want to see the concert may not be at the con until Friday afternoon and I want to help them construct a game plan so that they can get a decent shot at it(at the least).

"There are three types of tickets (concert, reception, and autograph) and you can get up to one of each. You can request all three types at pick-up. Pick-up is first come, first serve."

I am confused from what I've read here. After we get are badge are we able to get all three at once (one of each) or are they just going to be given through contests where fans can't get them first-come first-serve? -confused-

Edit: Sorry if this has been answered. I'm just very confused...

Also, I'd be a little concerned about...finding these lines and finding everything I want to go to. I'll be staying at the Hilton Hotel.

You can request them if they are being given out at the session you are going to (see the MF website for times and ticket breakdown). They are first come, first serve.

However, we do have a select number of tickets for the autograph session and reception reserved as prizes. In that case, you can't ask for those. But you can win them!

Both lines (for your membership badge and the concert tickets) are in the Registration area on the first floor of the Convention Center. Just look for lots of people queued up.  The Hilton is connected to the Convention Center. There are info booths scattered around, so if you get lost, you can ask them for a map or directions. There's also a map in the program guide which you get when you pick up your badge. :D

Yes. We're giving at least 300 concert tickets in the morning session and everything we have left in the afternoon session on Sunday. We did this because we know many Cafekkos are coming in only on Sunday and we wanted to make sure you had a chance to see them in concert.

The MusicFest website (http://www.fanime.com/musicfest/schedule.html) will have the ticket breakdown and hours as well as where to get them.

I have a question I'm not very clear on.

On Friday morning, are you actually giving out 125+ tickets? 125 tickets for those who didn't enter the AnCafe promo code and "+" tickets for those who did and have their tickets reserved? Also,on Friday, can I get all three tickets at once? Well, if there are still any autograph and reception tickets left . . .
Title: Re: An Cafe concert tickets
Post by: Tony on May 18, 2008, 12:11:08 AM
The numbers in the quota column are the amount of tickets we're distributing to members who don't have a ticket reserved. It doesn't include the number of tickets we're giving to people who entered an An Cafe promo code.

And, yes, you can get all three tickets at once on Friday. If the autograph and reception tickets have run out by the time you get to the ticketing window, you can try again Friday evening... and Saturday morning and evening... etc.

That is all answered on the music fest part of the Fanime website. I dont know about the opening band since there hasent been an update on any other acts but im sure that there might be one? Musicfest always has a variety set so its like all artists not just one opening act and then the main event.

You can line up anytime after the FMV's end. If you line before that, our Safety on Site may disperse you or think that you are there just for FMVs and not the concert.

Since the line doesn't start until after the FMV's, out of curiosity and safety I'm going to ask this.
What is the Fanime staff / security going to do about the line, or how would we go about getting in line? It's probably going to end up a mad dash the second the FMV's end, so I'm wondering what sort of policy or whatever would be put in place as far as lining up. I know it'll be safe or whatever, I'm just curious as to how you guys will go about doing it so I'll be prepared for whatever.

Safety is one of the main things we took into consideration. We want our attendees to be safe and for everyone to have a great time at the concert.

There will be Safety on Site around. There will be police around (both in uniform and plain clothes) on site. There will be other measures of security in place.

I'm sure it won't be a rowdy time lining up. But SoS, MusicFest staff, and the Police/EMTs are all aware that this is big event and all steps to keep things running smoothly and safely will be taken.

If you are breaking the rules of FanimeCon (they're in the program guide/online!) and/or state laws, your badge may be revoked and you may miss the event. I'm hoping it won't come down to that and everyone will have a good time and be respectful of each other.

How would you be breaking the rules in this situation? Any examples?

I am worried about fights breaking out and people trying to steal spots. I'd also hate to be waiting in-line only for people to cut in front of you just because your friend was there. I have had this kind of thing happen to me before. It's not fun.
Title: Re: An Cafe concert tickets
Post by: Shi_Musouka on May 19, 2008, 05:35:01 PM
I believe one of the things that can get your badge pulled is if you are caught backstage. I know the reason they're enforcing the 3,000 capacity is because to go over that capacity may present a safety/fire hazard inside the building. It is against the facility rules(dunno if it's illegal) to block any doors, exits, walkways, and emergency equipment because it makes it that much harder for Fanime Staff and San Jose City personnel to escort everyone out the building or to grab ahold of emergency equipment should something like an earthquake, fire, etc. occur during the concert.

