Hotel and Facilities / Reserve more then 1 room?
January 17, 2018, 08:23:43 AM
So I got my room booked, but during that process, I went thru the booking steps twice, since the first time I did not get to the confirmation page. The 2nd go around I got my confirmation and my email right away, but an hour or so later I got another confirmation email with the room I initially tried to book and I presumed failed.
Going to the modify reservation page, both confirmation codes seem to confirm that the rooms are indeed booked, but I was under the impression we could only have 1 room booked per badge, and the confirmation page seems to concur that. Was anyone else able to book more then 1 room or did I somehow manage to bug my way to a 2nd room (not a surprise given the sites bugginess =P)?

I hope everyone had a good weekend this year?

I unfortunately did not.

PreEvent
For the most part everything was ready and I was excited and rearing to go. Despite my terrible allergies this year which developed into a annoying cough, I actually was a bit more energetic then I normally am, and I took all the usual precautions to help alleviate those allergies.

Thurs
Fine for a Day 0 for the most part. Got Pretty drunk and Swap Meet, went around town eating. Found this Icecream Sandwich place called Creme a couple of blocks out after learning B&J closed, amazing place with fresh warm cookies for the sandwich as well as some other options.

Fri
Wasted a lot of time waiting for people to show up for our dinner deal we usually do, as well as getting people into cosplay. Overall an Ok, but uneventful day.

Sat
Started out alright. Then came back to the hotel to find a friend over-drank. Long Story Short, he fell in the bathroom and threw up several times while unconscious. Requiring us to get into the muck and turn him over on his side so he wouldn't drown on his own vomit. After a few hours when he regained some consciousnesses he could not tell us some basic information, and one of our guests (Great guy that stayed around the entire time to help out) told us we had to call the ambulance after that because he may have a concussion. So after they came and took him away, I had to go and clean up the pool of vomit. Most of my latter part of the night was wasted there.

Sun
I was determined to make use of this day best I could and not be held up by my friends dilly dallying, but at this point it seems I got extra unlucky and developed a sinus infection of sorts, and after a few hours out at Con I was incapacitated and had to retire. Missed the vast majority of the night, but still managed to stay up from the ruthless cough that I had developed which required constant maintenance.

Mon
Well I still felt like shit, but was mobile enough to clear out my rooms and get a few items out of the dealers hall, though I didnt get to bargain at all being effectively as dead as I was, which for me is usually half the fun of the Dealers Hall on Monday. Overall I was looking forward to getting back home. Had some miso soup at a sit down Chinese place near Ramada. Got my traditional Buritozilla as my Fanime castaway. Immediately went to my parents place to get antibiotics. Hoping this infection dies down over the week.

PostWrapup
Overall, probably the worst Con I have been to, and that sucks because for the most part it had little to do with the Con itself, which from what I saw had some decent content available that I would enjoy. And this is usually my one vacation for the year where I can ignore school and work and relax (albeit while getting plenty of exercise from walking around).

Looks like we are going to have pretty perfect weather all weekend long in mid+ 70s. A little cloud cover a few days but nothing major.

https://weather.com/weather/tenday/l/USCA0993:1:US
http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/san-jose-ca/95110/daily-weather-forecast/347630?day=1

That heat wave at the beginning of the week should hopefully not stick around. At most we might see some 80s.
Or these can be totally inaccurate.

(and this year Im pretty sure I didnt look at the wrong week!)

https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2017-02-09/crunchyroll-announces-its-own-convention-after-surpassing-1-million-paid-subscribers/.111974

QuoteMedia distribution service Crunchyroll announced on Thursday that it is partnering with LeftField Media to launch a new anime convention titled Crunchyroll Expo (CRX) this year. The convention is scheduled for August 25-27 in Santa Clara, California at the Santa Clara Convention Center. Crunchyroll has launched a website for the event.

With only being 3 months apart and not even 10 miles from Downtown San Jose, this convention could have a huge impact on Fanime if it becomes a regular thing over the next fw years, assuming it stays in the same location.

