Okay, so this is an idea I had. There's a lot of people that cosplay their OC characters and can't really do panels with those characters. I want to possibly hold a games panel where it is a bunch of different OCs hosting different games with audience participation and prizes/giveaways (maybe an auction as well). Hopefully we could do an all ages panel for the "lighthearted" characters and an 18+ for the characters that swear a ton, are overly sexual, extremely violent, etc.; although the "lighthearted" characters are not excluded from this one, it's just to give that variety for people that don't want to change their characters to the point of being a PG character (if that makes any sense at all).
So general panel layout (this would be for both):
Introduction of the Characters (hopefully I will be able to script it with the other panelists)
Game 1
Game 2
Game 3
Game 4+ (If there's time)
Auction/Raffle/Giveaways? (Possibility)
Closing Skit
So I definitely am looking for suggestions for this and I will update this page as I get more ideas from myself and anyone that gives me one I really like. So I guess just PM me with any ideas or even if you're interested in helping with this panel in any way, whether it's behind the scenes stuff or with actually being in the panel. And just in case I am going to start a character list at the bottom in case anyone wants to join this early on. I look forward to seeing ideas and what others think of this idea.

So far, a couple of artists, some YouTubers and some voice actors.

Some people are flat-out complaining already on FaceBook posts XD

Also, I bought my weekend ticket and reserved a hotel room recently.

Idk if the Facebook complainers are just doing it for the sake of complaining, or they're really putting unrealistic expectations on a con's first year. :P

That said, I'll still plan on going, provided that I'm able to get the weekend off. If this and the following years do well, I can imagine it being a viable alternative to AX.

Some shoutouts to people I met at Fanime:

To Gabby: Real fun chatting with you in the cosplay hangout.  Would be happy to connect offline and (now that I'm out of costume) feel I can trust you with my real name; message me privately for that.

To "Flora": You were a great dance partner.  Wish I'd thought to ask to take a picture of your cosplay because validation but by the time i thought to do so, it was almost time for me to leave to catch public transit.

To Kelly; Glad to meet you.  Having a place to sit and settle between dances (or if I wanted to rest my feet) made a big positive impact.  Thank you for being so welcoming.

Instead of bands that have already been here, I'm going to suggest the cool ones that most people don't know (YET!):

(Vocalist Geno from Everset, Bass NATCHIN from SIAM-SHADE, Guitar by Mi-ya from LOVEBITES/a Drop of Joker)

From http://www.jpurecords.com/lovebites-ep/ -
Citing influences that include Iron Maiden, Anthrax and Sodom, band leader and bass-player miho comments, “I really wanted to perform heavy metal in a band with other women, and create the kind of music that even non-metal fans would say ‘wow, metal is so cool’ about. That’s why I created LOVEBITES. I’d love to do so many great things with the band, and THE LOVEBITES EP is the first step for that.”

The members of LOVEBITES are no strangers to the music industry. Founding members miho and haruna have been session musicians for a number of top acts, and were originally part of the popular all-girl metal band DESTROSE. Vocalist asami – who has been doing classical ballet since the age of two, and studied jazz and hip hop dance in the United States of America – has toured as backing vocalist for the likes of VAMPS (JPN) and UVERworld; guitarist midori has been signed to a major Japanese label where she built a reputation for the speed of her guitar solos; mi-ya has been playing piano since the age of three and is also in a band with SIAM SHADE’s bass-player called 21g.
I saw them perform in November and they were so polished/professional despite playing together live for the first time that I came away impressed and think within a year they will be huge/many people will know of them.

Chay was in Terrace House and has done some really great music (produced by Koichi Tabo!) In November I saw her perform the song above as well as a great cover of "Let it Be" by the Beatles & "Isn't She Lovely" as part of a Stevie Wonder Medley performed by her, Crystal Kay, Toshinobu Kubota, Daisuke Mori and a guy from Triceratops which I'm blanking on his name...).

Ah, hope someone decides to host this next year, then! :( I'm finally doing idol cosplay again next year........ T___T (Since I might have to host the Final Fantasy and Ouran gatherings next year I think this would be too much for me. :X )

I saw at least one food truck somewhere between the convention and the Jack in the Box at night.

I have a vague recollection of this being brought up years ago, and the argument against it was basically that there was nowhere for them to park during the weekend.

I know that you can find the occasional food truck near the park during con weekend, but there's nothing really official or a place for them to congregate. I agree with the above posters that there's a ton of affordable and good options in the area, though, and it seems like food trucks haven't really become part of this con because of the lack of need as much as anything.

Certainly, if there's a place for them, it's an idea, and could probably benefit some congoers, especially if there were late-night options, but I'm not sure how this would work logistically.

I like Food Trucks but don't think that there's an urgent need for them at Fanime. The San Jose Convention Center is steps away from a ton of cheap, moderately divey, tasty mid-range options. This is different than, say, Anaheim, where everything close to their Convention Center is either fast food or stuffy hotel resto/steakhouse, with two exceptions (a Mexican and Persian restaurant) which aren't even that close.

That said, this year Silicon Valley Comic Con held a festival in Cesar Chavez Park that was open to the public and had a great selection of Food Trucks. Maybe Fanime could see if it makes sense to do something similar.

Well, I know there are some cheap options definitely, but there's also a lot of very expensive options downtown. Also the McDonald's is now gone, so one less cheap option unfortunately. And I do know some food trucks can be expensive, but I still think having them as an option might be a good idea! I know the cheap options aren't very far of a walk for most, but as a cosplayer, I would definitely love some more options very close to the convention center. I might just be a little lazy haha