I do know that the police do not take kindly to people who riot. No question about it, there will be SoS staff doing line control for this event and judging about the amount of staff that have been stationed for line control and the like, someone is bound to pay attention to cutters. Generally, SoS will tell them to go to the end up the line, but there are some that aren't as straightforward when approaching these things.

For An Cafe, I'm pretty sure the people working there will enforce the no cutting, most likely. I doubt that answered the question, but it was worth the attempt :]

That makes me feel safer. I'd like to go to the concert and have fun, not get hurt. I'd just hate to have the chance of getting the ticket and lose it by some selfish fans.

That was a month ago. I believe it was the 15th of this month the promo code was closed.

So....it's expected that there will be 3,000 fans there?

I feel silly for asking this, but are there going to be any other opportunities to win backstage passes?

oh my goodness...i think i've misunderstood this whole time.
i thought those who entered a promo-code had all three tickets reserved for them.
but a reserved ticket is only a concert ticket. right?
so since i have a promo-code, i can go friday and get my reserved concert ticket. but i'd have to line up seperately with everyone else to try and get a reception/autograph ticket. right?

so sorry so many questions are asked, but i really appreciate all you're doing for us!! =]

Thanks so much for answering my question.~
That was my main worry for the day of the concert, considering I've been to some rather, erm, interesting Jrock concerts before where people were way out of line. The rabid fangirls / fanboys can get pretty extreme sometimes, and I'm glad to hear there are plenty of measures that will ensure the safety of everyone attending. =)

I'll save my other questions for when I get in line there, since they're more about the security measures inside the building. There will be plenty of time to figure that sort of stuff out~ but for now, thanks a lot! It feels like a great load of stress just got lifted.  8)

Well....the Registration database is now downloaded and moved elsewhere. So whatever you type in now won't be there at the con itself.

:D You don't need the quotes so I wouldn't worry so much over it.

3,000 is our max capacity for the Civic for safety and fire code reasons. I hope we can fill up the Civic Auditorium! It would be awesome if 3,000 people were holding up lightsticks while bopping to An Cafe.

There are no backstage passes. Sorry but the management is pretty strict about that.

Yup! The reserved ticket is the concert ticket and held until the end of the last session on Friday night.

If you want a chance at the other tickets (including any of the GAINAX tickets), you can ask for them starting on Friday morning as the ticketing schedule on the MusicFest website states. :D

Does those backstage passes include the ones that were offered through contest sites?(ex. musicJAPAN's An Cafe/Fanime weekend pass contest , but I'm not 100% sure if a backstage pass was included in there)

Ok so I plan on getting my autograph ticket in the morning on Friday,(and pick up my badge and stuff thursday) how early do you think i could be there waiting?
And what happens once the 15 tickets of the day are gone, you have to try again?

oh i'm so nervous, because i am one of the unluckiest persons in the world and with only 100 tickets for autographing I might not get that chance..seeing how there is probably a bunch more then 100 people wanting autographs...

I'm trying to estimate on around how many were in line at the Akon convention..but it was hard to tell since there was two autograph sessions..and people were allowed to get back in line

>.<!!

oh but you know what..i'm glad i got a full weekend pass..i heard a lot of An Cafe fans weren't getting a full weekend pass because they are only going to the convention for the concert and stuff...so maybe i do have a chance

XD

boy do I babble..

I just want to give everyone who worked so hard for getting this all together millions of hugs and kisses!!~

So long as the Safety staff and Police don't mind, you can line up pretty early. Just don't block exists, create a fire hazard, or sleep/set up camp.  ;D

I think I'm missing something here...

There are 3 types of tickets for An Cafe right? The new updated schedule and rules on the website doesn't show the reception anymore and it also mentions that there is only 2 type of tickets. 3,00 for the concert and 100 for autographs.

Is the Reception not planned anymore?

The Cafekko Reception is canceled (http://forums.fanime.com/index.php/topic,9794.0.html).

There are now two tickets for MusicFest you can pick up, the concert and the autograph session. You can also pick up tickets to any of the GAINAX events as well since most of their events will be ticketed.

After that announcement, I'm severely disappointed...

but I do have a couple of questions to ask.

If we get into the autograph session, will we be able to give gifts directly to the members?
Also, there will be concert merchandise, correct? How is this going to be handled?

also for the autograph session, would we have to buy something there to be signed? or can it be anything we bring? [ie. magazine, cd]

Title: Re: An Cafe concert tickets
Post by: royalism on May 20, 2008, 04:53:15 PM
I really do hope that the number of tickets for the autograph session goes up.