Its pretty interesting though. Id like to go, but know how my wallet or time will manage it.

General Convention Discussion / Fanime Weather
May 11, 2016, 04:47:01 PM
We still have 2 weeks so it can possibly change but apparently we might have a little rain at the beginning of Con I didn't read the calendar correctly and it might actually just be a little cloudy

Hotel and Facilities / Panel Rooms at Fairmont 2015
March 15, 2015, 07:42:23 PM
So I took note that the Panel Rooms will again be at the Fairmont for 2015.

I was wondering why they got switched from the Marriott this year and 2014. I can't speak for all attendees but at least for me the Fairmont is just so far off from the main convention center that I really couldn't squeeze room in to go to a panel last year. When in the Marriott it was much easier to just stroll into a random panel to waste some time in between other events/panels without making it a 10-15 min walk back and forth to the convention center. And it just seems like having everything localized in the convention center makes sense.

Hotel and Facilities / Merge rooms
November 12, 2014, 07:42:37 PM
So I managed to snag 2 hotel rooms at the Hyatt from Friday to Sunday and Sunday to Monday respectively. They both appear to be the same room type unless I am readying something wrong, so I was wondering if it is possible to merge the reservations?

And I assume I would contact Housing to do this if it is possible, correct?
#13
I need to confirm for the card holder of my room, If a Reservation is cancelled before April 27th, there will be no charge to the card correct?
Also, reserving the room now will not put any charge on the card until it is either cancelled after April 27th or at check-in, correct?

Staff & Volunteers / Question About Volunteering.
May 02, 2011, 02:52:12 PM
So I have been contemplating Volunteer work with my friend to allow him to go this year with me. However, when without someone he knows he is reclusive and socially Awkward, making him reluctant to attempt to.
How possible would it be to get a Volunteer position which would allow us to work closely together, in order to avoid his social problems?

Gaming / GoW3 Beta: Thoughts
April 17, 2011, 09:34:18 PM
So I have been playing Beta sense Yesterday night. Some thoughts at first glance.

First off it plays extremely well and feels much like GoW1. It is not choppy and as flawed as GoW2. All the old weapons are there, with 2 new starting weapons: The Retro Lancer and Sawoff Shotgun.

The Sawoff Shotgun has less range and only a single bullet, but is extremely powerful. If it lands a blow you will likely drop. However you pretty much have to be point blank and if you miss you are Efed. Unless you are competent with your aim, use the Gnasher.

Then we have the Retro Lancer, the greatest flaw in the game right now. It is extremely poweful and while has a large bloomk window, can be ignored at close to mid range and burst fire will keep it on par with Hammerburst and Lancer on the Long. Not only this, but it has a Bayonet. By holding 'B' you can charge with it. If you clear a certain distance it is a Execution, otherwise, a normal beatdown damage. Even if it does not one shot you can quickly follow up with another beatdown or bullets. The Charge is extremely skill less and is pretty much the best way to sprint in the game, having little disadvantage other then having a timer, which incidentally returns to full right after you drop out of the charge, leaving only a moment of slow speed which is not to bad. Overall, it is very OP, at least compared to the Lancer and Hammerburst. Though the Gnasher remains at a advantage by a inch at close range, though it is quite possible to out do a Gnasher closeup with ease.

Overall a good improvement over GoW1, and definitely better then the disaster of Gow2.

On a Neapolitan Ice Cream Sandwich, which side do you start eating first?

I personally start on the Strawberry Side.

Me and my friend will be distributing Mystery Gift Events this year at Fanime for 4th Gen Pokemon Games.

Note that this is a unofficial event and is not associated with FanimeCon or it's staff in any way.

