Awesome!! So should should we start planning a time and a day...and who wants to DM? Its a shame that 4th edition doesn't come out 'til June.

I'm down for some DnD, its been a since I've last played so I'm a bit rusty(not to mention my regular group tends to disregard some rules ie spell components, encumbrance etc.) but I got a ton of books(bring a usb drive if you want some ;)) so I'm ready for just about anything just tell me what level to roll.

My group doesnt use spell components, or care about encumbrance ether.

the Campaign setting i was going to run (Expedition to Castle Ravenloft) Its a story more or less tied into Bram Stoker's "Dracula" (in terms of setting, but not plot).

The party of heroes enters Barovia, a Land choked with the essence of undeath and fear. The vast forests that wall the country are veiled by a foul mist, and whispers and laughing can are heard form the fog on a regular basis. Upon investigating this land, the heroes discover a foul plot to murder all of Barovia's citizens and unleash them as an undead horde.
Barovia's castle Ravenloft has been empty for years, for the count of this house died many moons ago.
But a light has recently been seen in the tallest of the castle's tower, and a chilled wind blows from the cliffs and crags from which the looming citadel sits. There, Count Von Strahd awaits.

I'd probably run a QUICK 1-time session, start you all at level 10 and then skip all the sections about exploring the country, forests, ruins, churches, graveyards, crypts, dungeons, catacombs, bandit camps, ghoul raiding bases, or survival-horror like encounters with a villages overrun with zombies (though this  is hilariously fun, imo) Players would start at the drawbridge of the castle, and we'd pretty much "Castlevania" it up until you get to the boss, haha.

like a WoW instance or something.

So we have a few people interested in running stuff, so....I figure either the folks interested in running things can explain a little abit about the setting and a hint of the story line they'd run, and we can all vote, or figure out some other official way to see who shall Run things, and who shall play. Also what night would be best for folks?

You aren't betting on who will win if you take money for entry fees. You are taking money to offset the out of pocket expenses you incur. Whether it be the system rentals, replacing something broken, paying staff or for prizes. It's not gambling.

It's common sense and something that shouldn't even have been brought up.

If you take entry fees, it's legal. Period.

Paying a Tornament entry fee is not gambling. If it was, then MLG would be gambling. You're not really gambling anything. You pay, you play, and you might win, getting you a prize. The entry fee is for more or less to pay for expenses  such as electricity, equipment, and the like, and for the people running the tournament. Simply put, if paying to enter a tournament is gambling, then paying to play a game at Chunky Cheese for tickets is GAMBLING.

the helmet DOES sound like an interesting prize... (the dvd case i heard about)....why not use that..it can store all three halo games as well !!!!!!!!!!

otherwise i got this feeling the winner gets either a game of their choice.......or halo (the original xbox game -_-)!!!! would be better if its a XBox live subscription!!!!

The Helmet is pretty cool, and one of the extra disks that come with it shows Ling Lings Head!!!

If we were going to have a halo3 torny (which i don't believe will happen)

We SHOULD use MLG rules and map settings
There SHOULD be a FFA and a 4v4

Reasons for such conditions are that these game types promote skill

try not to give out a bad prize for a good game bout!..
nearly every halo tournament i went to (convention wise), it was always a crappy 360 prize which they got from gamestop for 5.99! a free game yeah but sometimes its lame and you rather cash it out for a less prize money -_-!...
for once i would like to see a prize worth seeing like a made up HALO GUN! or a spartan helmet XD!....

before you can give me a lame opinion. I just wanna say (SOME good TOURNEYS must deserve a prize!) learn this from VGL, learn this from Fanime, Learn this the hard way after putting so much effort on both cosplaying and video games!)

I'm honestly shocked that you managed to spell Team (Twice! ^^), Taking, and Control correctly. Especially without severely injuring yourself.
