Any MusicFest is worth going to as long as Ramen & Rice come back  :D I don't mind who else shows up.

I regret to inform you that they probably won't make it this year...

Ummm... maybe? I'm interested in assistants for web stuff - updating pages, whatever - and Publications is always looking for backup designers in case you can do print in addition to web.

I have a designer who creates the design then I go about coding it to his specs... that's about it.

There are plenty with many sexual situations and of course some that truly do go 'all the way' (hentai, hahaha). Not that it's a bad thing.

After I thought of what they watch, I went ahead and thought of the people's personalities and actions. Lots of us are very affectionate, and we tend to hug and more toward other people. Also people are willing to pay others to go yaoi/yuri.

Probably the best way to describe buying bootlegs is: you're getting ripped off and helping parasites.

You're getting ripped off because that bootleg DVD - even though it might be half the price - probably costs 10% of what you pay to manufacture it. It would be like asking a friend to burn a $1 CDR and he charges you 10 bucks for it. Why pay for something that cost so little - and was so easy - to produce?

Ah, but the same logic applies to real stuff, you say? Why pay $30 for a DVD that cost $3 to manufacture?

That's because there's much more to the real DVD that just manufacturing it; when you're paying for the real deal, you are directly funding the people who made that series for you. You're helping pay the artists, writers, producers, and voice actors. (And you can bet that very little of your $30 is pure profit. No one is "sticking it to the industry" by buying bootlegs; voice-actors aren't making $10 million per episode.)

Copying DVDs is incredibly easy. So while a legit copy pays for all the people who made it, buying a bootleg basically means you're paying for someone to hit "record" on a burner. Do you really want to pay someone $20 when all they did was push a button?

I wouldn't mind seeing ZZ and Ramen and Rice again!!!  As for those who are "forbidden" to us, I would like to see Gackt or Dir en Grey.  Oh, just the thought of them considering being a guest is really exciting!!! :D

Not impossible at all. Considering how many people MusicFest brought in this year with relatively unknown artists, either could fill up the civic pretty easily. That's attractive...

1. FanimeCon has 3 divisions: land, sea, and air. "Space" is our next division, but won't be ready until 2010.

2. AMVs are under the jurisdiction of the game show. We do that as some legal tomfoolery, because as it turns out, anything related to a game show is legal, due to an act of congress in 1973.

3. Trick question! There's never been an infodesk, only an "informational-type kiosk and/or desk".

4. Approximately 10,000 staff and volunteers worked on FanimeCon this year. It didn't seem like that many, but that's because about 9,650 of them were for the Hentai and Yaoi nights.

5. Another trick question! The founders of Fanime never went to college. They were raised on anime, and were educated solely by the omake in Top wo Narae (Gunbuster).

6. FanimeCon's motto is "A Place of Things".

7. FanimeCon's parent company is ARG, which stands for "Armament Research Group". All revenue generated by FanimeCon is used for high-tech arms development and research. Like in Metal Gear Solid... exactly like in Metal Gear Solid.

8. FanimeCon's first 4-day experiment was in 1989, but it wasn't called FanimeCon then. Unfortunately, the 4 days of the convention were during Foothill college's finals week, and angry students barricaded otaku in the gymnasium. With only a small supply of ramen available to the imprisoned otaku, there was eventually a famine in the gym. The convention we now know was created in rememberance of that incident, but unfortunately no one spell-checked the logo - thus FanimeCon was born.

My fondest memories were from the Foothill days... I was there for both of them, and they were just after my first experiences with anime.

I remember - Mike Wright, was it? - in Captain Harlock cosplay... Justin Hernandez hosted the masquerade once too, I believe, and it was funny to end up running into him so often, albeit quietly... I remember my friend, exhausted and falling asleep in the masq, getting hit smack in the head by a beach ball and freaking out.

Seeing the Tenchi movie in Dolby... Big-screen Evangelion and Hyper Dolls... The $90 Ryo-ohki plushies, dealers selling hentai to minors... Dieter as a masquerade performer... =P (Urotsukidoji, anyone?) I loved the Foothill days.

I think he's brilliant and - like many a brilliant person - also troubled at times. I think that's where Evangelion comes from; it surfaced from his fight with and triumph over depression.

So my answer is d) all of the above!