Are current list of Mystery Gifts:
QuoteTested Events:
Japanese 10th Anniversery Mew
Draco Meteor Jirachi (Gamestop)(Unlocks Night Sky Edge on Pokewalker)
TRU Movie Arceus (Unlocks HG/SS event)
UK Movie11 Shaymin (Unlocks Gracidea Flower)
Japanese WCS 2010 Eevee
Pikachu colored Pichu (Gamestop)
Pokewalker Course: Yellow Forest
Pokewalker Course: Sightseeing
Deoxys (Gamestop)

Untested Events:
TRU Regigigas
Pokewalker Course: Winner's Path
Oaks Letter
Secret Key
Member Card

There are a few other events unlisted.

We will be charging a 25c inconvenience fee to change in between each event, however anyone is free to download the events if/when they are up (like we could stop you).
All Pokemon obtained are legitimate and should pass any hack check. For best compatibility we suggest you bring a copy of Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, as they are compatible with almost every event.

We will be distributing Mystery Gifts throughout the weekend. To find us simply look for me in my Danboard Cosplay (Picture Below).

I will have my Cosplay on at various times throughout the weekend depending on my schedule. To get a rough idea here is the times I should be expected to be seen:

QuoteThursday 7pm - 10pm
Friday     8am - 1pm
Saturday 9am - 12pm
Sunday   9am - 12pm
Monday   9am - 12pm

These are generalized times, and can change depending on my schedule and the weather. I MAY or MAY NOT have the cosplay on at different times then these. And we will not be in any set place during the set times
We will also be distributing Mystery Gifts outside of these times, but sense I won't be wearing a cosplay it will be quite difficult to find us.

As a final note, we are not responsible for any problems you may experience with are Events, if any. We have tested most of these and have not received any problems, but that does not mean you won't. It is unlikely at best but if a problem does occur remember you decided to take the risk, not us.

See you at Con!

Staff & Volunteers / Swap Meet Staff Hour Minimum?
April 01, 2010, 12:43:43 PM
I took note in the fact that Swap Meet Staff seems to work 16 hours, according to the Staff Page. Being Swap Meet Staff, do you need to work a additional 4+ hours to reach the usual 20 Hour Minimum for staff or does the 16 suffice?
Just curious. I don't have any plans to staff this year but it's a tidbit of info I'd like to know.

Gaming / Forum's Tabletop RPG Session 2010
March 26, 2010, 09:45:17 AM
So I think it is high time we all start talking about making plans for another session of a Tabletop RPG game. Last year a group of us forum goers set up and played a session of D&D4e and Maid RPG. I think it would be great to have another session or two again this year, especially for some Maid RPG madness.

I have been contemplating which Hotel I want to be at Fanime'10.

First we got the Hilton.
Pros:
-Cheap
-Close to the Dealers Hall
-Close to the Dance
-Close to Maid Cafe

Cons:
-Distant from the Main Sections (Video Room and E-Gaming) of the Con

Then the Mariott:
Pros:
-Close to a large section of the Con
-Particularly the Video Rooms for those late night viewings.
-Close to most cosplay gatherings.

Cons:
-Expensive
-No Locks on restrooms

Are there any other Pros/Cons I am missing?

Things in the Universe / Who gots the Flu ! ? ! ?
October 16, 2009, 06:50:26 PM
I got the flu.
Who else has it?
#24
Well it was actually milting, but there was smoke and a burn hole, so I assume there was a lot of heat.

Anyways, somehow my pillow made it all the way to were my lamp was on the side of my bed, which apparently was on even though I turned it off last night, and the window was open just enough for the sun to shine on the pillow. All this added up to my pillow milting from the heat.

(;_;)

That was a nice pillow. It was made out of that Tempur-Pedic stuff. And this gooey liquid from the melting got on everything in the immediate area. A little even got on my hug pillow.

(;_;)

I don't think today is going to be a good day...

Things in the Universe / Graduated High School
June 01, 2009, 10:47:16 AM
Well after buckling down for 6 weeks, I managed to gather up the remaining 40 Credits I needed to Graduate. And in time to graduate with my class too.

So who else is Graduating '09?
