Thank you for your suggestions! We will take a look at the requests and try to incorporate the ones that fit with the ball into the playlist.

Hello ~

Quick confirmation question - would this outfit of Ciel's be appropriate? I only ask because the pants are knee-length:

Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, shorts are not a part of the dress code for appropriate attire. If they were long pants, I would say go for it!

This year, we are asking that the heel of your shoe has a tip that is no smaller than the size of a nickel for safety reasons.

And as long as the dress is not shorter than 2 inches above the knee, it looks appropriate to me!

Jim has posted a formal response to the BWBall feedback thread on Facebook, but I see that he hasn't done so here yet.  Jim? :)

Pushy, pushy.  :P. I will post a response to things later this week.

Thanks, Jim! :D

Black and White dance- Is it me or this year did they buckle down the dance? What I mean by that is they seem to have made the ball-room less roomy. Remember how last year they had all the chairs lined up against the wall and had several tables around the outer rims of the wooden dance floor? This year they just had several tables with chairs and it was hard to maneuver around them since they were all placed so close together, and it was VERY hard to find dancing partners since everyone was clumped together around the tables. I wish they had done it like last year and placed ALL the chairs against the walls and had separated the tables so people can maneuver between them AND find dance partners.

The reason why we didn't have all of the chairs and tables was because we had a room almost half the size than what we had last year. Last year, all of the tables had chairs around them as well (I clearly remember my mother sitting at one for quite a while last year). We did what we could for decorations, but the tables and chairs were placed by hotel staff if I remember correctly. The fact that the room was smaller this year was already an obvious issue when it came to attendance, but unfortunately the hotel had booked the Imperial Ballroom (the much larger room we had from last year) without notifying us beforehand, so we as staff were in a predicament which meant less room, but did the best we could to maintain the atmosphere. The sheer size of the line and reaching capacity for the room within the first hour was proof enough that the ball is getting more recognition, not only by the convention, but also by the Fairmont in realizing that we might just need that extra floorspace. ^^;

Thanks for the input! We are definitely taking everything into consideration.

I was disappointed by the B&W ball this year.  It had the feel of a high school dance rather than a real formal ball.  I think this is mainly due to poor choice in music.  Every year before now that I've attended the ball, I was refreshed by the formality.  You don't get that many other places these days.  But the overabundance of mainstream pop really irked me.  Though there were songs I did enjoy, the majority were definitely not what I would expect from a formal ball which demands formal attire and formal ballroom dancing.

Compared to last year, this years' ball had much less mainstream pop music, in my opinion. Comparing the two (as I have the playlist for both years), it would seem that last year should be the one getting more complaints than this year, though I guess it's just a matter of opinion. As Kevin had mentioned, we receive a lot of requests for music so we can have the opportunity to play what the majority of attendees would like, though the staff gets the final word in what gets played. We also put in a song or two from the guests of honor if we can, but this year seemed to have much more ballroom music than last year.

Actually, I noticed that during the demos, the dress code was sometimes not followed.  I was really disappointed by that.  I did enjoy watching the demos, though I think they took too much time.
For some of the demos, costumes were a necessity to get a different feeling in the performance. And though they did take up some time, the additional hour we had for dancing allowed us to have that third time slot for the demonstrations. This gave an opportunity for those who had been on the floor most of the night to actually have a break and hydrate, which was rather important by itself. Each demo time slot we had, the wonderful gentleman who belonged to the company we got our dance floor from was fixing the floor as much as he could. The second demo slot would have been much shorter, yes, but safety for attendees was a priority at that point in time.

Thanks for your input!
