Hello everyone,
So I am just starting this thread early for next year's Black and White Ball. I know it is only summer time and FanimeCon 2011 was only 3 months, but why not get an early start for next year. I have received some feedback that not all the songs this year fit everyone's thoughts on what should be played at a Black and White Ball. So here is your chance to provide input on what songs you would like to see in the playlist. Here are some things you should know about the playlist. The playlist is usually compiled from suggestions we receive through the forums, social media outlets, and word of mouth. The Black and White Ball staff then take the suggestions and see if it has a steady beat to dance to and if it fits with the type of dances for the evening. We understand that not all songs will be liked by everyone, but we do try to get a mix in there to make sure that there is a variety of music. The staff then has to make sure that the sound is at the right levels, we have to make sure the tempo is right, and we have to cut some of the songs for length. Due to all of this, we have to have the playlist done early (before the month of May usually) and this prevents us from taking requests at The Black and White Ball. Also, judging from last year, there was a big push of requests in the couple of weeks leading up to the BWBall, but we could not accommodate some of those songs because it was so close to the event. So get your requests in early.
So with that said, this is your chance to give your input on what you would like to hear at the Black and White Ball. Please remember that even though you make a request, the Black and White Ball staff will have the final say of what goes on the playlist. If you really feel strongly about a song, say so and provide support for it. We are looking for all types of music from pop, jpop, anime, video game, etc... So don't be afraid to offer up suggestions. It also helps if you can link a video or audio clip of the song with your requests but it is not required. You can also email us with your requests at

*UPDATE* With FanimeCon only a couple of months away, BWBall is getting our playlist together. Please keep in mind that we are not able to take requests directly at Black and White Ball so all requests need to be done before hand through this forum. There was some concern over music choices last year so if you have any suggestions or requests, do them here! We are open to all suggestions. Due to our editing process we will be closing the request list for 2012 at the end of the first week in April. Anything submitted after that will be taken into consideration for 2013! These are the only two I can think of for the Black and White Ball. Also Tank! is swing and you can have a dance without a swing.

[email protected]. Please note that BWBall staff will look over the suggestions and if we feel that it is a good fit for the ball then we will put it into our playlist for BWBall. As a reminder, because the Ball has specific dances and things, we are not able to accomodate requests at the event itself so if you do have a request you would need to get them in as soon as you can. We still need to come up with the playlist, edit songs for sound if needed, and determine the order of the songs.
There were a couple of songs that are being heavily suggested and we hear you but I wanted to give you some possible reasons why they are not played.
1) Waltz to the Moon from FFVIII - Although in the game, the song was used during a dance and many people in the forums have been suggesting the song, the song is actually a Vienneze Waltz. Currently, we do not have any lessons for the dance and if people try to ad-lib and dance their own way on the dance floor while trying to do a V. Waltz, accidents can happen and injuries could happen.
2) Tank - Cowboy Bebop - A lot of people like this song too thinking that it is a swing dance. It is a fast dance and the tempo of the song makes it so it is impossible to do a swing dance to it (unless you feel like running your feet like you were sprinting for the duration of the song). Again to reduce the incidence of injuries and accidents, we have not used the song for a while.
We try to see if there a version of songs that will fit in with the BWBall but sometimes it is hard to find a remix or anything that would allow people to dance to their favorite songs. We try to accomodate all suggested music but we still need to make sure the song is danceable and fits in with BWBall goals.

We can do that. It is just that no one has really requested any of the lesson musics to be in the playlist. We can take a look at that this year. Thanks for the suggestion.
