He made some topic about a Zelda gathering last month.  I made a comment in the topic but of course, he had nothing to say.

HEY! LISTEN!!
Ok for those who don't know this or are too young to remember, I use to host The Legend of Zelda Gatherings back in 2006 - 2008 then I drop off the face of the Earth as Link from 2008 had a stand in for me during that time, then many other host have come in and hosted. Well it is the return of Link, well this Link, as the Host of this gathering. I saw how big this gathering was during 2012 and I am proud of my follow Legend of Zelda cosplayers to come together like that. So with that said, grab you Master Sword and the rest of your weapons for The Legend of Zelda gathering 2013. Tell me the name of the character you will be and which Legend of Zelda series you are from.
Day: Sunday May 26th (because of the large number of cosplayers last time)
Location: TBA
Time: TBA
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time/ Major's Mask
AnimefanJJ - Link, Goron Tunic style
Ukiyo-E Heroes version "The Hero Rests"
rj_sosongco - Link

If you have time to do this, you have time to send that guy his stuff.  What is wrong with you?

Ideas and Suggestions / Re: Badge rule
August 29, 2012, 06:09:45 PM
I think just spreading awareness of this sort of scam attempt, as well as re-enforcement of having your current badge "clearly visible" and checked at the door will eliminate most of this issue.

Arrrrg, I wish I had known about this sooner :(

Without the internet, I would look at a lot less porn.  Its just not something I can see myself paying for!

Gaming / Re: What MMORPG are you playing?

It sounds more like your own personal tastes in games changed (you want action combat systems), rather than a drastic change being made within WOW itself to turn you away from it.

And just wondering, I've heard that exact phrase about how "WoW was good till the merge". What is that suppose to mean for the gameplay?
Truthfully, it means absolutely nothing.  People love to speculate and read into things like buy-outs and mergers, and cite them as the reason why x, y, and z are now crappy.  You know the mantra, corporations, baaaaad, baaaaaad, (say it like a sheep!)  But these claims are generally unfounded.  Things at that level rarely, if ever, trickle down to a level where the consumer is impacted.  Barrens chat is still full of idiots, PUGs are still do at your own risk, and old content becomes obsolete due to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_creep  This is the nature of the genre.

I bet he doesn't even have the shirt.  Probably never started it.  I can see no other possible scenario beyond his complete neglect of what you comissioned him to do as a reason for a delay this long.

Wow, how hard is it to mail a damn shirt?  You provided everything he needed and he still can't pull it off.

those sound like good dos and donts. however i do have a few questions myself

which company or gameplace runs the tournaments? i used to play professional video games at one point in my life. so i played alot of mlg and hype rules.

what kind of arcade cabs are there? i.e para para paradise, initial d, max tune, ddr

what kind of food is located within at least a 3 block radius?

is there a jack in the crack aka jack in the box?

how many gallons of water is needed?

are the night dances any good?

has the sea banana ever attended aka seananners

and what are the rules and regulations on big giant weapons?

They do have Parapara, ddr, beatmania, guitar freaks, the current SNK or Capcom fighter usually, and some older games.  I *think* Initial D too.

There is a Jack In the Box, Mc Donald's and  Subway for known chains.  But there are many other independant eateries, pizza places, burger places, taco places, misc. asian food, all of that is near the con and easy to walk to.

I don't drink water at all, so I couldn't tell you how many GALLONS to bring... that seems like a lot!

I only went to the dances 06-08.  I liked them better in 06.  Seems like as the years go by, somehow more riffraff show up for the dances that I never see at any other point in the con, like thats all they came for that day?  I don't like to wait in the narrow sweaty hallway to get in.  I don't know, maybe I'm just getting old.

No, my friend was the much older gentleman who came up with the "Horse!" chant. Everything he says is extremely clever.
I've had my share of stupid people thinking they are funny, but I see the "taking it too seriously" crowd much more annoying.

I beg your pardon sir, but I'm the person who came up with the Horse chant.

It came about because of one year they were showing some hentai based upon Maids and at one point, it looked like there was going to be beastiality involving a dog, but it was cut out (or didn't happen, don't know which). Then they started showing a horse drawn carriage and I started screaming "HORSE!" whenever it came on screen.

And thus, a legend was born.

I was also the guy who sang "I fell into a burning ring of fire" during one particularly bad hentai.

Haha, I remember this from a few years ago!  I've skipped out on hentai night the last couple fanime cons.

I keep seeing bathroom doors not locking coming up as a "con" for the hotels.  What is the issue here?  If you can trust someone enough to sleep in the same room with you, wouldn't it be reasonable to trust they aren't going to surprise you in the bathroom while you're using it?  If that isn't the case, you may want to re-evaluate the type of people you associate with.

Quote from: Junon on June 01, 2012, 01:24:18 PMI think its a tired, boring and unoriginal idea. It's an anime convention, I would expect anime themes, not lowering the bar to satisfy a pop-culture fashion statement.
=(
I don't believe that we're lowering the bar - We pick our themes to be fun while capturing the spirit of FanimeCon.

