I would need to talk to my Boss's about it but If they say ok, I could Draw it all out on like 2' by 2' cardboard with squares for each booth and numbers saying what booth is what. But that would take time plus as weird as it mite sound every year we just dont have any cardboard to make signs. Its funny we always say we need a big EXIT ONLY sign at the exit. but getting a List of dealers and where in the Hall, I can say I Know there is no way it can be put in the guide without it being really out of date or have dealers in the wrong areas. The Booth List is always Changing even On Friday when it starts. Its a good thought, but then if you know where the booths you wanted to see where, then you would miss the other booths that you would not see the first time. Lets just keep it like a scavenger hunt, you may find your booth right away or find a booth that you where not looking for, and discover its better for what you need.

General Convention Discussion / Re: Weapons Policy

Not to mention one time when my younger sister was exiting the dealer's room a guy stopped her and scolded her for her paper parasol umbrella that she had just purchased. Apparently he though that there was a sword hidden in it. I found it odd that the person didn't know what was in the dealer's room. It was a plain paper parasol but he inspected it, demanded it get checked, and said something else and handed it back to her looking at my sister suspiciously.)

I am sorry for that happing to you in the dealers hall at the exit. I say that because I am Part of Dealers staff and such. needless weapon checks serve no purpose. I believe I know a bit about the exit weapons checks. I am sad to say that allot of the times staff has its hands full and we really have a need for Vol's that can help out with things like Door duty and badge checks, but unfortunately we discovered that some one sold a weapon to a under age Fan, so a vol and a staffer where put to check the exit and check age of a weapon holder. "was not a fun job to card Fans".... all this to find a kid with a weapon just so we can ask where did you buy it... " Amazing how many "I forgot" answers we got." So I bet when the Vol was alone at some point He or she may have gotten a little power happy and just went to far. :(  again On part of the Dealers room Im sorry.

Before you get excited for all the sign haters.  I have a huge concern over this.

It's pretty common-sense that that's... a costume. I doubt any staffer would ask you to throw your costume away, unless they're complete idiots. Unless somewhere on the sign says "Hug me, I'm the Brain-Age guy!" it shouldn't be a problem.
Yes I think you are right Common sense is what needs to be used. But just like the weapons policy, any weapon like item needs to be tagged. even if its common sense that it is in no way a danger to anyone. Im just trying to look at this from a legal stand point. a set policy must be set just as we have a clear policy on weapons, If we only said that if you see a weapon and your common sense says it is ok and not a threat, then you have a rule based on someone making a judgment call based on there ideas. I am all for No signs but a clear policy needs to be made. You eather have Zero signs being held by Fans or Fans that are allowed to have a sign that has been approved, Or Having a Fan with a cosply sign allways being asked by some staffer who may not know its a cosply sign to remove it then having to expline it is a cosply sign, over and over again. But what do you do with a Cosplayer that has a sign that has nothing to do with the anime? you end up with a staffer or SOS member saying that you can have it, because the cosplayer tells them its part of the Cosplay. but then the same Cosplayer with the same sign gets stopped down the hall by a staffer that knows the anime that he/she is cosplaying and says that sign is not part of the show so you need to throw it away.  I just like to see Clear policy on a subject. I don't believe leaving the judgment call to random staff'ers or such, will work to well because it leaves alot of personnel common sense judgment calls. Whats common sense to me Is not necessary Common sense to some one else. Its sad that in this world we live in now, that we have to break down a policy to much to dumb proof it.

