Hey people. I have something creative for the fanimecon music video contest to tell you for a long time.

Myself has been wondering if we can have like a TV show intro catagory. Like the only thing we have been doing for parody in our video programing is Trailers at the FMV showings. You know mashing up clips from anime and syncing the trailer audio from the movie trailers. Parody the characters of the movie depending of what anime character's personality and such. And use what anime that is fitting for the type of trailer.

So why not make a TV show intro catagory. Like have some clips from anime which may fit the tone and what the show is about. Like I would use clips from a yuri anime for a Goof troop parody intro. Or make a English USA edited version of an anime for laughs.

That's all I know for my new creative catagory for the FMV contest.

So as my signature says, I've been going to FanimeCon since 1999.  Over the years I've kept all of the previous year's programs.  I'm big on nostalgia, and its fun to flip through now and then and remember previous years.

WELL, those are all gone now thanks to the Camp Fire that ravaged my town of Paradise, CA and burned my apartment and everything inside to the ground.  T___T

If anyone is willing to sell me their good condition old FanimeCon program books, I would really appreciate it.  I just need 1 of each year.  PM me please :)

Register as soon as you can to get a position in the housing window later.  Even if housing for the weekend is all booked up, attempt to book a single day where you want to stay.  Then go on the waitlist for when rooms open up closer to Fanime.  It works.  It's certainly better than doing nothing at this point.

I've always gotten mine before the first price increase, but never soon enough to be able to look at the good hotel accommodations before they're sold out... Having to book a room 3 miles away really puts a damper on the con for me...  :-\

Hey!! I hope you can have a fun Fanime this time!! ^^

I haven't gotten my badge yet, either. I usually get mine sometime in March. But prices have been changing and been going up in the past years... :x

I'm not off to a great start.
2019 will be my third con year, one solo in 2015 and one with my hub who hates crowds/dancing/going 30 mins without smoking so we basically didn't do anything 2018.
This year's plan was to get a room upstairs and buy him a weekend ticket and he can come down for the things he is actually interested in and go hide/play Beat Saber upstairs alone when the crowds are too fierce and I can be down at the convention all weekend. It is currently November 22nd and I've just realized this morning reg has been up for a month and I haven't booked my badge number yet...
So now I'm back to going to the con alone, eyes to the floor, probably sitting by myself in panels for 10 hours a day not asking questions, leaving my cosplay unworn for yet another year because it doesn't look right on me anyway and it's not like anyone cares, probably skipping the concert, the dance, and all the other super fun social things...
Depressing, right? But I'm a realist, and I know me, so while I can be my normal bright self June-April I know that come May I'm gonna be looking at the forums thinking about maybe trying to join in on all the fun everyone else is having, and yet, will say nothing.

So here's what I decided to do: start early as hell, before the darkness of spring time self loathing kicks in. Before January starts a new semester and I get all wrapped up in classes and don't realize it's May until May the 4th. I'm going to get into this damn forum and SAY SOMETHING. And maybe I'll keep saying things and by May I'll feel like I belong enough to actually enjoy this damn con to the fullest

So hi. My gaming/fan names are typically Kira or Khylaa. If I ever release this novel I've been writing for like 5 years maybe the single person who downloads it for free will one day know why. I basically love all JRPGs and still tear up with I hear songs from Angel Beats several years after watching. Apparently time heals all wounds, except those inflicted by anime. <-- Which seems like a perfect first signature on the Fanime forums (dibs)

So ask me a question. Invite me to your Fanime themed groups. Create one of our own! Start a monthly coffee social. Invent time travel so I can swap November me with depressing May me. The sky's the limit, we've got time until May.

Have a great Fanime 2019!

Hello everyone! School's out!

Fanime Cosplay Chess 2019's theme for the performance is school themed, however, even though it's highly encouraged to cosplay from any fandom with a school theme, we are not restricting it!

The performance will be announced as soon as Fanime releases information and as it becomes closer, so bear with us!

Cosplay chess is an immersive, full-scale chess game in which the pieces have come to life and are fighting for their team! It is an exciting new way to enjoy a classic, time-honored game. As we are a performance, sign-ups are required before the convention starts. No need to know anything about chess to participate, just be sure to keep an open mind and be ready to have fun!

There will be raffle tickets for prizes for both chess pieces and chessmasters, which we will announce what they will be!

Chess Pieces
Chess pieces are the bread of our show! They compromise a majority of our members and play as rook, knight, or pawn on the board. Some of them may have speaking parts, however, we will ask first if you are comfortable with it. Characters are paired in the most hilarious of ways for battle!

No auditions are required! Characters are granted on a first come first serve basis, and once we are full we accept reserve characters to fill last minute dropouts. We accept all fandoms and cosplays, however, we ask that they be a published character (NPC characters are ok). All pieces must write a short, 2-4 sentence description of their character to be used when we introduce each piece. Please have in your description the following: The first sentence should be a vague introduction of your character, followed by a second sentence containing your characters name, and what fandom they're from. (see examples below)

"The hero of the video game of death, he's the beater who wears all black! It's Kirito from Sword Art Online!"

Heels are ok so long as they are thick, but stilettos are not allowed as they have the potential to ruin our board.

Chessmasters are the butter of our show! They lead their teams into battle with wit, charm, and stage presence. They have prominent speaking roles and are required to attend at least 2 online rehearsals. We use Discord for all online rehearsals and communication.

To sign up as chessmaster, please click:

There is a mandatory rehearsal on the Friday of Fanime at 8 PM, so please build it into your schedule. This is your time to meet everyone face to face, as well as the chess pieces you will fight so you can create a short, simple fight choreography. If for any reason you cannot attend the meeting, please email us so that we can discuss it. (Previous years, we've had rehearsals at 9 PM, heard everyone's input and decided to change it to 8 PM, to make it easier for everyone)
