Anyone else doing a Black Lagoon cosplay?

hmm... the formatting appears rather strange on my screen. May I take the White Queen on Saturday?

Panel descriptions:
Creating Your Graphic Novels: Learn how to create, and distribute your own graphic novel without any artistic ability, or experience.
How to Make a Webcomic in 1 hr: (OR LESS!) Follow along as Scott Aleric demonstrates making his webcomic Hell Has Found Me in 1 hour or less* with quick, easy-to-follow steps. Learn fast Corel Painter and Photoshop techniques, inserting word bubbles, and prepping for web publication! *Some preparation required.

I'm a wannabe manga writer without any artistic ability (I collaborate with or commission artists). The Graphic Novels panel obviously seems more aligned with my interests but the description is vague/unbelievable, is it seriously possible to teach how to create a graphic novel in 1 hr, unless by "create" the author is referring to the publishing/printing process (instead of the creative one)?

On the other hand, the webcomic panel could teach me how to create my name as fast as possible (to pass on to potential artists), as right now I draw them at snail pace.

If anyone has any insight or advice, that would be super appreciated!!

Edit: These 2 panels are unfortunately same time same day (Sunday @ 2PM), if going to both were an option I would!

Heya, is there room to reserve a place for Saturday 12-1PM? I'm cosplaying as Sawyer (miss chainsaw goth) from Black Lagoon

Whoops, just received an email. OK, now I'm fully briefed on the situation, thanks!

Hi, I emailed and since I haven't heard back yet, I just wanted to say quickly that I can make both Friday and Sunday, but vastly prefer Friday.

If I've unluckily been registered in the Sunday timeslot, is it possible for me to be put on the waitlist but stay registered for Sunday? As in, I would wait in the Friday line and if I make it in, cancel out on Sunday, and if not then fall back on the Sunday registration.

Thanks and sorry for all this trouble.

It's listed under "Special Events on Saturday" (scroll down from the posted schedule):

The Yamaga Party
    at Sainte Claire Courtyard Atrium
From 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Aww, doesn't look like this is happening? You can probably self-organize in the Gaming room, so long as it doesn't break Fanimecon rules.

Great, I'm so glad to hear our group email was accepted! I didn't receive an acceptance or waitlist email though? As in, if I were accepted I would expect to be told I'm in for either Friday or Sunday; if I'm waitlisted, I applied before the 22nd, but wasn't notified of my status. Wow, 150 applicants already?! That's amazing, this will be an incredible experience :o

I like the idea of a single-shot robot unicorn attack. You get the fun without potentially staring at the screen till your eyeballs bleed

Ideas and Suggestions / Re: 24 Hour Comic
May 23, 2011, 05:00:42 PM
What might be more fun / interactive is to make this an open event with the artists ultimately deciding what to include/draw, but anyone passing through can look at the comic so far and provide suggestions for future direction (maybe with a moderator to prevent chaos). I guess that's approaching Nanamine from Bakuman's approach, but this is a new way of making a comic anyway.

BTW, I'm also happy to help organize, though I unfortunately can't draw :)

Wow, sounds like a great idea. You'd want to screen your artists beforehand to make sure all 24 have the potential to draw something interesting in the 1 hour. Probably gag type comics would be easier / more realistic

If you did it early enough, you could potentially auction the result off in the Charity Auction (even if you want to make copies, you can auction the original)

Ideas and Suggestions / Egyptian Ratscrew Tourney
May 23, 2011, 04:52:08 PM
I think this would be easy to organize, fun and relatively fast, as well as give most people a chance to participate (i.e. you don't have to be godly to really enjoy). There would just need to be standardized rules and decorated card decks or just glory for prizes.

For those unfamiliar with Egyptian Ratscrew / Ratslap / War / etc, it's basically one of those games where everyone takes turns placing cards down and you slap the pile as fast as you can when certain conditions are met (two cards of the same face value are placed consecutively, the joker is played, etc). But if a special card (Ace, K, Q, J) is placed, the next person has some number of "chances" (card draws) to also place down a special card. So it's part luck (how many special cards you have, mainly), part skill (reaction speed).

I'd just like to put in my two cents on group registration. I don't see the reason behind forbidding it, since in principle it's just more efficient, especially if you state very clearly the # of people of each gender in the subject line.

More personally, shortly after the Speed Dating sign-ups opened, my friends and I were in a room together and pooled together our info in one email and sent. We never received a reply saying that our email didn't count, and the website at the time didn't say group emails weren't allowed either. I went on a hiking trip and after returning have found that our only option is apparently to individually register for the wait list.

Rules are supposed to be applied to all future applicants, not created spontaneously and applied to guests who've already registered. Just saying.