Last year, I remember there were PSAs about remembering to wash and whatnot over the loudspeaker. Maybe the occasional "Be careful with your stuff, nothing ruins a trip to the dealer room like a missing wallet!" or "If you've found something that may be important to someone else, please bring it to the Lost and Found or contact a Rover!" type messages, just to keep it on the general public radar then?
Your right MoonBlossom I did Say over the PA " and a quick reminder to all fanime go'ers, Remember to take showers during the con and that soap is your friend." Some times I did add " and remember if you find Items that you know are not yours, then do the right thing and Bring it to the Lost and found, that would be Con Ops or if your unsure to where that is then bring it right here to the fanime booth. Normally the Fanime booth in the Dealers room is not the Lost and found, but We have found that When a Item is Lost and brought to Us we can see if Its an item that Need to be returned to its owner fast, or can wait in con Ops, for you to find it. Last year We returned two digi cams, 3 cell phones, credit cards and wallets. Anyone who comes to claim a item Must ID the Item per scratch and such. we will not give out a item to someone it dose not belong to. Its fun and the right thing to do. Like last year we where brought a California ID, and so we made a PA that the person on the card, say "BOB" please come to the Fanime booth right now. so BOB shows up and we ask to see his ID for his gift  ;D so he Looks for it and discovers he lost it and he wins it back. Even BOB got a kick from it, walked away with a smile.
The Only Down Side to Helping the Fan is the sometime we get alot of Lost items turned in and we know that when someone has lost a item they dont know its gone. so making a PA that we have your say " Digi Cam" at the fanime booth, the person is great full for someone turning it in. but Unfortunately some Dealers Do NOT like to hear PA's like that. so we try to tone down PA's to one a hour. I can see their  point but I think helping the Fan get his lost item back is worth hearing a PA here and there. but thats just me. So this year 08 I will try and cut down on PA's unless It is needed.

wow old post then.. I should have seen that. oh well hope you get some hook up this year.

ok I bet by the time the con starts, every thing you need to know about the rule should be worked out.  From me thinking about it for one min. I think that Anyone with a sign will be told to remove it, unless it is part of a Cosply. If the sign holder clams the sign is, then the staffer/SOS member says "ok then if you wish to have the sign you and me can walk to Con Ops and they will check out your sign and make a judgment call on it." then If it is a cosply sign your sign will get a Tag Just like for a weapon. then you would have your sign, and if anyone stops you for it you can show them the tag saying its ok.  anyone else think this is fair? This would get rid of useless signs and keep signs that cosply. or any other signs like say a sign being held by a maid for the Maid cafe, Advertising the cafe. She can keep her sign because she would have her tag and then you dont get people crying that others have signs why not me. It would be a clear rule saying that sign was checked out. well I take that back you will always have people crying about something but if they do you can simply say Con Ops approved that sign. If you want a sign have Con ops Check it to see if its allowed.  Well thats my take on it. Please If anyone feels this is a good idea then by all means Bring it to a Staff meting and sagest it.

the staff room rate Is what should be the room cost for all the nights then divide that buy the number of staffer staying in that room. so if your room bill is 300$ then 300÷people say there are 4= 75$ per person. so each person will pay 75 to the one who Paid for the room with a Credit card. Or if your Room mate who payed he may request a bit more for his card use. but that would be Unethical like 5$ more. that would be something you would have to deal with him/her about. I don't know if Fanime housing has any rules dealing with this. Its just some thing where you need to do the math yourself and if you find some problem then ask about it and find out why. It all comes down to The Room Cost is X amount of money and it should be divided between the X amount of room mates.

Ideas and Suggestions / Anime Price is Right?
April 06, 2007, 12:27:07 PM
looks fun. But that is alot of work, Right now we get Donations from dealers for the charity auction. so im not sure they would want to give even more for a game show. they are trying to make a profit.
A full staff team just for a game show like that i think would be needed. from the video, that game was on the same level as Der Cosplay.  I don't mean to sound like I dont want it, but I would love to see this at Fanime, I believe if you really want to see this at fanime then Someone needs to goto a staff meeting and Spearhead this event for 08. I believe its a little late to put this together for 07. Any one want to ask the Heads ARG's about this. As long as your not saying yes I want to see this and then leave all the work for someone else then you may have a chance. Show them you want to work for this and you may find your self heading it for 08.

General Anime Chat / Slow

Ok I like it but It need to be more then 26eps or It will be a rushed anime to finish it by then. there are alot of facters that can make this anime go past 26eps but they need to find the story line and run with it, without the fillers.

*ok the New weapons being made is a great story line, Durgs marketing is good. but I vote the Princess where every one trys to kill the others is better. Need a anime of just her and her family. If it pass's 26eps then PS helping her or fixing her family would be a good chapter. the other chapters could be the other 9 units. in all upto ep18 we have seen 3 diff ones? correct me if im wrong.