What is the spirit of FanimeCon?

I don't know if there's any fun to be found in grim and stoic at an anime convention, but hey, you guys run the show. I just pay to stand in line for 6 hours. Lol.

Everyone has their own tastes, personally I like this one, but there is always fun to be found. I mean. Certain panels run every year and they sometimes have nothing to do with the theme, neither do the GoH, neither does the AA, neither does the Dealers Hall, and neither do a lot of things. In eight years of attendance here I think I have rarely ever gone out of my way to match a theme.

I am curious though because I want to know what you think a good anime theme would be in your opinion?

Just off the top of my head, I'd say a throwback to 80's style anime (all genres). I think it would be interesting to see today's younger anime fans work with this kind of official theme. Not only would this be closer to what I believe Fanime has been about (at least intended to start with), but may serve as an educational experience for the new age anime fans. It could also be a bridge for both old and young anime fans to share a common theme together--something they can all get into, rather than the alternative which I believe would be limited to a small niche.

I could agree with that being a pretty awesome theme! It would always be nice to have a little bit of a throwback to some older anime from my childhood. They do have the old style anime video room which I love and it would be nice if one year we could have just a big trip down memory lane. I think it would be a lot of fun. I would kind of like a "mech" year sometime simply because those are my favorite types of anime and manga.

Just to chime real quick in, I am actually really interested in making some original cosplays this year based on the theme.

I think there is a fair bit of interest overall in this theme and I really do think that with a lot of direction some amazing events can be planned for this year! I have hope!

I do think a return to some old school anime or focus on a specific genre, or etc, would be totally amazing too. Just my thought!

What I'd personally like is a theme based on re-visualizing classic anime. It would be interesting to see a contemporary look at cosplays based on older anime updated by the fans and recognized as such. But no, I'm just gonna get Nightwish and The Crow next year. LOL. :p

I find it interesting that the examples you use in your argument against a gothic fairytale theme are not gothic fairytale themed.  So your assumption is that people will be just as confused on what that means as you are?  You name a powermetal band (not gothic in the least) and a action movie from the 90's.  I think people have already cited plenty of relevent sources on how it relates to anime, and it certainly fits an anime con as much as "sports" or "steam punk".

I posted this in the wrong place last time.

Aldious - http://aldious.jp/    All female heavy metal band  ( <3 Aruto!)

D - http://www.d-gcr.com/    VK band, they were amazing at PMX and I'd love to see them again.

Onmyouza - http://www.onmyo-za.net/index.html  Metal Band with a traditional Japanese theme

From Wikipedia:

"Their songs mainly deal with Japanese folklore, such as the oni, yōkai, and the dragons. However, some songs have more concrete themes and inspirations. For example, Onmyo-za have composed twelve songs related to "Ninpocho", or "tales of ninja magic". These songs are a tribute to author Futaro Yamada and his ōchō series. The band's hit song, "Koga Ninpocho", was written for the Studio Gonzo TV animated series Basilisk, which was based on Yamada's novel, The Kouga Ninja Scrolls."

The raves had the worst BO if you ask me. Along with a shower, deodorant can work wonders.
I stopped going to them in '08 for this very reason.
#156
BO was up this year for sure, I wonder what the deal is?  And it isn't always from the likely suspects.  An otherwise clean looking person walked past me in the dealer's room, and he had the most nausiating, toxic, musty man-reek I've had the misfortune of being down-wind from.

Its not enough to shower daily, folks. When you dry off make sure you're putting on something clean, and not underwear on their 4th run.

* Igaguri Chiba was a disappointing guest; nobody at his panel seemed to know anything about him, and his performance lacked the punch of a real headliner. It was more of a gag than a real concert.
This remark indicates to me that the one unfamiliar with Igaguri Chiba is you, and not those who attended his panel.  Myself and others around me knew exactly who he was, and asked relevant questions.  I was at both panels.

I guess I fall somewhere between photographer and creeper with a camera, haha :D

I don't take many pictures, but if I do its either because its one of my favorite characters, the cosplay is particularly funny/clever/creative, or the cosplay is just amazing quality.  Usually I won't stop a person, especially if they're obviously in a hurry. Generally I look for people specifically standing around and posing for pictures, and I'll just join in on someone else's photo-opp.  However if this isn't happening and I see something that falls into my photo-worthy catagories, I politely ask, and accept whatever answer they give.

I'm really surprised someone would be rude like that, but I guess I shouldn't be.  There are rotten apples in every barrel.  Like really, whats the big deal if you don't get the picture you were after?  Chances are 10 other people did, and will be posting them online post-con anyway! :D

Rumiko Takahashi.  Yes, I realize it is not going to happen, and one wonder's if the wealthiest woman in Japan could even be afforded, but think of just how many people from all over the country/world would make the journey to Fanime Con to see her.  It could be a great investment.
