Title: Future MusicFest 2006 Guest Possibilities?
Post by: Tsukino on July 11, 2005, 06:18:18 PM
I haven't seen a thread on this (unless I missed it), so I'll be the one to start.

Who are you all interested in seeing at Fanime, and actually have a chance of showing up/performing? (Sorry to break it to some of you, but Malice Mizer already disbanded years ago. And Gackt would be nice, but I highly doubt he'll come to an anime con. He's too renowned for an anime con, he'll probably want his own concert someplace big...)

After seeing ZZ perform, I think a possibility is UVERworld, the band that did one of the opening themes for the anime BLEACH. They're a really new band, and they're not like L'Arc~en~Ciel or a few other bands with a very big name that lowers the possibility of them becoming guests. Although they are new, they're very talented. Their very first single, which is all that's out at the moment, is great and showcases a lot of future talent.

Hopefully, there a chance that the Fanime staff will try and get them to perform next year! They're a really awesome band, and I believe they'll be great guests to have.

Well, there's a general thread for possible guests where people have been suggesting new MusicFest guests:

psst KOTOKO psst (sorta) Horie Yui-sama

I'd think Gackt would make our pre-registration -- pre-registration! skyrocket. But yeah, there were plenty of suggestions and boobies in that thread...

Other than my obvious choices of L'Arc~en~Ciel, Camino, ZZ, Duel Jewel, etc., I would like to throw this idea out there, even if it might be a little weird xD

I would LOVE to see NEWS for MusicFest. I don't usually like groups from Johnny's Jimusho, but for some unknown reason *coughMasudaTakahisacough* I've become attached to them. xD Their songs are very pop, but they're entertaining and catchy xD

And hm...it might be tough to get L'Arc~en~Ciel over, but maybe...we could invite one or two of their solo projects xD I, for one, would LOVE if we could get Yukihiro's solo project, acid android.

I dunno if any of your guys were able to see that Japans Girls Nite last sping/summer with The Pillows but there was some pretty cool bands who come to the states every season from Benten Records (http://www.sister.co.jp/english/index.html) like:

Tsu Shi Ma Mi Re
Titan Go Kings
The Emeralds
Pretty Booka
Bleach

I would also look to see The Noodles, Shonen Knife (which did a tour recently this year), Beat Crusaders,  BZs, and of coruse The Pillows.

I still think the name for music fest should be changed to The Greatful Sound (BECK in-joke)! LOL

I second UVERworld. According to a Tofu Records interview (http://tofurecords.com/features.php?featureid=0002), they seem really eager to perform in the U.S.

QuoteTofu Records: We heard that, UVERworld, the band name, has a meaning that the band goes over the world and expand further. Do you think that the band will perform in foreign countries in the near future?

Takuya & Katsuya: Yes we would love to.

Tofu Records: Would you give messages to your US fans?

Takuya: I will master English and go to the US to perform live, so please come and see us.

Katsuya: I will make Takuya go to English school starting from tomorrow (laugh). I was moved by the recent live performance of Linkin Park in Japan. We also have great confidence of our live performance, so I want to try it in US.

To update my single-member list from before:

Alice Nine and Tsukiko Amano. =333 I'd do it it myself if I could become a staffer and try to persuade them all to come over... But I'm only 16 and have parents constantly telling me to stay home (although I don't go anywhere anyways).... So yeah. =x

That's smart. Yeah... My parents just don't want me to do anything else during the school year besides eat, study, and sleep. They know I'm going to Fanime, but not what I'm doing there. XD So that's the only way I'm getting into the fashion show thingie.

But yes! We must bring Amano over. XDD

^ And we love you for it. ^^ Thank you!!

But now that one of my two have been allowed the priveledge to become a "maybe", I will be advocating my other one. XD Alice Nine! Pleeeease? Pretty please? With a banana on top (I don't like cherries. =P). I posted some of their stuff.

*note - Just samples! Delete in 24 hours. (Now no one can sue me. =3)*

These are from their Alice in Wonderland album, I believe:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MCI7U8CB
        - Haikara naru rinbukyoku

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=U6IZ5B0I
        - Shunkashuutou

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=S2UX2UU1
        - Souen -na mo muki kimi e-

Consider them, please!! ^^

Edit: And this maybe a stretch, but could we try to get Miyavi? =D I mean, he had planned a US tour before, which he canceled (why I don't know). But maybe... =333

What about DMBQ? Shounen knife would rock too. I would love to see Nami Tamaki, as long as no one overplays hers songs in the covention hall. >_<

I would also love to see ZZ and Camino. Alice Nine would rock.