While I'm sure it wasn't your final decision, I feel it was wrong to get everyone's hopes up and then be like "OH WAIT GUYS, SORRY ANCAFE IS TOO TIRED TO MEET YOU".

So it'd only be fair to, I don't know, make 200 tickets available for autograph session instead of only 100.

I mean, there's already going to be a fuckton of pissed off cafekko, and ONLY letting 100 in, especially after finding out there's no reception?    It kind of makes you guys look like you don't know what you're doing..

While I'm really grateful for the hardwork you guys are putting into this, because I'm happy to even be seeing ancafe, it's still a huge disappointment for everyone else.  :/

So it'd be cool if you made up for it but letting more people into the autograph session.

If not, then.. well, not much I can say, really. :P
Title: Re: An Cafe concert tickets
Post by: mrsanticafe on May 20, 2008, 05:14:36 PM
Except it wasn't their decision. Antic Cafe was the one who made the decision. They wouldn't have announced it if Antic Cafe didn't have their approval. The staff here shouldn't get the blame for this. Antic Cafe along with the management were the ones who decided the schedule. Fanime didn't say "Antic Cafe you're GOING to play for us and do all of this with us." I think Antic Cafe did plan for the reception, but this is a different tour for them because they aren't just touring in Japan. Don't forget they're also learning other languages now and this is a lot for the band.
Title: Re: An Cafe concert tickets
Post by: royalism on May 20, 2008, 05:53:18 PM
I understand that.

But what I mean is, was ancafe's management 100% in agreement with doing the reception when it was announced?
If that's the case, then it's ancafe's fault.  But if they hadn't made a solid decision yet, and the reception was still announced, then I think it was wrong to announce it at all.
Title: Re: An Cafe concert tickets
Post by: royalism on May 20, 2008, 05:59:05 PM
I also don't see how it being different from Japan and learning another language has anything to do with it...

It's not required to speak english to perform music for fans here...  And saying it's a different tour from Japan is kinda irrelevant, as they're only playing one show at an anime convention, and then leaving.

If they were playing multiple shows, then I'd have more sympathy for them, but it's just one show.  It shouldn't be that hard for them as they just completed an entire tour in Europe.  :/

Just my opinions, though.
Title: Re: An Cafe concert tickets
Post by: mrsanticafe on May 20, 2008, 06:04:05 PM
I was only referring to how busy they are. I think you forget they're experiencing a lot of culture shock and jet-lag going to more than one country. Every country is different, therefore, doing a tour like their's is completely different because it's out of the norms of what you're used to. Going to any foreign country is out of the norms.
Title: Re: An Cafe concert tickets
Post by: royalism on May 20, 2008, 06:07:01 PM
Fair enough.  I can agree with that.  :P

I just feel like I should say something because I know I'm not the only person who feels the same way as I do.

That, and it's like 2 days before the convention, so the stress levels are going up, and for things to be changing now is a bit stressful for everyone.
Title: Re: An Cafe concert tickets
Post by: mrsanticafe on May 20, 2008, 06:13:05 PM
Honestly, I was hurt and a little mad when I found out. Not at Fanime, but the band. I think what they tried to do was they really tried to make it happen for us, but in the end realized they couldn't (maybe things will change?).

well Its fine with me, Its understandable that the reception is cancelled and as fans we should resepect the decision. After all jet lag and while they may wander arround the con to get to know the experience (Kamijo and despairs ray both wandered arround along and so did other music fest members in the past) First time tours in the U.S or in any country is new and they dont want to dissapoint so probally alot is going to be put in the concert and autograph sessions!

Where will thoes extra tickets go? hopefully for more people to attend autograph sessions

haha Miku is probally going to speak in english during the concert its cute, but I do want to know if they could just sign whatever or does it have to be concert merch. Same with giving gifts Im pretty sure homebaked goods are not accepted

Lots of Jrock fans have bad reputations, really. I've been to a few Jrock concerts here in the states (Hyde in 06', Dir en grey more than once, etc etc) and I just have to get it out that there are tons of elitist pricks. The ones that might as well just say "Well, I've been a fan of *insert band name here*'s since before they even knew they were going to be a band!" because of the way they talk and act. I just got into Jrock back in 05, and I've gotten talked down to hundreds of times by people because I'm apparently "not a Jrock fan" since I've only been into it for a few years now, and some of these people don't even know some of the bands I listen to, and only listen to the really popular stuff like Gackt, Hyde, Dir en grey, and whatever other super-popular groups you can find. It's sad, really. It's also the reason why I tend to shy away from people if they look like they might like Jrock...

