Seems like as of today all hotels are already booked? Is that even possible? Or did they only have a certain number of rooms available for today's booking windows and only those are booked?

Just kinda worried since my group can't book til tomorrow.

I noticed today that availability was changing window to window and then every few minutes within a window.  I had 10am today (Wednesday) and 10 minutes before my block opened everything went unavailable.  Then it was really hard to find anything for maybe 10 minutes, then I was able to book Marriott (not my first choice).  Got the reservation taken care of, then reloaded the page every 5 minutes or so until I saw Hilton was available (what I wanted), and changed my reservation on the site.

I've also seen on the unofficial facebook group that someone reserved a single day at an outlier hotel, then called to get waitlisted immediately.  Within the hour CMR called them back with their preferred hotel booking.
Thank you! This helps clear things up, just gotta wait and see tomorrow now.

Hey everyone! Hope everyone had a good new year's! It's finally 2022 so time to really start planning for this!

I will aim to have the gathering on Friday in the early afternoon, but if enough people would prefer another day we can see about having it on another day. :3

It might still be a bit too early to plan, but I was thinking of maybe having the gathering by the snake statue at Cesar Chavez park(which is known as G10), I'm not sure how big the gathering will be, but I think this location could work! ^^

2020 would've been my 10th Fanime anniversary but I'm still gonna celebrate in 2022! :3

I still check these forums quite often, hoping they'll be resurrected one day.

Hello there and welcome to the 2022 Inuyasha/Yashahime Gathering! I will be your host for this gathering and I have decided to make a thread early on(perhaps to try and fill some of the void of no convention this year yet things are looking hopeful for next year!) Hopefully I can make it this time!

Plan to bring KH2 Kairi. :)

I do plan on at least checking out Virtual Fanime. If it can fill at least some of the void of not having an in-person con, then that's good enough for me.

Then we can all finally return in Fanime 2022! ^^

Panels and Workshops / Re: Virtual Panels?

Yeah, if I had plans to do a panel with friends this year, we likely would not be doing a virtual one.

That being said, I look forward to when we can have in person panels again!

This year would've been my 10th anniversary at Fanime, so next year I'll be celebrating that.

Gonna make it really count! :D

Yeahhhh he is bad news.

Hopefully he doesn't show up to next year's Fanime. :/ Or any other convention.

We will see what next year brings, but for now I'm planning either Sheeta or Satsuki at this point.

Gotta represent Ghibli 8) I miss that person who had the giant robot cosplay from Castle in the Sky! :(

Yeah I would love to have an option to get a refund. Has anyone tried to see if that's possible?

This sounds familiar to some 18+ panels I've seen hosted at FanimeCon in the past. You can submit as a normal panel (next year) and see if it gets accepted. You might be put in touch with Silver Island as they'll be looking for content, but that's still TBD due to Silver Island still being in the early years.

Yeah for the past couple years or so I've been part of an 18+ panel. We weren't put in Silver Island but we were put in a late night time slot on Sunday. :(

Sad that we won't be having Fanime this year, the wait's gonna be long but we'll make it!

Looks like the convention has been cancelled for this year. Which was to be expected.

I also think it should be postponed or cancelled. It's way too risky to still have the convention since it's in May and it's still dangerous to go out.

I know Fanime can't cancel right now cause they will lose too much money if they do right now, thus they might not be able to come back next year, so I'm sure they are just waiting til they have to.

They issued another statement:

https://www.fanime.com/news/covid-19-update-from-fanimecon-chair/

It seems they are going ahead with the convention unless they are forced to cancel.

Just talking out loud - but to me what this alludes to is that if by May we're still under shelter-in-place restrictions in California or Santa Clara County the convention would be postponed until Memorial Day Weekend 2021.  There have been many other events in the Bay Area that have done this, deferring to 2021 a couple weeks before the event date due to shelter-in-place.  The most recent I can think of is Bay to Breakers.

I mean there is always this tiny chance that by the end of May the restrictions will be lifted, and the I suppose it comes to individual attendee preference.  At this point I doubt that will happen however.
I'm betting they will have to cancel but for now they don't want to risk cancelling and going bankrupt so they're waiting it out.