Koda Kumi.....if we had Miyavi and Koda Kumi I honestly wouldn't know which to hug first.

It wasn't him cancelling. I thought everyone was aware of the e-mail that PSCompany actually said regarding him. And the fact he's not indies anymore is probably going to be hard.

And eh. Not like I don't like how Alice Nine looks, I don't like their sound. :<
(Just like I almost don't like every other PSCompany band because they aren't bands that get contracted -they're individuals that get smooshed together to form a band -kinda like the pop singing groups)

If It's J-rock, can we bring someone from hide's label? I am such a hide lover and as much as I hate female J-rock people I'll take Yukito D:

Well for Duo then: ALI PROJECT :D As much as this thread is turning into a fantasy of J-rock/J-pop concert made true, I still like Ali Project :3

Nope. Never saw it. I guess I'll go try to find something of it... Ah well, everyone has their own music preferences, I suppose.  Not forcing anything on anybody (I hope I don't come off like that.) o.o;;

And I haven't heard of Yukito. Is it possible to get some info on her? I Googled it and came up with nothing. =/

I suppose. It's just that, to me at least, the recent trend in music preformers seems to be edging towards the entire Japanese music scene, not just people who did songs for anime. But I get where your coming from, and I see how that would be a little troubling in terms of keeping everything anime-related.

I wouldn't mind Kimeru, but he has his tour in Japan during Fanime..... *sobs in dark corner*

Orange Range would be fun. It would bring people to hear their music since their CD just released.

TM Revolution has a similar sound to Kimeru, so I would love him to come!

Elaborating from my guest suggestion post:

I second:
Shimokawa Mikuni - Beautiful voice.
UVERworld - Very awesome indeed.
All of I've. :D Gotta love that trance pop.

Wouldn't Horie be too much to ask? ^^;

My requests:
YUI - Sung the 5th ED song of Bleach with her single - Life. Maybe she might want to do some promotion for her latest single - Tokyo. She's a really promising young singer. ^-^
Hashimoto Miyuki - I first heard her in Final Approach's ED song - Love, Fate, Love. She did SHUFFLE!'s ED song - innocence. :3
YURIA - Sung SHUFFLE!'s OP song - YOU. More of that trance pop goodness.
Round Table & Nino - Round Table's music goes so well with Rino's lovely voice.

Former bands/singers that have come to the US that I enjoy are:

Duel Jewel
Nami Tamaki
Camino
T.M. Revolution
D'spairs Ray
Megumi Hayashibara

All of these were fun and I think most of these are realistic to have return to the U.S.

Other than that I'd love to see Utada Hikaru, or more J-rock bands!

This is on the front page! I wonder who it is going to be! I tried a web search on google but I came up with nothing. :(  Anyone find anything out!?

MusicFest Performers Confirmed!

MusicFest - FanimeCon's annual live music event - is exploding this year with a ton of new bands fresh from Japan and the U.S. We're changing gears this year and going to the Japanese underground music scene to bring you the best, cutting-edge music around.

We've signed the papers, bought the plane tickets, and prepped the stage. Stay tuned for more details on just who will be appearing and when!

A part of me hopes it's not VK...mainly for the reason that JRock is a such a huge genre, but it seems that a majority of the audience in the US likes to concentrate mostly on VK, probably one of the smallest subgenres of JRock out there. It would be nice to expose people to other kinds of Jrock...

Like...if you got to http://www.sound-tv.net you can totally see that there are a TON of different kinds of indie jrock bands who don't fall under VK...it would be nice to have audiences in the US more aware of that ^^;;

But yeah, I can't wait to find out who the bands are. Even though I can't make it this year ;___; *will be stuck in the Philippines for the whole month of May D: *

Band #3! They're slightly on the Pop side of the house, but they remind me of Sixpence None the Richer..

Clue for the next three:

#4 -- Rock group. They did some of the soundtrack for an anime that rocks and is not currently liscenced.. Out of the six, this is the one I'm most excited about!

#5 Pop Group -- Two girls named Ai

#6 Rock Group -- They're part of a genre that I think is called No Katakana, meaning that all of their lyrics are in kanji and hiragana (aka no foreign words).

I am posting sort of a correction as I am involved with the music fest this year.  People's Records is only ONE of the bands labels.  And that band is Poplar.  Swinging Popsicle is on another label.  And since not all the bands have been figured out I will say that more than half the other bands are independent.

And also 2 of the bands have had music on Beck.  I have seen all the bands live other than Swinging Popsicle and they all kick major ass live.  So this years music fest will certainly be awesome and you DO NOT want to miss it!!