About the reception, though~ yeah, I was thinking that too. My friend and I were trying to estimate how long that would be, what sort of spot we'd get in line for the concert, and all that sort of stuff when we found out about the reception. At least it's one less thing to worry about though, I suppose. ^^;
Title: Re: An Cafe concert tickets

Mmm... well, I think thats true for music fans in general, right?
Fans wanting to one-up each other... like "I'm a better fan!" or whatever is just silly, there's no way you could measure that! And anyway, there's nothing wrong with being a casual fan <3
But its fun to meet nice people who are fans of the same band <3 because you already have stuff in common.

BTW "since before they even knew they were going to be a band" = rofl

Well. I don't look like a jrock fan haha? I'm just average.

Yep, but we have to line up after the FMV contest thingy? Can I like hide behind a tree nearby? XP - jk.
Title: Re: An Cafe concert tickets
Post by: IshokuOsero on May 21, 2008, 01:52:52 AM
I suppose it could be true for music fans in general, but until I got into Jrock, I'd never been to a concert or been into music. >.> So I don't really know how it is, I guess. ^^; I bought cds, but never even thought about getting to know band members' names.. or well, anything about them at all.

It is fun to meet other nice people that are a fan of the same bands~ when I saw Hyde, it seems like most of the people around my friend and I were immediate friends, which was seriously awesome and fun since we were standing there for most of the day, but I unfortunately haven't had an experience like that since, and I've been to a quite a few other ones. Dx My friends and I actually got beer and rocks thrown at us by people at one of the Family Values Tour concerts, because we were there to see Dir en grey, and apparently we should "go back to Japan with them", but those were Korn fans, not Diru fans. Why can't everyone just get along? =(

It's so true! I've met tons of people that should just say that, since that's how they act. I've been using that particular phrase for years now, since coming into contact with some rather bad Jrock fans some time ago that thought they were the s*it because they listened to every single indie band in the entirity of Japan...

Average is good, haha. x3 Granted, I'll be in SexPot merch and stuff, but I'm nice, honest! I just decided to spend money on SexPot when my boyfriend gave me a generous amount for my birthday this year. >.> Overpriced. @.x

Haha, I wonder if there will be trees! I've never been to Fanime and I'm traveling across the country for it, so I'm really excited. I'll hide behind a tree with you. 8D

Mmm... yeah, I've only been to a few concerts (mix of j-rock/non) But, I met cool people at Miyavi concert this week <3 Although some people in the pit were crazy...

Oh my goodness! I can't believe they threw things at you!

Mm, I meant no dyed hair/piercings... As for what I'm wearing...I don't really know! But probably...oshare-ish? I dunno. I have like a bright pink hat/yellow shirt/rainbow tights that I want to wear but we'll see. SexPot is cool.. but yah, so expensive! Nice boyfriend :)
But then again I'm kinda cheap when it comes to clothes..

Yep, my first time too. I'm coming from Southern California... seems like a different state sometimes...

Oh, but I've actually been to this convention center before, for a fencing tournament! They have air conditioning! (maybe thats obvious...)
It was a couple years ago. And I was pretty much inside fencing or sleeping haha.

Ooh, tree buddies.
We can picnic <3

I have been a J-rock fan since 04-05 lawls but I still know the decency to not attack another fan because he or she is not dressed like the band or what not.

Alot of J-rock fans are elitst and with them comes the subgenres. Im into the Lolita Fashion (lol my icon is an easy reference Angelic Pretty's artist Maki) and well you just have to ignore the rude people and know that there are really nice people out there. helpful as well when it comes to outfits and shows. (i have dabbled in fashion also :d) You dont need brand named items to be cool I learned, even though its really nice.

