Live Programming and Events / Re: About Stage Zero
January 15, 2012, 04:08:07 PM
You know . . . that's a good question.  :) Thank you Motoko for asking.

Originally the idea or premise for Stage Zero was to be many things.

  • First and foremost a location that would keep con-goers up to date on event's and changes as they happen.
  • A place for entertainment, social interaction, and audience participation.
  • A location for promotion of other events happening at the con.
  • A place for performances that would like to perform outside of the confines of a panel room or performance room.

Now if you look at that list and then look at Stage Zero in the past you might notice some discrepancies. I will be the first to admit over the years we have lost our way and forgot the main reason we were allowed to be a part of Fanime. We are here to keep everyone in the know about schedule changes, cancelations, big and small events, etc. I know allot of people will look at Stage Zero and say that it seems to be only a performance stage, and I guess you would be right. This year I hope to change things I am putting a much greater focus on the events happening in and around the convention and keeping you the attendees informed when things change around. This is a bit of trick when we have over 50 different departments and each one is running at a mad dash to try and keep your experience seamless and flawless.

I hope that this year we are able to achieve our original intentions and utilize our location and technology to better serve all attendees of Fanime.

Stage Zero is currently looking into hosting for a late-night extended show showcasing Asian music videos, anime music videos, and other videos either after midnight, or before our early morning programming.  We are looking for someone who is more then interested in just getting up there and playing the videos they like but to talk a little bit about the video or have a reason behind playing that video. But that is currently one Idea we are looking for a host because we want there to be interaction with the audience otherwise we would just put the system on random and go with it. If you are interested in hosting for this, please drop us an e-mail at [email protected] and let's see if we can work something out!

If you are accepted for the position you will receive a Panal Badge good for the whole weekend as per the Panal Rules "3 hours of panels* = A full weekend pass to the convention for you."

Video Programming / Re: Fanime FMV 2011 Survey
December 06, 2010, 02:54:36 PM
@ Jebus and Forester, I cannot speak for jose(AMV Head) But im trying to make sure we have a spot open for his award show on Stage Zero on sunday. I'm sure he has been working tirelessly with the coordinator of the Civic Auditorium to see if he can have time on Saturday.

When it comes to the Audio. I know that jose normalizes the audio. The audio at the civic was an issue with the technician and not the content. I think it took the tech a while to clue into the fact that he was pushing the lows to much and distorting the mids by running the gain to hot.

Recap at the end? Is there a big desire for the recap video at the end of the contest? I think I could petition jose to work on that.

My question. . .

What do think would be easier for people to vote with? A number system or just using the name of the video?

@ewu, thank you for trying to help and getting in contact with us.

@Phantomhive.LolitaKei, we have been asked this year to allow only fanime events on our stage I.E Fanimaid Cafe Live Performance, AMV awards, etc. So I'm sorry but we will not be accepting any applications to be on our stage. Now I would like to say that this might change but I can make no guarantees. If it does change a forum post will be made showing times and information required to apply for said times. There is no fee to use the stage and you are limited to the time slot you would apply for. Thank you for wanting to be part of our stage this year and im sorry we cannot accomodate you right now.

Well I'm glad to know that I left a pungent and flavorful taste in everyone's mouth. :(

Yes this year I have stepped down, as I need to focus more on Stage Zero then on any other project. And to add onto that I feel that is why I wasn't giving you the AMV community the quality time you deserve, I had spread myself thin between the two. So I'm very happy to have Jose take over for me, I know he is more then adequate to complete the job.

I would like to defend myself a bit though. Yes the first year was very, very rough. 3 hours long and painful for everyone involved. The next year I was only allotted a very small window and had to work within those parameters, same for the next year. Jose will also have to deal with this as sadly even at Fanime AMV kinda come second to anything else. But let's not dwell on that.

Oh and yes a BIG F^*$ing mistake to do themes. I will stand behind never ever doing themes ever again. In fact when I gave the show to Jose I made sure themes were out. No more.

Jose and I worked on putting the rules together as Fanime itself was wrapping up in 09. We wanted to make sure that you guys had ample time to start making you AMV's. In fact we have next years Rules ready to go to.

To CorellianJones:
If you know from past years we have had some nudity. If it's for all of 19 frames don't worry just as long as there is nothing derogatory about it normally makes it past the AMV sensors. Good Luck!

And Good Luck to everyone, I can't wait to watch this year.

Thank you everyone weather or not you agreed with my decisions, for giving me this chance, and working with me to iron out the Contest that I now give to Jose.

Wendell And I "Sean" are interested in hearing what you think would be good tips for Fanime con.
I.E: Wash, Eat, Etc.

After we get a good selection we choose some that we like have them transelated into Japanese and then taped for use during next years con at Stage Zero. So let's get those minds turning.

HEY! Mr. Moderator! If you'd be so kind as to move all the off topic posts off this thread so we may get back to asking about How Stage Zero went?

Thanks,
Sean

When it comes to placement of videos for this year, we didn't have enough time to contact the editors so what ever category they chose we left their video in there. And the Title bumpers kept the order of "Editor, Title, Artist, Song, Anime" it did this on every single video, But I agree and next year I will have the Bumpers listed off with Editor: Editor Name / Title: Title Name ..... And so on. I dont normally do this as it takes up way to much space and I would rather have the Info up there uncluttered.

So in general you felt that the selection was lacking, that's ok. Right now the AMV community is kinda split into two groups REALLY GREAT AMV's and so-so AMV's. I don't think i can do anything about this, its up to the editors to step up *which many have* and make AMV's that every time we hear the song we play the AMV back in our head.

Thank you for your feedback.

You did a great job on our stage this year ;D. My coordinator was giving you signals, he met the minimum 3 hand signals before I had to step in and be the big jerk I sometimes can be. I apologize for making you feel uncomfortable or put off. I had been told that you had disregarded the signals and I had to step in. Thank you again for jumping up on our stage and giving one heck of performance.
