If you can point out the booth # based on this map, I can tell you who was assigned to it.

This is for a friend, Can there be more options and variety for the anime character keychains next year

Unfortunately, variety will always fluctuate. The consistent vendors who specialize in key chains and gacha type stuff are usually Toys Logic and Anime Jungle. Everyone else is a kinda hit/miss based on whether or not their current inventory is "trending" at the moment... (LOL, ie: SPINNERS). It's not guarateed...One year a vendor will focus heavily on keychains, the next year...not so much.

I'm not sure if they do conventions, but I would love to see Tasty Peach Studios or Sugar Bunny Shop in the dealer's hall! As well as other brands like that selling cute DIFFERENT plush, lanyards, and t-shirts. As much as I love the usual plush, it's nice to see variety in the style and subjects.

Unfortunately, Tasty Peach hasn't returned to our Dealer's Hall since 2015. Have you checked out our Artist Alley? The custom types of merchandise created by independent artists are usually found in there rather than Dealer's...

oh, I would like to point out something, when I was looking at the anime and manga being offered for sale, most of the vendors that were selling them  had either the cases of the anime dvd's cracked or damaged  and some manga was torn or bent. The only booth that didn't have this problem was the vendor that had the security cameras and bag holding.

Unfortunately, that's something out of our control as many of our vendors are literally the modern day "traveling salesman". Many of their products usually end up being damaged either during shipment/transportation, by careless convention union personnel, and/or by con attendees from previous shows.

Both Lisu Works and Puppy Bao returned to Fanime this year....

I want more of these, but may not get much time to look in the dealers hall, so if I know who is selling these and whether thay will be there, that would be amazing!

Sorry! I was busy being in con beast mode that I didn't have time to read the forums....^^;;

Gizmo Forge and Trinket Slot were both in Dealers this year:

If you're looking for older vintage items, Anime Link & Nikaku had some items...No longer at Fanime, but Kimono My House is highly recommended for vintage anime.

As for vendors, I love when I find vendors that sell DVDs of animes and TV shows that are hard to near impossible to find.

Check out http://www.animedepot.com/
Their inventory is pretty massive. Hit them up via email if you can't find a particular title.

5424 Geary Blvd
San Francisco, CA 94121

kimonomyhousetoys.com (older vintage items)
1455 64th St

If any of the owners are around, tell them I said "Hi"...  ;)

Unfortunately, Kimono My House did not return to Fanime this year. However, please check out their online site and store location. They have quite a bit of vintage 90's items.

So I noticed it's basically a custom repaint art contest....Is kit-bashing/custom modifications (sawing off or adding additional limbs/parts) allowed?

If so, I might be interested in entering a W.I.P. (hopefully I'll be done by con time ^^;). My intention is to donate to our Charity Auction; a customized Kidrobot Frank Kozik Labbit modified & repainted as the Nekobus from Totoro. I was thinking about displaying it as part of your gallery (if you need items to display?) for Friday & moving it to the Charity booth on Saturday.

Here's a sample pic of what I'm working on:

Would not call them dishonest since every other dealer sold items at inflated prices.
ex. there was a Megahouse Binbougami figure I really wanted. Cost $91 and almost pulled the trigger and bought it but checked online and could get it for $50.
I bought a music box from that same booth for its suggested retail of $30 so I have no idea how dealers decide what price something should be.

I think I can answer that question since I've worked many WonderCons & SDCC shows as a dealer at my friend's booth for the last 14 years...

The main reason for inflated prices are in fact Supply vs Demand. This applies to 99% of dealers as they are here to make money. This is a fulltime job for them - this is what pays their bills & feeds their families. For the Japanese toy market, it is commonly known to make ONE production run of a product. This means, no matter how popular said toy is, they will not continue to manufacture in mass quantities. (ie: Hasbro's Star Wars 3" action figures are mass produced year after year....) On rare occasions, the Japanese toy market will reproduce models such as Yamato's Macross line (prior to Yamato going bankrupt). However it took years for Yamato to re-release the same models. I remember I bought my 1/60 scale YF-19 for $120 waaaay back then. Now, it's worth approx $250+ unopened, MINT condition box. It was eventually re-released several years later, but the packaging was different and model was re-engineered to improve the transformation from jet/gerwalk/valkrie mode. Just because there was a re-release, it didn't dampen the $250+ cost of the original.

Japanese toys that were released 5 years ago sold for fair market value such as One Piece P.O.P. series 1/2/3/etc... averaged $80-$120 depending on how much the vendor paid for his wholesale prices & import shipping costs. Now, those same figures are climbing to $200+ depending on popularity of character & limited supply.

A UFO catcher plushie base yen price to a vendor could be 650Y, however this does not include the hefty overseas shipping costs incurred for large wholesale orders (btw, cargo freight on a boat is cheaper than air)...For a vendor to make *SOME* profit, they'd have to charge about $15-$20 per plushie after everything is said & done. Keep in mind, the product needs to sell otherwise, the vendor loses money. Breaking even is not an option, otherwise vendor just spent a shit ton of money all for nothing and wasted his time & effort.

Also keep in mind, if the costs seen online is too good to be true.... it usually is. The $50 online tag could also mean it's a bootleg, damaged box, and/or they might charge a lot more for S/H costs too.

eBay = best online appraisal tool

On the subject of magazines:
They cost anywhere from 700 to 2000 yen. This doesn't include shipping costs. Depending on total spent, the vendor has every right to price his magazine page cut outs anywhere from $5-$10. He's not selling EVERY page since there ARE written articles....I'm pretty sure he's not cutting out the 'wordy' pages just to mount & sell....

Side note: I've seen what wholesale prices are for Japanese magazines to local US book shops... Trust me, wholesale discount is pretty shitty!!

The inks should be vibrant and non blurry for the packaging. Look for holographic/foil stickers (not all products have them). Paint on the product should be smooth. Fabric edges should be finished.

FYI - Some holographic/foil stickers have been counterfeited as well. ie: Fake blue Studio Pierrot (they have the Naruto license) stickers are off center and have a less vibrant hue of blue.

Also, I forgot the name of the Japanese company - it's the one that's usually gold and has a bear mascot on the sticker. Those have been counterfeited as well because they hold licenses for Bleach toys. The fake stickers have "solid" dots for eyes on the bear. The real stickers, you can see the bear has actual white of eyes + pupils.

If I can find my "fake" samples, I'll try to have it at the Fanime Dealer's table for everyone to see.

There were quite a lot of vendors selling apparel. Do you remember the size of booth they had? Do you remember the neighboring booths? Yes Anime had 8 booths in the center of the room. There was a 1-booth vendor, JPN Toys was across Yes Anime, on the (3rd) aisle from entrance side of room. He had shirts too... Or could it have been Cute Storm? They were on the 2nd aisle from exit side of room....
