General Anime Chat / What Anime Series Do You Follow Now?
February 06, 2006, 07:42:03 PM
Quote from: "Tsubasa"Tsukihime, on the other hand, had major changes from episode 1.  I'm sorry, but I don't need another emo protagonist. -.-

That's how I felt. Shiki was a badass in the original game, but then when the anime got ahold of him... It just wasn't the Shiki Tohno I knew and loved anymore.
As for F/sn, you're right, so far it's doing a great job of sticking to the source material. What I really like is how the anime is seemingly combining all three arcs of the game into one for the show. That being the case, I may very well get to see some of my favorite scenes animated that I thought for sure would be omitted...!

I'm just watching one anime right now, and that would be Fate/stay night. I've been waiting for this show for what seems like forever, and so far I've been loving every minute of it. In my opinion, it's doing a lot better than Type-Moon's other game-to-anime adaptation, Tsukihime...

I'm actually quite surprised at the number of people Fate/stay night has won over that have never even heard of it before the anime started airing. Popularity like this bodes well for the future of Type-Moon!

Personally, I use this guy!

That's smart. I've played Fate/stay night, although I use that term loosely since I can't read Japanese, and despite that I've done my best to keep the story as fresh as possible for when I can read it, there are times when my curiosity gets the better of me and I'll look up a thing or two just to get some understanding. Still, at this rate I'll probably see the Fate anime long before I learn Japanese.

I should consider myself an anime newbie since I know nearly nothing about Beserk. Well, beside that it is bloody and I couldn't afford a $15 manga >.>
But since it seems to be so popular, maybe I should give it a chance?

Berserk is very good, though I think it's safe to say that it isn't for the faint of heart. Still, I would defenitely recommend it. If anything, you could always go to your local bookstore and flip through a copy of Berserk to see if it's something you like.

Good eye, Tsubasa. Both you and Sushi are defenitely on the right track. This guy is from Fate, but he only appears in the last story arc.

There has been rumors for a couple of years now about doing another round of Berserk. I kinda think it will not happen until the manga is over and it still has a lot of volumes to go. At this point anything that would be considered animated is thru the video games like the PS2 game that came out almost a year ago. Kinda weird that there was promotion for it at E3 in 04 but it was never released.. oh well :(

I actually hear that Media Blasters, the company that originally licensed Berserk for its American release, is desperate to have a second season made. Can't say I blame them, since they usually get stuck with the leftovers from the other, larger anime distribution companies.
And I know what you mean about the Berserk PS2 game! I'm really bumming that it hasn't been released in America. My friend downloaded a copy of the Japanese version and I got to play it on his modded PS2. Suffice to say... I wet myself. If I had the money, I'd buy a PS2 just for that game. Actually, that's why I bought my Dreamcast; so I could play the Berserk Dreamcast game!

QuoteKinda off topic rant:  I wish the translated volumes of Berserk was not $15
a pop so at least I could collect them. Heh tho I am stuck now from collecting the japanese volumes.. :P

$15 is a lot, and I'm in the same boat as you. Well, look on the bright side: The Japanese volumes have fancy jackets!

You get a thumbs-up from me. Whether or not that's worth anything is up to you! But anyway, no anime in my biased opinion deserves a second season more than Berserk. I love how far the manga takes the story, but I would love even more to see the further adventures of Guts and co. animated.

And like Ryu mentioned, more UC Gundam never hurt anyone! Especially if it involves the Red Comet!

Haven't posted here in forever. I'm surprised my account still works. Sucks having to go back to recomet15 though... Dammit, can't believe I forgot the "d" in red. But anyway...

Sorry, Tsubasa, that one's over my head. As for Suspicious' picture, I'm gonna guess Curly Brace from Cave Story. Hope I'm right, cause now I'm gonna post a pic of my own...

Sure, this guy causes a lot of grief, but I can't get over how cool he looks!

Big Event Showcase / Music Fest?
May 27, 2005, 05:53:08 PM
Where exactly will Music Fest be held? And will it cost extra to get inside? Meaning, if I paid to get into Fanime, will I have to pay to get into Music Fest too?

General Anime Chat / Bloodiest anime ever

Just about everything I would suggest has already been mentioned... except for Berserk. Berserk is crazy bloody violent often times disturbing entertainment. It's defenitely worth checking out.

General Anime Chat / Hardest to Draw?
April 29, 2005, 05:00:22 PM
Definitely the hardest for me are hands and feet. But that's where creative positioning comes into play. Still, I can't always get away with creative positioning. When that's the case, I can draw hands and feet relatively well. They're just a little tricky to do.

General Anime Chat / Funnyest Animes

I'll just vote for one: SD Gundam. And like Ryu said, not that crap Toonami played; I'm talking about the original from back in the day. How can you go wrong with a super deformed Char Aznable? How can you go wrong with anything that has Char Aznable?

Quote from: "Kyle stabell"RANMA 1/2 :D

BAH.. you and your ranma. Ok allredy,, we know you love your ranma..

Oh.. my fav has got to be Maison Ikkoku.. OH yea.. guess what, Rumiko Takahashi.. LOL =^-^= (Giggles) Its like ranma but with out the kunfu fighting and sillyness. If you want to grow up read this one. Its like the Grown up version of ranma.

Pblth. If you want to grow up, put away your silly shoujo mangas and check out something with a hairy chest, like Berserk! ... No, of course I'm kidding; after all, everyone is entitled to their own favorite(s), and that's why I personally think it's ok if Kyle has a preference for Ranma 1/2, even if his love does lean towards obsession. Lord knows how much I love my Berserk! Speaking of which:

1. Berserk
After that, in no particular order...
*Rurouni Kenshin
*Chrno Crusade
*Tsukihime
*Get Backers

General Anime Chat / What is da worst anime EVER?
August 26, 2004, 12:39:14 PM
Calling DBZ the worst anime ever is a bit unfair. True, it's a little simple and not very heavy on story, but that's because it wasn't really meant for "mature" viewers. It's just a fun show that American tweens really seem to like; it's not the greatest anime, but it's definitely not the worst. There's plenty of crap out there that makes DBZ look like a masterpiece, but I won't list any as I may inadvertently offend someone.

A better name for this topic would be "Anime you despise".

General Anime Chat / Yaoi? Chibi? Define plz...
June 06, 2004, 09:32:28 PM
I keep hearing a term that I'm unfamiliar with, and I'm hoping someone out there can give me a definition. The word is "sugoi"; I'm not sure if that's the correct spelling, since I've only heard it and never read it, but I generally hear it being exclaimed by perky energetic J-pop stars. Any help would be appreciated.
