Hey y'all, I'm going to be cosplaying Fumikage Tokoyami for Saturday morning and the majority of Sunday and, as in the head I have for him I have very limited vision, I need a handler. I should have one for Saturday alread but Sunday I am looking for one. Basically that day my schedule would be the Fanime Chess panel, a bit of down time for going around the con and stuff, and then potentially the Masquerade if another panel I'm supposed to be in doesn't conflict. Either way it would be from before Cosplay Chess meeting at my hotel and then making sure I can maneuver around the area alright until I go back to my hotel to change for the latter panel. Let me know if you are interested, I am also willing to be lenient with what you want to do that day as I am the one asking you to volunteer your convention time to help out as long as I am able to get to my event(s) on time. Thanks in advance, I look forward to hearing from anyone willing to help out as a handler!

I'm fairly certain I've seen listings for Marvel gatherings at Fanime before but I wanna check if there is an annual one that happens at Famine because I am hoping to have a certain character's cosplay (that may or may not talk to fish and squirrels) ready by next year and really want to hang out with that crowd that might know who he is.

So for a few years I have branded myself as TrashdomCosplay because I had originally planned to be making a huge cosplay group to brand as this. However, as years go by I'm still the only person in this "group" and am considering rebranding myself after this upcoming Fanime. I'm considering three different names, with a heavy lean towards one than the others, but I thought I would make it a poll. I doubt anyone will participate, but if you do, it's here.
The reasoning behind my two name ideas:
TomasCosplay: my middle name is Tomas and I'm rather fond of it. When signing emails for things that don't require me using a real last name, I use it in place of my last name. I figure it might be a good way to keep the TC in my cosplay name as well as bring some personal identity.
Transplays: I'm trans and very open about it. It's kinda a play on cosplay but with trans.
LuciferianCosplay: I'm a LaVeyan Satanist, which is one reason for this name, but there's also the fact that I jokingly call myself Satan on a daily basis and the fact that if there's a protester telling us we're going to hell I can be like "awesome, that's my kingdom" and have it coorelate with my cosplay identity.

Panel Description:
Campe Diem! Come join Camp Campbell in a round of camp games! Ask your favorite campers questions! Here at Camp Campbell, anything is possible!
This is a two hour panel, the first half dedicated to camp games and the second to a Q&A section. There will be swearing, so maybe consider not signing your kids up for this summer camp. Recording and photography is allowed, and we will have a photo session outside the convention center after the panel ends! We are not in any way associated with Rooster Teeth.
This panel will be on a Saturday (time TBD), so please schedule your cosplay around that. To apply to be a character in the panel, please send me an email or message with your name, the character you're applying for, a picture either of you in your cosplay or of your cosplay progress, and the questions below answered. I would prefer you be at least 13 if you apply just because of the content of the panel. Please be comfortable swearing if you apply, unless your character is one of the few that doesn't actually swear.
1. Who are you?
2. (If you are a Campbell camper) What are you in Campbell for? (If you are a scout) What is your favorite part of scouting?
3. What kind of things do you like to do?
4. What would you say your best quality is?
5. If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?
6. What is your favorite insult to call someone?
Your application should be either PMed to me or emailed to [email protected]. Characters that we have and that are needed are listed below. If you want to do a character that's not listed, feel free to try for it still!. I look forward to seeing your applications!

Things in the Universe / Opinions on Cosplay Melee
April 27, 2017, 06:03:48 PM
So we all know the disaster that was Heroes of Cosplay. After that, most of us were hesitant to ask for another show about cosplayers. However, currently Cosplay Melee on SyFi is airing its first season and honestly I'm really enjoying it. I'm learning new tricks in costume making than before and getting my own ideas on certain costumes as well! However I was wondering what everyone else has been thinking?
For those that haven't seen it it's basically a chopped style competition show with four new cosplayers every time. They have 8 hours to build an accessory for a character they create within the guidelines given corresponding to their theme (so far themes have ranged from Anime to Space Operas to even Game of Thrones), get judged, one eliminated and one challenge winner chosen. They are given one more restriction before they have two days to finish before they walk the runway for the judges and an ultimate winner is chosen.
And the thing is, they do have a lot of great competitors, a range of diversity, range of skill, etc. They all interact with each other how any other cosplayer you'd see at fanime or any other con would. They're not traveling competitors nor do they get jelous and b*tchy with each other. They give each other tips and tricks and all are great sports when they win and loose.
However, don't take my word for it, go watch it yourself. I really do wanna know what everyone else thinks about this show.