I have been to a few Music fest shows and a few j-rock concerts, Despair's Ray's first US tour back in 05, Kamijo from Lareine are just two x: but Im excited to meet some Caffeko

Im hoping Ancafe plays some of their older stuff like Odoru Meruhei Toki and Dakku no magikaru adobenchaa

My friends and I couldn't believe it either. We actually had to hold one of my friends back to stop her from fighting the guys that were throwing stuff at us. ^^;

Ah, I see. I'm allergic to metal, so I can't have piercings, otherwise I'd probably look insane or something. I've always wanted to have all of Ban's lip piercings (drummer of Lolita23q), but alas, I can't. I had half pink and half blonde hair like his was last year, though. 8D But yeah, I won't be insane like that this time around. I'll be dressing semi-oshare one of the days, but the rest of the time I'm thinking of more of a punky look, just because I recently got clothes that will fit well with that, so I like to show them off, haha. x3
I'm cheap when it comes to clothes also. I only buy shirts when they're under $10 a piece, and pants when they're around $20. So yeah, cheap. ^^;

Ohh, air conditioning! xD That sounds good enough for me, haha. Was the fencing tournament fun? I've always wanted to try fencing~.

Picnic! Now I feel like I should make up some bento boxes and ice them until Sunday.
The plane probably wouldn't allow it though, they're more and more strict every day it seems.

Do you have some sort of IM messenger, like Yahoo or MSN? I'd love to talk to you more~

Kazuko - I'd love to hear dakku no magikaru adobenchaa! I bet it would be amazing live, haha.
I personally really want them to play Wagamama koushinkyoku, it has always been one of my favorites. Maple Gunman should be a must, too, because I want to do the hand motions to it so badly. xD

Thats terrible...

Mmm, I want 1 or 2 more piercings on my ears...yeah... haha. My outfits for each day is like planned out already... I'm gonna do a Nana O cosplay one day though and MAYBE an An Cafe cosplay (its not finished...)

Ooh yay! Thrift stores ftw.

Yeah it was fun <3 Its always fun to travel to tournaments because you get to see friends you don't usually see and stuff.
It was my first Pacific Coast Championships though and I don't think I did well...don't remember...

I'm driving <3 so I can overpack.
I don't know how to make bento but I'm bringing a cooler...

Yah!! I feel bad getting so off topic. I'll PM my email, is that okay?

Kazuko:
Lolita is awesome! Can't afford/not talented enough to sew it though haha.

Ahaha. I love Duck no Magical Adventure.

There is a vendor that will be selling merchandise in the Dealers room the entire weekend; additionally, the band themselves will be selling merchandise at their events. So there should be lots of opportunity to get some cool stuff, though I personally would buy from the band directly... just feels more supportive.

Oh, so then they'll be selling the merch the entire weekend?
Or are they still just selling it during certain points in time?

//edit - Sorry if it's a stupid question, I've never been to an Anime Convention before so this will be my first, and I don't really know how everything goes just yet. >.>
There is a vendor that will be selling merchandise in the Dealers room the entire weekend; additionally, the band themselves will be selling merchandise at their events. So there should be lots of opportunity to get some cool stuff, though I personally would buy from the band directly... just feels more supportive.

And which event is this? (:

Oh! And thanks for answering my previous question!

If we manage to get tickets for the autograph session are we only allowed to get one autograph? We are most likely only allowed one, but I wanted to know because my brother had to cancel going to Fanime at the last minute due to getting sick and won't be able to get an autograph himself.

You are allowed one autograph only. Because the band is only signing autographs for a limited time, we want as many people to get an autograph from them as possible.

There are no tickets for the Friday show. So it's pretty much walk in, find an unoccupied seat you like, sit down, and enjoy the show!

You may not pick up a ticket for someone else.

So that means you yourself needs to pick up your own ticket right? Like, somebody else can't get it for you, regardless if he or she is only getting it for you?

Aaah, sorry for the lateness of the question. ><

yeah, i think you yourself have to get it. my guess is that so early people won't get a bunch of tickets for friends coming later and then have the con run out. which would suck for people who are coming later and don't have friends to pick up tickets early for them. plus it's just fair that way ^_^;

If you pre-regged with the promo code you go to the window marked tickets next to the registration area and show them your badge. The will check for the code and give you your tickets.

If you won one of the autograph sessions they will also give you the ticket at that time. (I know cause I won one  ;D )

I guess they are giving out batches of autograph tickets at different times of the day. Some people were already camping out for them.

Ok I think this is a dumb last minute question...buuuutttt~
A lot of my friends want to go to the AN Cafe concert, have full weekend passes BUT did NOT put in the promo code...are they not able to get tickets? Do they have to pay extra?

And if that has nothing to do with the promo code, what DOES it do?

