Latest Announcements

- This thread is a WIP at the moment.
- Our apologies for the late thread this year, but we are focusing most if not all of our announcements on our Gaming specific social media outlets for 2018.
- Game Saru is our free play arcade vendor and we will be having arcade tournaments, the first time in over a decade!
- Most department events/tournament announcements have been done through our "FanimeCon Gaming" social media accounts.
- We will be doing a limited amount of live streaming to twitch.tv - Please look forward to an upcoming announcement about this!

Information about FanimeCon's Gaming

FanimeCon 2018 Gaming has MANY areas of gaming to offer for our attendees:

- The "24 hour Gaming Hall" at Hall 3 @ San Jose Convention Center - Contains 24-hours of non-stop FREE PLAY arcades cabinets, tabletop games, and video games from the console and PC side.

- Campaign style RPG rooms in the Doubletree - Please follow the Warhorn link for more information -> https://warhorn.net/events/fanimecon-2018

- The "Tabletop Tournament & Events" room in the Hyatt Place is where we are hosting our card game tournaments this year (Friday/Saturday from 10 AM - 10 PM, and Sunday 10 AM - 6 PM)

- The Late Night Game Room (18+) is returning and operating in two locations and different days:

Day 1 / 2, May 25th/26th (Friday/Saturday) - Carmel + Monterey rooms @ Doubletree
Day 3 , May 27th (Sunday) - Grand Ballroom @ Hyatt Place

Operating times will be the same for both locations on occurring days: 6 PM - 12 AM.

- All three of our departments are operating awesome events & tournaments this year! Please check our "FanimeCon Gaming" Facebook outlet for the department tournament Event Pages (links TB-Added here).

Information about FanimeCon's Gaming

FanimeCon 2017 Gaming has two areas of gaming to offer for our attendees:

-The "24 hour Gaming Hall" at Hall 3 @ San Jose Convention Center - Contains 24-hours of non-stop arcades cabinets, tabletop games, and video games from the console and PC side.

-The "18+ Game Room", located in the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency across from the San Jose Convention Center. "Cards Against Humanity" anyone? (Please note: a valid government ID is required to enter this location)

-Our eGaming and Tabletop areas offer events & tournaments - check back in the future for the upcoming 2017 list!

  • South Bay Button Mashers are coming to Fanime with retro/indie console games, plus hosting a Nidhogg and Towerfall Ascension tournament!
  • AFK Gamer Lounge (AFKgg) are also coming this year with high end PC gaming computers, and hosting a CSGO tournament with prizing!
  • Showdown eSports will be providing setups for our Street Fighter V and Smash 4 tournament. Also, we have modified our Smash 4 rules to be based on EVO 2016's.

These are happening all convention. Please ask Tabletop staff if you wish to participate in a event and/or have any questions!

• Giant Jenga! Go play with a life-size tower of Jenga!
• Mahjong! Come and learn how to play, or if you already know, then just join in and have a go!
• Mangaka! The Fast and Furious Game of Drawing Comics!
• Terrene Odyssey! A game set in a fantasy world discovering its ancient industrial past!
• Nexus Shift! An RPG style similar to D&D and World of Darkness, with multiple settings, mainly "Intergalactic Empire" (Sci-Fi genre) and "Worldtree" ("Dark Fantasy" genre)!
• Our new Prototype/Demo Board Game section! Choose from a variety of never before seen board games, and learn how to play them!

The "Demo Dojo" series returns, in the form of "Tetris Medley", "Gamer's Gauntlet" and "Hall of Gaming"!
The mysterious and spooky "Scare Tent" is returning! It is located in our PC section area with a spectator monitor.
We have a Handheld section with recharging capabilities! This will be also the location of our Pokemon tournaments!
