Oooo I love that idea!

Unfortunately the theme at fanime doesn't really amount to much. It would be cool if they'd actually decorate transform the convention to match the theme. Suppose that's not in budget, though.

Registration / Early Registration time
November 30, 2016, 05:54:58 PM
I saw a comment on the Fanime Registration announcement on Facebook where someone said " Also heads up. People were regging before 12 pm. Link actually went live an hour ago. Fanime does not know how to randomize links...."

Can anyone confirm if Fanime did indeed have the registration link up at 11 am instead of 12 pm? If this is true, I don't think this is very professional on Fanime's part. I wonder if they will even do anything about this?

I was 1 minute after and still feeling that wasn't enough time.  With Artist Alley, Dealers Hall, Press, and attendees fighting for a piece of the pie I wonder how many people pre registered right at noon

Very poor communication by Fanime but, I'll still be getting my badge right at noon!
I can't imagine how crazy hotel booking is going to be this year due to priority registration madness... I am nervous but remain optimistic!  Hopefully I'll be able to get one.

I don't think you should bank on Thursday night for attendance numbers.  Thursday night is for pre-reg.  Just because you will likely have a lot of pre-reg badges sold doesn't mean everyone is going to get there on Thursday.  Due to (likely) pre-registration requirements to be eligible to be put on the hotel registration block there will be a mad dash for pre-registration badge sales.  There is obviously not enough housing to go around and if you plan on this potentially awesome event to be put on based on pre-registration numbers there will be a lot of people who will miss out.  Friday would seem like the best bet.  Planning major events on Thursday is a waste.

Registration / Re: Linecon

The lines took forevor and there was little if not any communication between staff. Half the time my group didn't even know where the lines started and ended or went off to and when asked, staff just threw their arms up in the air as if they didn't know what was going on either.

If it is as bad today as yesterday I hope the staff at least knows what's going on more than the attendees.

Hotel and Facilities / hotel confirmation
May 19, 2016, 02:25:49 PM
I just received another confirmation for my hotel registration at the Hilton.  I thought that was random and weird so I called CMR housing to check on my reservation and they told me they were no longer in charge of housing as all information was sent over to the respective hotels and they could no longer help me. So I called the Hilton and they had no idea about my reservation even after giving them all the info on my email reservation. hmmmmmmmm

Ultimately I don't think the black and white ball attire really matters. It seems it always starts off with strict rules regarding attire and as the night goes on people in storm trooper costumes, brightly covered cosplay, or large prop items get allowed in eventually.

I wouldn't necessarily consider McDonald's food.  Nor would I consider it the best for of sustenance and nutrition for those who are already going to be devoid of most due to lack of sleep, dehydration, and excessive alcohol consumption.  Since the McDonald's is closed it might inadvertently make people have a slightly better diet during the con. Slightly. Maybe. Probably not.

Tried to book the Hilton Doubles from Thursday-Tuesday, immediate a lot of hotels became unavailable. As soon as I was booking the Hilton, it said it would be overselling for me to book and to call the number. They put me on a waitlist and I had to book the Ramada. We'll see if the waitlist works. They said I would know if the waitlist pops by the 17th of May, but to me that is really cutting it close to knowing what hotel you are staying at.

really? because i'm looking at it right now and it says available

I wonder what the actual room availability will be like once they factor in at con registration last year and artist alley/dealers hall attendees.  Since they get first dibs it's probably going to be slim chances of good hotels even for the people who registered right when it opened this year

I want to know exactly how they are choosing the reservation blocks. Like, if you registered at con on Monday I'm sure you get priority reservation. So what about when the con opened up for registration on the 21st? Do the people who registered in the first hour go into a priority block or is it people who registered within the first 5 days? It would be nice if they'd tell us.

It'd also be nice if they told us how they are doing the block system in case you are supposed to be in the block but they somehow missed you when they sent out emails

I'd have to agree with a lot of the things people are saying. I think this system is a great idea. You can't hope to please everyone. No matter what system is implemented or not implemented there will always be those who have something to say.

My only hope is that/suggestion is that fanime staff communicate foe effectively and strive to create time lines for fanime announcements and events/changes. Overall I am very excited and looking forward to this year's Fanime.