I'm not part of the staff but I believe that if you did not put in the promo code, that means there will not be a reserved concert ticket for them. They'll still be able to get tickets by waiting in line with the rest of the people, provided they didn't run out for the day, and no, the tickets don't cost extra.

So I hate to bXtch and complain but this line system is getting really fXck3d up. The fact that people who were after the 20 this morning got to put their name on a list is total bs, it stops the whole system from being fair. There are only 100 tickets. And every single one should be fairly given out. Take this into account next time a mess like this happens.

I mean honestly this is becoming unreasonably disorganized. And totally unfair against the people who have been standing in line all day, missing panels and what not. Another issue is the fact of line cutting. I mean I understand the fact of spot saving and all, but it's got to have it's limits. Holding spots for 10 people at the front of the line is fXck3d up.

well i was one in the line this morning to get my autograph ticket we all were there since around five on friday and stayed there all night..
Of course we had sleep rotations every once in a while..but i did not like how they had already started the next 20 peoples list.
But people will wait i suppose i know that the reception tickets are being distributed through Stage Zero contests

While I understand your concern about the line, I was in the second twenty, and although I wasn't there quite as long (since the ticket sessions were closer together) I'd like you to know that I was still in line for nearly 12 hours and I only got up once for the bathroom.  I still missed an entire day of the con as well.  Sure, some people didn't really adhere to the rules, but I don't appreciate the generalization when I was as dedicated to getting that ticket as the rest of you.  I liked having the second list, because it meant I was waiting for something I knew I could get.  And I did wait and I wasn't the only one.

On another note, I would like to know about gifts too!

I think at least the people in line should have been INFORMED that such a list existed or would be done. If someone saw there was already 20 people in line then why would they stick around when what they wanted-autograph tickets-weren't there.

I found this highly unfair to those people waiting. The whole idea was to give people a chance at different times. I'm not afraid to admit it, my friends and I went to Con-Ops to complain about the situation. It was through this that the 30 as opposed to 10 on Sunday morning thing came about. We were told by multiple staff members while waiting at con-ops of the increase in tickets released due to the high demand. We may have misunderstood this but the fact is when time came around it ended up being a fiasco. Even during the masq. my group waited in shifts until the next morning. I can honestly say it ruined my Sunday so far---I am PHYSICALLY ILL from exhaustion due to having to stay up and awake all night and I've missed panels because I'm curled up with a pillow in my hotel room my pain.

I must give EVERYONE in the staff mad props for how they handled the situation. It was very nice, considering I wasn't in the first ten and would have wasted my night as a result. we weren't angry. we were tired...we were upset...and we certainly did not want to spend another day at the con in line for the same thing. That wouldn't be fair.

Also-met some great people in the line--Jordan is my hero---any from that crowd will know what I'm talking about! What an AWESOME guy. Seriously, he was the go-between man and he made it all work out and kept people calm. I really think (and hope) he's a staffer next year.

Either way I don't know how it could have been modified but the entire ordeal was exhausting but WELL worth it.

----Yay concert tonight!

So my name is Jordan. =] Anyone who was standing in line with us Sunday morning/ Saturday evening and all that in between should remember me. I'm that crazy boy who was running around organizing everything.

I would definitely like to say thank you to everyone for staying calm and respecting staff.  I know how hard it was, trust me, I know. All that really matters is we got our awesome Autograph tickets and we are happy. I'm very greatful to staff and they totally deserve like a billion internets for putting up with me and with all that insued and such and such.

I would also like to point out that I soooo totally need to be on S.O.S. next year, and that's what S.O.S. members told me. =]
So brasically I hope to be staffing next year! <33!

Can anyone get an An Cafe Tour T-shirt for me from the convention?  I heard they were selling them in the dealer's room at the same booth they were selling the new CD.  I was so disappointed when the concert didn't sell any t-shirts!!!
I'll be willing to pay a decent, yet reasonable amount if someone can buy the shirt and send it to me...how does $40 sound?  The t-shirt only costs $20, so that would be a $20 gain for you as a sign of my gratitude.
If any of you remember a crazy Ryuusei Rocket Miku cosplayer running up and down the concert line yesterday, that was me lol!!!  So I am a true Cafekko and would really, really appriciate your help.

This is nothing on fanime, but i have a complaint.

