Panels and Workshops / Extremely Hard Take-Home Quiz
April 18, 2023, 10:22:25 PM
WIN A PS5 AT THE EXTREMELY HARD TAKE-HOME ANIME QUIZ!  This is a multiple-choice, open-book, take-home quiz that begins on the Fanime web site three weeks before the convention.  You are encouraged to use any resource at your disposal.  Some of the questions will test your understanding and ability to analyze anime, not just your memory.  Instead, you will need to do research into the real world of such topics as art, geography, history, literature, music and science.  The answers to the questions will provide additional context and meaning to the anime that you already enjoy.

FanimeCon has accepted my Extremely Hard Take-Home Quiz.  This is a fifty question, multiple choice, open book, open everything quiz that you download from the FanimeCon website three weeks before the con.  To do well, you should do most of your research before the convention.  This year, the grand prize is a PS4.

I have submitted a proposal to run Extremely Hard Take-Home Anime Quiz at Fanime in 2015.  This is a fifty question, open book quiz that begins on the website three weeks before the convention.  I ran this event at Fanime in 2012 and 2014.  The prizes are great.  In 2012 the grand prize was a XBOX-360 and it 2014 it was a PS4.

I am currently running a similar event at Sakuracon.  If you want to see what the questions are like, you can find it at the Sakuracon website on the Programming page under Contests.

WIN A PLAYSTATION 4 OR SIMILAR ITEM AT THE EXTREMELY HARD TAKE-HOME ANIME QUIZ!  This is a multiple-choice, open-book, take-home quiz that begins on this site three weeks before the convention.  You can look up anything you want to get the answer.  The questions are so hard that you probably will not know any of the answers from memory.  Instead, you will need to do research into the real world of such topics as art, geography, history, literature, music and science.  Hopefully, this will give you a better appreciation of what goes on in anime and some of the hidden meanings behind the material.

I ran this event at Sakura Con.  You can see examples of the questions under Programming at their web site and clicking on Contests.

General Convention Discussion / Congratulations to Fanime
February 03, 2014, 12:48:21 AM
Congratulations to Fanime.  According to Animecons.com, you had a paid attendance of 23,430 in 2013.  Jumping from eighth place in 2012, that would make you now the fifth largest anime convention in North America in 2013.

Things in the Universe / Appropriate 2012 Theme
October 07, 2012, 01:41:21 AM
First, Fanime picks Sports as the theme for its 2012 convention.

Then, the Oakland As and the San Francisco Giants both win their respective divisions to advance to the Major League Baseball playoffs.

Is that great or what?

This is a fifty-question, multiple-choice, open-book, open-notes, open-everything quiz that will test more than your simple knowledge of anime. You get three weeks to do it. You can consult the internet, museums, libraries or anybody to help you. You can watch the anime clip if you have not seen it and you can look up the answers if you do not know it.

This quiz is available now on the Fanime-Con web site under Programming. Please carefully read and follow the rules.  The quiz will be due at Fanime-Con on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at 4:00 pm, and prizes will be awarded in a panel on the following day. If you have further questions, there will be a panel at noon on Friday, May 25, 2012 to answer them.

You can ask your parents and teachers for help. The questions are a great way to show them that anime is educational. The prizes are great; at Sakura-Con, the grand prize winner took home an XBOX 360. This year's prize will be something similar.