Hey, I don't know if anyone else has planned theirs yet, but I was wondering what everyone's Fanime 2017 Cosplay Lineups are gonna be. I have a fair list but need to figure out dates of certain events and panels to confirm it all so I'm waiting for that.
Lineup:
For sure I am doing Hiram McDaniels from Welcome to Night Vale, The Box Ghost from Danny Phantom, and Simon Petrikov from Adventure Time. The rest that I'm debating for my extra day are below.
-Caliborn (Only if another cosplay doesn't conflict on Sunday)
-Steven Universe (Only if I'm planning Caliborn but it ends up being too hot to paint my entire body green)
-Dave Strider (or) John Egbert (Possible only if I end up doing this one CMV thing)

Anyways feel free to post your lineup below if you'd like. Only about 4 or 5 months til Fanime (Depending on how you look at it)! Happy New Year!

Just a "little thing" I decided to write and share with you all. Happy holidays!

Twas the night before Christmas and in areas near San Jose
Many nerds were stirring awaiting the next day
Most of them stay lonely in front of a screen
Perhaps binge watching Harry Potter or even Stranger Things
Some stay with their families while shying away
Trying to tolerate their bigotry towards race, gender, or sexuality
Others are happy together with friends
Quoting their fandoms and crying about the series' ends
Many groups of teens wander throughout the mall
Greeting Santa in cosplay and at Hot Topic spend-alls
But no matter where these nerds are
Whether in heat cold or snow
They all celebrate with holiday cheer and hope they don't grow old
For they know that Christmas is "only for kids"
Still we laugh maniacally as we open our gifts
Soon we hear a faint roar from an unknown somewhere
We search in our houses though nothing seems to be there
Then we hear a laugh bellowing through the wind
And we hear a roll call that is soon to begin
"On Doctor, on Cas, on Harry and Ron
"On Hussie and Ciel, on Sherlock and Watson
"Gather, go gather, your fans and unite
"Give them their merch and then run out of sight
"Go on Hiatus, make the fans all cry
"But we all will come back, because no fandom can die
(Except for Merlin, still a shame)
"Let the fans go rejoice in the feels that they feel
"Let us comfort and hold them when noone else will
"The self harmers and bullied, anyone LGBT
"Those hated for race, gender, give them equality
"And everyone will cheer laugh and cry as they go read and watch us
"Let them celebrate as they sing and hum the theme song chorus"
The nerds looked out their windows and smiled big grins
As they realized it was Tumblr letting us in
The nerds then took comfort in the shows that they adore
Making any hardships on Christmas eve not as bad anymore
And as Tumblr flew off and out of sight
They called "Merry Christmas, you nerds:
"Let us have a good night."

Hi guys!
So, this year I am planning to go to as many meetups and panels as I can since 2015 (my first year) I completely missed out and last year I wasn't able to attend. I just wanna know if there's typically set dates for certain panels and/or if there's actually is a meetup for specific cosplays I do. Here is my list of cosplays I am considering for Fanime.
-Steven Universe (What date is the SU meetup normally?)
-WALL-E (Is there a set date for the Disney meetup(s))
-Hiram McDaniels (Is there a Welcome to Night Vale meetup? If so, when?)
-Caliborn (I know Homestuck is always Sunday, which is a huge conflicting pattern if there's another group on Sundays)
-Crona (Soul Eater?)
-Box Ghost (Is there a Classic Nickelodeon meetup or a Danny Phantom one or something related to ghosts? If I need to I will host a ghost meetup because I want to do this at a Meetup for the hilarity)
-Ticci Toby (Is there a CreepyPasta meetup?)