I was HIGHLY dissapointed in an cafe's performance on sunday. they BARELY played an hour! I spent hundreds of dollars to come see them only for them to go for an hour?! Another thing i didnt care for was I felt there was no energy in the show. sure a headbang there and mikus fancy footwork but all in all the FEEL of the show was lame. The changes to different songs were filled with akward silences. and miku never seemed to crack a smile. like .... at all. i know they must have been exhausted and all but like i felt like they didnt even want to be there! I dont count the small MC's miku said when he claims hes "So happy to be here" because frankly thats all scripted. I dont know...there was justs something so off about that performance.... :-\

It is towards the end of their tour; most bands get tired you know. I heard they were jet lagged and quite busy. Just be glad to see them.
I am quite glad they came to our home con. It is rather huge.
And most (and I think all) of those awkward silences was when he was drinking from the water bottles they put on stage.
It was rather hot and tiring just in the crowd near the stage. Being under those stage lights is worse; especially with a lot of movement.

Jordan, you are my hero <3

Buddies from line, I'm Alexa (pink hat)

The line system was pretty screwed up. After being there most of the night... I would have cried if I didn't get a ticket so again, props to Jordan <3

The lines, travel, money, everything was totally worth it for me! It was everything I expected and more <3 I'm sorry you didn't like the show, osakagrl, but they did tell us ahead of time that it would be only an hour. Its short but concerts at cons are generally pretty short. (At AX, they were only scheduled for 45 minutes!)

I'm effin tired/sore/and I seriously gotta study so I'll talk to ya'll later <3

I was HIGHLY dissapointed in an cafe's performance on sunday. they BARELY played an hour! I spent hundreds of dollars to come see them only for them to go for an hour?!
They originally only agreed to do one hour of performance. Once they got to the concert, they said they would play about an hour and twenty minutes. So it could have been worse, I guess...

Quotei know they must have been exhausted and all but like i felt like they didnt even want to be there!
They did! And they were exhausted. I probably shouldn't say this, but the reason they started at 7:45 and not 7:30 is because they were all laying on the floor trying to catch a nap after their three-hour sound check. Another problem was that, since we took out the chairs, the venue looked really empty... so they actually thought no one was interested! But when we explained the situation, and that the merchandise had been sold out, they were happier. Hopefully that explains their mood.

Now I can really see why they cancelled the meet and greet. ;_; Poor guys! Thinking no one was interested when there were already so many lined up outside. Good thing you explained it to them.

XD; How cute~

I agree. Poor guys. D:
It makes me sad that they thought that.
But from reading their blog, it sounds like they aren't used to that kind of venue. Unless I was translating wrong, they called it large. XD;

I 100% disagree. I knew it was going to be short, but really they only played 2 songs less than the other venues in Europe, so really they gave us a good deal, and they answered our encore! It felt super short to me cause you know, time flies when you're having fun ^_^. I was right in the front holding onto the bar and Miku was dancing and making eye contact with everyone (unless all 30 of us are delusional) and he noticed a bunch of people that were doing the furitsuke on the balcony and he waved to them several times and I swear I saw him smile then. I did think (after reviewing An Cafe's last lives on DVD) that it did look like he practiced a bit more for this one, and tried to make it "cooler" with more dance moves. Also from their point of view, this was their 1st live in America and they didn't know what to expect, they didn't know if we would know all their songs, if we would do the furitsuke, if we were really anime-fans or Cafekkos... so they had to take into account "what if the crowd doesn't participate?" So they performed and I think they did extremely well. It was the best live I've seen in a long time (I've seen other Japanese, Korean and America bands/groups/solo artists play). Miku is a great vocalist, Teruki always gets into the music so much and was even singing along, Kanon was smiling every now and then and twisting, Takuya played really well and looked hawt the whole time, and Yuuki's solo was excellent (also loved how he kept jumping around on the stage). All in all A+++++ and the English was of course scripted but when Miku said "I want you to berii berii smile" I wanted to die it was so cute <3

They thought no one was interested!!! *sadfacex10000* I hope our cheering and singing got though to them during the concert, and if ONLY they saw the insane craziness in the line to get in (rabid fangirls).. haha I myself waited since 7am even though the line was unofficial... but since no one (not even staff) seemed to know how it would I pan out I thought I'd play it safe, all just to see them play!

Even if it was about an hour it appears as though they played most of their songs on their newest CD including one of their old songs. That's pretty good in my opinion.

I am curious if I am the only one here intrested in going to Japan over the summer and seeing Antic Cafe August 30th for their 5th anniversary?
