Whats your policy on curse words in the music this year?

Thanks!

Generally speaking, we recommend that you try to stick to around a PG-13 rating. Limited usage of curse words is OK, but extreme vulgarity won't be accepted. If in doubt, submit it and send an email letting us know your concerns, and we'll take a look and let you know if it needs censoring.

Hey mDuo13, thanks for tracking those down! It'll be a great help to all the folks who asked us after the show where they could watch the videos.

Hey Animator,

All categories are in need right now, but we can especially use entries in Comedy, Upbeat, and Trailer. If you think you can knock one out, by all means!

I'm one of those procrastinators  :P but on the last few detail edits.

My main question is, its mentioned your video may be placed in a different category. I feel my video fits at least 3 of the categories so I'm not sure what to select. Will the team determine the actual category my video will fit best in?

Thanks! Really looking forward to this year.

Hi Animator22! Sorry for the late reply.

In short, yes. The judging team will move videos that aren't best suited to the category they were entered into as necessary. It's not done very often, but it has been known to happen. So feel free to submit under any category you like that seems suitable and we'll take care of it if need be. :)

In other news, this is the LAST DAY to enter, folks! You have until midnight pacific time tonight. If you haven't submitted yet, you're nearly out of time! Unless you have Homura's shield or something.

Hello Editors,

This is the FINAL WEEK to send in your AMVs for Fanime. If you've been procrastinating, now's the time to kick it into high gear!

We need more entries in every category, but especially upbeat, trailer, and comedy. Keep them coming!

Hey XeroRain,

My dept head is the one sending out mail- you should receive an acknowledgment within the next few days. However, so long as you hit the submit button and Google said you successfully sent the form, we have your info. :) We base the cutoff on when submissions were entered, not when we download them or inform the entrants, so you're way early and totally fine. Hope that helps!

UPDATE: The FMV Contest will be offering the following awards:

$70 Amazon Gift Card for each Best In Category
One $100 Amazon Gift Card for Judges' Best in Show
One $100 Amazon Gift Card for Audience's Best In Show

Attendance is not required in order to receive a prize. Any editors not in attendance will be contacted following the convention to confirm their shipping information.

As with prior years, the winning video of each category is eligible for winning Best in Show, so in theory, a single editor could go home with $270 in prizes.

Imagine is now available on YouTube! We've amended the initial post, but you can also find it here. Enjoy!

Hey Mango Bunny,

Unfortunately it seems that BB SNYPUR hasn't uploaded Imagine anywhere. I'll pass it along to them that someone's looking for it, though.

The song used was Pop Culture by Madeon.

This year we combined the Judges' scores with the audience's to create one set of winners. So the judges definitely still had say in who won each category, it's just in a different format.

We may tweak things further, so thanks for the input!

Great show this year! I love how you recapped last year's winners and the way you recapped the videos at the end as well. I think a non-voting encore show on Sunday would be a great addition next year for people who missed it Saturday and/or wanted to see them again on the big screen.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm really glad you enjoyed it!

We actually are having a non-voting encore on Sunday. :D Video Main @ 1:30 today. :)

Hello! Head of the AMV Contest here.

We hold the award ceremony each year at Stage Zero so we can highlight the winners of the contest in front of a large audience at the heart of the convention center. However, I remember the days when it was at the end of Masquerade, and I admit, I enjoyed those days too. (I've only been the head of the contest for 2014-15, so that was way before my time.)

However, I also remember that on at least one occasion, not all of the winners could be shown because of time constraints. It came down to skipping masquerade performances or AMVs, and since AMVs weren't the purpose of the show, it had to be the AMVs. It was unfortunate, but couldn't be avoided. That's just one of the reasons it's at SZ now- we have a dedicated timeslot and can avoid disappointing any of the winners by having to skip their outstanding AMVs.

In any case, I wanted to let you know that your suggestion has been heard. It's too close to the con to make any changes this year, but we'll take it into consideration for future cons. Thank you for the feedback. :)