Let me know if you know anything about any of these and dates for them. Thanks!

First, before I say anything else, I don't know exactly where to put this topic since it is something out of the ordinary, so if it gets moved somewhere I will be fine with that.
Now with that said, on with business. I occasionally write fandom musicals just for fun but never really expect to perform them. However, I have been writing a Five Night's at Freddy's Musical. (Yes, I know, FNAF is already overdone everywhere, but hear me out.) I have been getting pretty far in planning and stuff for it and think it would be one that would be manageable performing. Really, because the animatronics may have speaking or possibly singing parts, they wouldn't be able to have giant furry suits so mostly the cast would have simpler cosplays and costumes for it. It most likely will not be ready this upcoming Fanime, but if I'm lucky I could possibly get script and music done a few months before the next one in 2018 and be able to have a small cast ready and performing and possibly be able to see it performed. However, if I wanted to do this and go through all the effort to get it organized with Fanime staff and everything like that, I need to know one thing...
Who would actually be willing to go see this? Who would be willing to act and sing in this? Is this something anyone is going to be looking forward to in two years?
My reason for asking this is because FNAF is already becoming overrated and somewhat hated, but I know there will be people out there still wanting to see this. But will there be enough? Will I be able to get the cast I need? Will all the effort I put into trying to produce the musical at Fanime worth it? I can't see into the future, so I need your guy's opinions. If you want to see this, feel free to reply to this topic. Feel free to message me. Heck, if you want to help act in it or possibly help me write a script, just let me know! Any and all help and encouragement is greatly appreciated. For now though, I'm going to continue writing this for fun until I know this is something that will be enjoyed greatly.

Hey, is anyone planning on going to Kin-Yoobi Con this year? It's a smaller con in Newark (near Fremont, about thirty minutes away from San Jose) but because it's smaller you get to see almost all the cosplays and they have lots of events to enjoy! Plus, they have free food! Who doesn't like free food? If you've got August 7th free to come over to a small con in a small town, I hope to see you there! I will be in either my Caliborn (Homestuck), Crona (Soul Eater), or Steven (Steven Universe) cosplay! (Oh also, they have cosplay and karaoke contests!) Just go find the website if you're interested. Its $12 pre reg and if I remember right $15 at the door.

Just a quick question: I'm trying to add some pictures into my current cosplays list (right below this) and can't figure out how to attach them. Also I don't know how to attatch them to one of these posts either. Help?

Hiram McDaniels is a Literal Five Headed Dragon!
...and for a while I have been planning out a cosplay for him. Now, I know what attire I will wear, I know what I want the heads to do...
Question is, how do I make 5 dragon mascot head with preferably moving mouths and each their own expression?
I have found some good mascot head tutorials, and most of them are at my level of cosplay expertise (which is saying a lot since I'm only decent with making costumes themselves but great with props, which this falls under fairly well) and I can make quickly seeing as how I am quick with prop designing and construction. The only thing I am really worried about: If I make 5 large mascot heads all approx. the same size, how will I put them all their heads together (unintentional pun), how will I be able to make it look as if the heads are coming out of the suit naturally, and most importantly, how do I make them strong enough to not fall everywhere but light enough to carry basically on my head, neck, and shoulders?
I should note that I am 5'1", and when it comes to my strength, well... https://youtu.be/c2CNsQpp-38
Okay, you caught me, I was overexagerating there. But still, if the heads altogether are moderately lightweight and I were to practice walking around with them on beforehand (I'll figure out the door situateon later) I'm sure I will be able to handle it.
But back to the aforementioned topic, I do need tips, advice, or ideas on how to make this. So whether you make mascot heads, are good at props, make fur suits or are just pretty damn creative, any help whatsoever is highly appreciated. I look forward to seeing different responses. Thanks in advance for any and all help given.
Also, if you do not have the slightest clue of who Hiram McDaniels is, I'm adding a reply to this with pictures of my headcanon for him and also some brave and clever enough to come up with their own cosplay so you can get some kind of gist. Thanks!
