I'm sure if you use common sense (don't scream out cards with profanity when there are little kids walking by, that kind of thing) it won't be a problem.

Quote from: Yuutousei on April 17, 2012, 10:02:31 AMDoes this mean I can buy it at the con?
Also, what's the chance of a game or two of Magical Burst? It was a hit with the students I tutor, even though I had to change the game a bit to work with less dice rolls.
Unfortunately we have a good deal more work to do before Golden Sky Stories will be ready to sell, plus I'm not sure if we're going to be set up to sell stuff at the con in the first place. I haven't decided what exactly I'll be running, and to be honest I'm not super-confident running Magical Burst, but if there's enough interest I'll be willing to give it a try.

Heyo. Just wanted to add that I'll be at FanimeCon this year along with Bliss Authority, Ben Lehman, and a few others for Cel*Style stuff. I'm still working out what exactly I'll be doing, but a preview of Golden Sky Stories is a strong possibility.

So any takers for another rousing rpg at Fanime 2010? I know its early, but the more we trhow the word out there that craziness can ensue the more people we can get!
Unfortunately I most likely won't be able to make it to Fanime this year. I got invited to be a guest of honor at A-Kon (!), and I know from experience that two big cons in a row is way too much for me.

But, by then I should hopefully have one or two new translated games published, and if anyone is interested in running them at Fanime I will most likely be able to arrange a free copy.

I enjoyed Harry Potter overall, though it's definitely a little overrated.

I enjoyed His Dark Materials up until Phillip Pullman started making me wonder if a religion had run over his dog or something. He has such brilliant ideas and good characterization and character development, and then paints every last priest as a mustache-twirling cardboard-cutout villain.

I picked up a book called "Dead Girl Walking" by Linda Joy Singleton at the clearance sale that Willow Glen Books had before they closed. It's kind of cheesy in some places, and really dark in others, but a very fun read overall. It's about a nerdy girl who gets into a traffic accident and winds up in the body of a popular rich girl who attempted suicide.

Usually it falls to the players to come up with a name for the party... which in my experience isn't terribly productive. ^_^; If my warlord character had her way it would be called "The Wolf Pack," though that party didn't seem to really have a leader per se apart from the 4e role sense.

Anyway, you guys should totally check out the new podcast where I interview Jake Richmond (one of the designers of Panty Explosion and Classroom Deathmatch) about running RPGs at anime cons and such. The more I talk with him, the more I want to go crazy running RPGs next FanimeCon. :3

It depends on how long it takes me to get around to harassing Andy K. and Ben Lehman to get together on Skype to record an episode about Maid RPG. I'm also plotting to get Jake Richmond (designer of Panty Explosion and Classroom Deathmatch, amongst others) to come on to talk about pimping his games at anime conventions.

At the rate things are going, I'd be attending Fanime next year mainly for RPG action, so I'll be talking to some of you guys (as well as the tabletop gaming department) when we get a little closer to the con.

Maid RPG is a no-brainer, but Tenra Bansho Zero should be out by then, and I will hopefully have another SEEKRIT Japanese RPG project at least ready to demo. There are also Bliss Stage, Panty Explosion, and a few others that could fit in at FanimeCon pretty well. :3

Running Maid RPG and playing D&D were the highlights of this year's con for me. Thanks to everyone for making it memorable! ^_^

Also, note that for the light rail you have to have a ticket, either from a vending machine at the station or a day pass purchased on a VTA bus, and fare inspectors will periodically check and slap fines on anyone without a ticket.

Oh, and for the light rail they also offer an "Excursion Pass", which is $3.50 for light rail only, good for 8 hours from the time of purchase.

You definitely don't want to be eating out the whole time, but it's also nice to go out with friends once or twice during the con.

I too am a fan of Hydration and Tandoori Oven.

I'm not sure when they'll be open, but Smile Sushi is pretty good.

Pita Pit is probably the best place around the area to get stuff late at night.

For chain stuff there are Togo's, some fast food restaurants, Johnny Rockets, etc.

And Japantown is a very quick and easy trip on the light rail.

Panzer Dragoon Saga
Bust-A-Move/Puzzle Bobble 4

Yotsuba&!

I'd live in a small town in Japan and have wonderful neighbors who are always coming over to play.

Getting in some RPG action, commissioning one or two pieces of artwork at the Artists Alley, doing a little shopping, seeing some friends, that kind of thing.

Where should we meet up on Friday? Tabletop Gaming (EX2) is apparently going to be open a 9 a.m. (!) for a Naruto CCG tournament, so that would probably work.

Well, I'm coming from home (I live like a mile from the convention center), so I need to travel relatively light, but depending on the day I'll be bringing:

iPod
Notebook (the paper kind, because I get Ideas whenever I go to cons)
DS
Maid RPG
Dice
Water

Fine with me. We can nail down the specifics of gaming better once we meet up, though if the meetup is on Friday then I'll bring my Maid RPG gear that day. :3

My preference would be for a shorter adventure. Much as I love 4e, I don't find speed to be among its virtues. Oh, and I forgot to ask again, but did you want to use background traits? (As in, the special character traits that give minor bonuses, seen in Scales of War, Forgotten Realms, and now PHB2? And if so which versions?)

So, the plan is to meet up on Saturday, get lunch together, and then play Maid RPG, and after that meet up on Sunday to throw down with D&D4e. What time should we meet up on Saturday? Since we're planning to do lunch I'd say 11:30 or noon, so we can get enfoodened and play Maid RPG and such before the Masquerade (or whatever other major events) begins. We also need to think about a place to eat that can accommodate a party of 6-7 people during the con.

If we do anything Friday, and likely at anytime during Con, I will probably have 1, maybe 2 people attached to me. 1 will likely be un-removable, the other can be removed but is into TRPGs. So it may get a little crowded when/if I'm in a game. Though I'm not sure if either will want to play, I assume they will if they stay with me. Just pointing that out.
If you think it would be better, we can just do Maid RPG on Saturday. In that case, I'd like to assemble a smaller group (2-4 players) to try out another translated Japanese RPG I have on Friday.
