Hotel and Facilities / Re: Hotel stay 2019 feedback
June 06, 2019, 12:25:45 PM
Fairfield Inn & Suites San Jose Airport

It was my 4th time staying and still my favorite hotel out of the ones I've stayed in the past.

Free breakfast, free parking, mini fridge and a microwave, free breakfast and free drinks in the lobby.

Only con is the distance from the con, but that's no biggie. Free shuttle ride.

Check in and check out were a breeze. Definitely staying here again!

Hotel and Facilities / Re: hotel room size questions

They are decent sizes room, but in my opinion for staying both hotels years before and to where I'm currently staying (which it's at the Fairfield), they are about the same. Give or take. In my opinion, both rooms are consider small with majority of my roommates are cosplayers.

Hello everyone! This will be my first time staying at a hotel that's a drive away from the convention and was wondering if the event provides shuttle services for the attendees who booked with their hotels? Specifically the Courtyard at the Marriott. Thank you!
All hotels booked through Fanime's Housing will have free shuttle rides provided. They will have more information when it gets closer to the con dates.

Welcome to 2018 version for this thread. More descriptive and more professional looking post. Do you need roommates? Or do you need a room? This is the place to post up your wanted ads.

Hotels:
+ Hilton (adjacent to convention, has mini fridges)
+ Marriott (adjacent to convention, most of the video rooms are at)
+ Hyatt (a block away, close to Civic Center)
+ The Westin San Jose (across from Marriott) (formerly The Sainte Claire Hotel)
+ Fairmont (across the street from Saint Claire, near restaurants like Johnny Rockets and others)
+ Holiday Inn (3 miles from the convention center, on the free shuttle route, free interwebs and free parking)
+ Four Points by Sheraton San Jose Airport (3 miles from the convention center, on the free shuttle route, free interwebs and free parking) (formerly San Jose Airport Hotel, Radisson San Jose Airport)
+ Double Tree (former site of Clockwork Alchemy, 4 miles from the convention center, on the free shuttle route, free interwebs)
+ Fairfield Inn (has free parking, microwave, and mini fridge;a block away from Double Tree)

What you need to know:
+ Please be respectful to your roommates along with everyone else on the same floor.
+ Please do not try to crowd beyond the maximum occupancy of the hotel since it is a fire hazard.
[If you have any other suggestion, please voice it out.]

Roommates Wanted: (only main leader can post it)
+ Introduction: Introduce yourself. Do you have Facebook or Myspace? Feel free to post it up.
+ Hotel Information: where are you staying at and how long you're staying in.
+ Costs: how much for each person, how to pay, etc...
+ Requirements: what are you looking for, your set rules, etc...
+ Contact: how to get in touch. Please keep all your PMs and/or emails until the day they're check-in.

Hotel and Facilities / Re: Hotel stay 2018 feedback

This year will be my third time staying at the Fairfield Inn.

Pros:

+ Free parking
+ Free WiFi
+ Mini fridge and microwave
+ Free breakfast (certain hours)
+ Free coffee/tea
+ Quiet location despite being near two casinos and US 101
+ Staffs are friendly
+ Easy access to US 101

Cons:

+ Distance from con
+ Shuttle (They've been good with the run time until late in the evening and that's when some drivers will let people on for the Doubletree Route. It is actually a block away from Doubletree.)

I stayed at Fairfield because it saves money on parking and we didn't have to worry about losing a spot. Starbucks is across the street along with great Pho place and Chipotle. There is a glass sliding door that leads to outside patio where we can air out hairsprays or any aerosol type from our room. That was a huge plus.

We will stay again if we do not get the Hyatt.

I might be there as Haggar if I don't get my '84 Keith outfit done on time.

How is it too late? My registration date and time is tomorrow. What hotel did you get? Majority of the hotels in Fanime block will have shuttles to the convention center.

That's interesting. I registered 4 days before the deadline and I got Friday the 19th at 10pm.

Registration / Re: Id questions

You would have to email [email protected] directly. Their FAQ states that it has to be valid government-issued photo ID to pick up the badge.

Registration / Re: Adding on Group Registration

So I already pre-registered back when registration first opened, but would like to add a friend into my group registration. Although, I would like to know, would adding another person now affect my hotel registration time?

Also, I might be mistaking it for another con, but are we able to get refunds on registration, so long as it's within a certain number of days after payment?

You would have to email Registration, but FAQ stated of no refunds. If you bought Clockworks badge, it can be used for Fanime also. It wouldn't affect your time since I had two friends added on a few days after the registration opened.

Stay hydrated! It has been warmer each year during Fanime weekend and especially for cosplayers who wears multiple layers. Water + lemon makes the best hydration drink along with sport drinks.

Small snacks. I always carried a small snack in case I get slightly hungry and do not want to miss out panels and such. Saves money until dinner time hits. XD

Stay in a group at night. No matter what, be careful at night. Do not go alone at night.

Much better early announcement than last year's fiasco even if it was 24 notice vs 2 months BEFORE MAY.

Hopefully, they are able to put in separate and space out time blocks for the hotel than everyone on the same time to ease the site traffic.

Voice Actors:

I honestly don't care; we just need some Japanese seiyuus, Fanime. This is one guest department Fanime lacks in.

Masaya Matsukaze and Daisuke Sakaguchi were the Guest of Honors for this year's Fanime and the year before was Ai Nonaka. I don't mind seeing them again for next year. So not sure why Fanime would be lacking in this department? They have done well and did their best to bring in more seiyuus. Here's the list for a good memory jog of their past guests they've done well in getting. On their Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FanimeCon.

Wow. There are some really big names on some of these lists. Mashiro Ayano is still new, but she has done other songs for animes like Fate/Stay and D.Gray Man Hallow. I don't mind seeing Granrodeo, but I read that Taniyama Kishio is afraid of flying though. ^^;;

Legit question though-- Will fans be willing to pay extra admission on top of your Fanime badge to see these people? I vaguely remember there was a thread before about not wanting Fanime to ever charge extra for events but I don't think some of these artists would be possible to get unless Fanime charged extra for tickets to see them.

For me, I don't mind paying extra to see any artists to come. If fans who attended AX and bought tickets on top of their badge for AniMatsuri concert, then we can too. It would be a cool thought to see the concert perform at SAP center that's not too far from the convention center(~about 1.0 mi).

Hotel and Facilities / Re: Review Your Hotel 2016!
September 18, 2016, 11:09:55 PM
Fairfield Suite and Inn SJ Airport

PROS:
1. Room was spacious with balcony.
2. Mini-fridge
3. Quiet rooms. Best sleep ever. It was quiet despite being near the freeway and casino
4. Staffs were great and free breakfast!
5. Starbucks in walking distant.
6. Free parking!

CONS:
1. Shuttle. I would have to take the Doubletree route to get back if I missed it plus it takes the longest to wait. Luckily, it was only a block away.

I don't mind staying here again. It was so quick to hop on the freeway too.

Mashiro Ayano. I would love to see her perform for MusicFest too. She sang the Ending theme songs for Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, Gunslinger Stratos: The Animation, and D.Gray-man Hallow (which that's how I love her).  ;D

I enjoyed when there isn't much on Thursday. I drive a lot since I have to pick up my friends from different cities a day before and we all drive up together on Thursday so definitely, I don't mind if there is not much going on. Good time to explore around SJ and even stocking up at Mitsuwa and Clover Bakery.
