Title: Marathon suggestions for fanime 2009
Post by: Knightfire on April 24, 2008, 07:10:58 PM
I've been keeping up with my dates, and it appears that next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the Mobile Suit Gundam Franchise. So my suggestion would be for next fanime (2009) to Run mutiple marathons of past Gundam Shows.

What do you guys think of this?

I think they'd need at least 3 rooms to do it any justice.

I think since R:2 of Geass is ending this year in Japan, I believe we should have a Season 1 and two of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion  Marathon.

Only saw Season 1 to the pubic, Why not R:2?

(To the other person, It was Fanime 2007 that held the marathon to Season 1.)

Because it will be showing on CN soon, by the time fanime 2009 comes around they will already be done with R2.

But doesn't the tc want a marathon with SUBS, instead of the dubbed version?  :P Just asking.

It'll still be easy to find by then. Fanime marathons should be a LITTLE more obscure than "This is the latest big thing to hit Cartoon Network!" IMO.
Title: Re: Marathon suggestions for fanime 2009
Post by: iKuraudo on August 21, 2008, 11:35:38 PM
I believe it should be subs, because the view of season one back in 07 was straight subs.

Unfortunately, both seasons are licensed by Bandai.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-08-13/code-geass-r2-anime-sequel-to-run-on-adult-swim-in-u.s (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-08-13/code-geass-r2-anime-sequel-to-run-on-adult-swim-in-u.s)

So support them by watching it on Cartoon Network or buy the DVDs when they go on sale.

If we're lucky, they may allow Fanime to show some of the episodes.

Yeah, I remembered season 1 is licensed by them, but I was always thinking about season two.
Good call. Maybe we could pop in a DVD or so and change the language and add subtitles.. I already have the volume 1 limited edition set of Geass here at home ..

I thought we could show season 2 (At least part of it or a Marathon, maybe once the DVDs came out.

since this year will be the 11th anniversary of Gekiganger 3 finally ending, I think it would be the perfect opportunity to show this classic series. It's a big deal, but a lot of people missed out on it at the time and it's hard to get ahold of nowadays. So, I think a marathon of Gekiganger 3 would be one of the best things Fanime could do for older and younger fans. Though, I'll probably skip the last episode because I don't want it to end.

for those of you who are clueless, this whole post is tongue-in-cheek.

Don't you mean Nadesico? Gekiganger was a show within Nadesico?

Can people stop requesting anime you can just watch on T.V.? It's pretty dumb, I'd honestly like to see something more obscure.

Sorry, I don't watch the U.S. Version of Geass. I own the Japanese Version set of Season 1 and working on buying the Dvds (Imported of Season 2.) Season 2 of Geass, is what I was hoping for on the Geass marathon. Not Season 1. (As it is already Showing in the US.)

I agree, but only with Guren Laggan ! LOL

We would have to see if Bandai Ent would let us marathon both R1 and R2 since it is
licensed and all.

Gokusen is a lovely, comic tail that could be viewed joyfully by all.

What could be played:
* Anime
* Live action season 1
* Live action season 2
* Live action season 3

@.@ I dunno...

The Live Actions kinda get boring after the first season... they're all the same after that...

I'm not sure about the Anime since I didn't watch it, though.

Hi Everyone,
so you want to know about what were showing for marathons? Well here is what we might be showing:

Dmc + movie

One Piece: Thriller Bark arc

Clannad AFter Story

Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens

Rosario + Vampire both Seasons

Toradora

Vampire knight total both Seasons

Bleach Arrancar vs Shinigami eps 190 – 212

I was also thinking about Marathoning Michiko to Hatchin but will see. Please remember this is NOT a final list of marathons for this year and Shows might change, but keep your eyes open to this link as we get closer to con time.

Are we allowed to show licensed shows? Here's some shows that were good but are often overlooked or is worth rewatching. I'm not sure what's good in a con environment so hopefully it's not too obscure. Let me know what you guys think. Unless specified, none of them should be licensed yet.

Kara no Kyoukai (movies 1 through 5, good time to recap for the soon to come #6)
Natsume Yuujinchou
Ga-Rei Zero
Chaos;Head
Akagi
Kaiji
ONE OUTS (subs are pending on last 3 eps)
kure-nai
Bamboo Blade (licensed)
Maria Holic
Minami-ke ~Okaeri~ (kekeke haven't watched this yet but i'm just throwing it out there)

Episodic comedies usually make for good marathon material, since you can take a break from watching it and come back not feeling lost as to what's going on.  How about Gintama?

Hi Jerry!  Thanks for approving my marathon requests of Clannad After Story, Kannagi Crazy Shrine Maidens, and Toradora!

Please in the regular anime fansub room show the most popular Anime that is very hot in Japan named K-ON!  Its like the next Haruhi but involves a bunch of High School Girls Trying to make a Band.  Its so popular that I feel an Anime that is doing too well in Japan has to be shown in Fanime.  Please put in a couple of episodes in the schedule.  Thanks.

I know it's silly, because nobody seemed to like this movie, but I did. Why not a Dragonball or prefferably, a Dragonball Z marathon, since the Evolution movie came out?

Or for maybe an Asian Cinema Marathon, what about a Godzilla Marathon?

It is the Detroit Metal City marathon. It will be very interesting to see it with an audience. The live action movie was too funny.
