I would like to bring up that Panels 2 was either not expanded to its larger capacity on Saturday or was reset on Saturday night and not expanded Sunday morning, and it had to be expanded during our panel ("Magikarp: A History") on Sunday evening. The noise of expanding the room wasn't so much of an inconvenience for us as panelists, but we're not sure how, if at all, it affected our audience, since the mic and stage audio had to be increased to compensate for the noise of moving the divider. Also we're not sure if everyone who waited in line for the panel actually got in because the room capacity wasn't increased until at least a half an hour into our (2-hour) panel.

Thank you! It's okay that your pictures didn't turn out, thank you for trying! Someone actually got a video of most of it. If/When I do it again, I'm gonna try to get a 1.5 hour timeslot for extra questions and possible one-on-one panel reading teaches.

I will definitely turn those pattern pieces! And I actually have a whole bolt of fabric that I meant to bring, but I forgot to pack it because I had to split my luggage between two cars, and it was confusing and blah, blah. I'll do better at remembering next time.

And thanks again, I'm glad so many people liked it!

I had so much fun, you guys! If anyone has photos of me, please direct me to them. All of mine will be posted on my Facebook and Tumblr, both of which are linked in my signature.

I think the panel went over pretty well guys, but I'd still like feedback if anyone has any! Thank you everyone for coming and for both asking very good questions and helping me provide some addition information that I was not aware of!

As promised, here's my contact info if you have follow-up questions:

If you have photos/video/etc. from the panel, please send them my way so that I can share them on my social media sites as well. Also I will most likely (eventually) make some tutorials on pattern-reading on either my BlogSpot or my Tumblr (and I'll post links to the Facebook, so if you follow there, you can find them too).

Thanks again to everyone who came, I hope I helped you guys out!

Daaaang, I can't make it, I'm hosting a panel at the same time. D:

Sorry I took so long to reply, but YES! I might not go over individual patterns during the panel, but I'll go over it with you after the panel, even if we have to move into the hallway to make room for the next panel. I'm also going to be bringing a whole bunch of patterns with me both to use as examples and to give away!

Depending on whether or not I can stay that late on Money, I'd love to come as Yumi from Code Lyoko!

To be quite honest, I've never used the circles (I think I know what they're for), but I'm basically studying patterns extra hard, so I will know what they mean before the panel and can explain them. Thank you for mentioning darts though! It'll end up being more of a tangent, as it involves things other than the patterns themselves, but I'll be sure to mention it!

Sunday, 4pm to 5pm in Panels 3
Struggling with sewing patterns? Lost under a pile of tan tissue paper? Let me help!

I'll be doing a complete run-down of how to read sewing patterns, including the packaging they come in, how to figure out what pieces you need, how to organize your pattern pieces on your fabric, and how to sew it all together. There should be plenty of time for questions as we go too, and if there's time at the end, I'll even show you how to fit the pattern back into the little envelope it came in!

Weeeeeee're back!

"Join us to learn about everyone's favorite Pokemon: Magikarp! We discuss Magikarp's in-game capabilities, how to utilize it in battle, its most notable anime appearances, and more! If you've seen us before, come by again, we're always adding new info!"

Now onto the usual: What would you like to know about Magikarp? What do you know that you think other people should know too? Have you seen us before? If so, what do you think we should change about the panel? Anything we should add? Anything we should remove? We appreciate any and all feedback!

Depending on the day and how things pan out for me, I MIGHT be able to make it as the WiiFit Trainer! I really want to anyway, the cosplay is already finished, and I've only worn it once. I'm also trying to con my boyfriend into being the male WiiFit Trainer. ;P We'll see!

I would love this! I've done Artist Alleys before, but I always love seeing what other people do. Other than what you've listed, I'd like to see some different table setups and displays, it would work well to just show photos of displays (with the table owner's permission), or to have photos of different ways that you set up your own booth (at other conventions or at home) so that you don't have to spend too much time during the panel setting different things up.

On the same note of displays, you could talk about where to get display things, like those wire cubes, PVC pipes, and where to get signs printed for your booth.

A tutorial on how to make keychains might be a fun idea, but keep in mind your audience size and the layout of the rooms. Unless you'll be doing this in a small workshop room, not everyone will be able to see what you're doing, especially on something small like a keychain.

As far as what to sell and "What should I make?", you could talk about the pros and cons of prints vs. plushies/hats/keychains (printable things vs. things you have to make individually).

So, you should show PIMPNITE on YouTube's video of Magikarp legally sweeping a team of legendary Pokemon  :P

We essentially do a break-down of that video and show step-by-step how to set up that sweep.

If I can make it into this panel this year (it was too crowded last time), I may or may not bring along my gigantic shiny Magikarp pillow. It just came out in Japan on April 27th, is about 3' long, and will be arriving in the mail any day. :D

Awesome! Since the panel is on a Friday this year, I think it'll be slightly less crowded. Can't wait to see your plush, it sounds adorable! Did it come out as part of the shiny Magikarp release in Japan?

Update: We've been approved! "Magikarp: A History" will be hosted on Friday, 5pm in Panels 3. (Click here for the Facebook event.)

I'm pretty intent on crashing this gathering as Clyde from Pac-Man/Wreck-It-Ralph.

I will most likely be there at a Ho-Oh gijinka. :)

We submitted "Magikarp: A History" the day that panel submissions went up. Now all we can do is continue improving the panel and eagerly await a response from Fanime!

Why Magikarp is the master race.

Well that's a given, haha. Any specific points of why Magikarp is master race that you think we should cover?

Maybe the reason behind it's evolution into Gyarados?

We definitely cover this, it's a given, haha.

Majikarp recipe

We'd love to find the original ones, but we've scoured the internet and haven't found anything. Do you know where we can find them?

Hello all! We're bringing "Magikarp" back to Fanime for a third year!

"Magikarp: A History" is actually just a panel about the Pokemon Magikarp. We discuss it's origins, game basics, game strategies, anime appearances, other game appearances, and even more! This year, we're expanding the panel to be two hours long, since we have so much information to share about Magikarp (yeah, we can't believe it either).

So tell us, what would you like us to share about Magikarp?  :)

EDIT: We've been approved! "Magikarp: A History" will be back at Fanime on Friday, May 24th from 5pm to 7pm in Panels 3. (Click here for the Facebook event.)
