I believe in previous years, people were able to make an early pre-reg for the next year on the days of the con? I remember seeing a way cheaper price around this time for the following years' con, then the price goes up until November or December (somewhere around that time), then the price goes up again until March or so. Can anyone help me with this? I want to pre-register for next year's con and if possible, the Artist Alley as well.
Thanks!
If it happens, it'll be on Monday.
I know that the pre-registration was available during the con today, but does anyone know when we could pre-register online?
Soon? :'D
It was $40 today for all the days of 2010. And yes, I pre-registered already.
Lol, $10 a day.

Is that price going to be the same for when it gets online? :[

My best guess would be sometime later this year, like September or so.

Nope. As in previous years, it will be a little higher when it goes online.

Ugh. Nooo. Dammittttttt. xD
Oh well, sucks for me.
Thanks though :P
Usually it's only $5 more when they put it online, so it's not that bad

Oh, awesome!
Hopefully I won't forget when that time comes around xD
It won't be up until at least July/August...If I remember correctly. :) I remember the first was $5 more than at-con pre-reg. Last year's at-con pre-reg for 2009 was $35, and it was $40 when it went online.
Expect the same this year, unless we've been [once again] hit by inflation and economic crisis stuff...
Keep your eyes glued to fanime.com!
xD
Thanks everyone! I wasn't able to pre-reg at the con so I'm looking forward to pre-reg online as soon as it's available. I'm not missing out this time :D
In the future I think providing hours in the pocket guide (Which was VERY helpful by the way) which Con Pre-Reg is open for next year would be great. I was told they'd be open till 2PM, went down at 1:14, and they were already shut up.

Agreed. The pocket guide was awesome, and adding the reg info would be nice. I've never regged at the con, but I'd heard that it was sometimes in the dealer's room... I didn't see anything. Where was it?
Doh, I knew I forgot to do something. :(

Our hours for pre-reg for next year is always tentative... originally we wanted to open it at 9am but we opened it at 8-ish am. Reg was supposed to actually close at 12pm... but we had a lot of people trying to register and Kalen is too nice, haha.

It is never in the dealer's room... there might be announcements made in artists/or dealer's room, but pre-reg is always somewhere in the registration area, either at pre-reg or somewhere near at-con reg payment booths.
It would be cool to be able to pre-reg like on Sunday as well, or online during or shortly after the Con. Had a great time this year as with previous years.
Good job all!!!
thanks,
I think the reason why it's so cheap is because of it's exclusivity to at-Fanime at a certain time. A lot of people miss it and there's not much we can do about it because it's so tentative...
And I think putting it on Sunday would wear out and hella confuse people who wait in different lines. Heck, 2 lines are confusing enough, surprisingly. o.0
Coming to this year was actually a last-minute decision for me; not anymore. Soon as online reg comes up, I'll be all up on that.

That is definitely good to hear. (:
I got there at about 10am or so . The line moved extremely slow. When it was my turn it went through really quick. I think the credit cards seem to slow it down and other mishaps.

A lot of people were using credit... and plus, we only had two booths open at the time. We will most definitely look into using more than 2 booths open for 2010.

Pre-reg at the end of con has always been a "loyalty" benefit. If you know about it then you have been to Fanime a few times. We do not offer it as a certainty and only as time and staffing permits. This will not be scheduled and so you just gotta ask on sunday and/or monday.
We were actually scheduled to have 2010 open from 9-12, but kept it open later. The hours of the pre-reg were never announced and so we are sorry that you were misinformed, but whoever did was also misinformed, and misinformed you.
Hmm, I was thinking, I only need a badge to go to the panels, dealer/artist/gaming hall, and official event. I guess I don't need a badge if I just wanted to attend gatherings and/or watch anime. *ponders*
It's called ghosting and is pretty frowned-upon.
Typically if someone is getting into trouble, vandalizing the property, or ruining everyone's fun - it's a person ghosting. I was really surprised to learn that fact this year, but it's true. Consequently we'll be keeping an eye out for people without badges. The SJPD, Convention Center, and hotel staff were all encouraging us to check badges at different places - setting up a wider perimeter - just to keep ghosts out of the "main" areas.
Quote from: Chiri Kcrinh on May 27, 2009, 03:30:11 PM
I'm pretty sure you need a badge to get into anime viewing rooms/movie rooms...
There are some exceptions, but generally you don't.
I tried to pre-reg monday but I was too late . . . XP
The rovers said that pre-reg online starts a month after the con. So, late June. And it'll go up $5, so $45 online.
Just to let you know, people sometimes do have wrong information (some said at-con was $65, some said $55.... yannow) so, just wait for official announcements, yo. Cos you don't want to get disappointed if you have wrong info... just putting it out there.
Things change each year. Keep on the lookout.
Quote from: OGIGA on May 27, 2009, 01:04:15 PMI don't need a badge if I just wanted to attend gatherings and/or watch anime. *ponders*
I saw a rover with a row of chairs that basically blocked the entry between the Hilton and SJCC in the wee hours of Sunday night (or was it Saturday? the days run together). I don't know if he would've stopped me if I didn't have my badge, but he did stare at my badge as I went past.
Besides, the money is for a
membership, not just entry. Fanime is "by fans, for fans", and that fee we pay is our share of renting out the convention center, making sure there are enough EMTs and police to keep people safe, wireless Internet, and so on. If everybody who went for only anime and cosplay gatherings stopped being members, Fanime probably wouldn't be able to afford a gathering space at all. That fee means we're part of the community and that we support the convention and want it to happen. Please remember that it's far more than just an entry fee.
definately pre-regging this year reason:
1) I don't wanna wait in line for 2 hours again because I'm missing so much already (I can't believe I missed the Ouran gathering T___T)
2) I want those laminated badges.... >////>
3) I haven't tried cosplaying on Day 0 yet so heck yeah >:3
So is there a set date for this Early registration to go online?
I'm assuming you mean pre-reg..
It'll be announced on the website... whether we have a date that is set or not doesn't really mean much for you cos we can't announce it ahead of time anyways.
Just keep checking, is all I can say. ^^
Me, my sister, and a couple of friends already pre-reg for Fanime 2010. It's cheaper that way for me to pre-reg at the con than wait until later.

Online pre-reg isn't up just yet, but it'll be announced here and on the Fanime website (and via Twitter, which is my preferred tracking method :D ) when it is. The online reg is through the Fanime website, and I've found it to be simple and straightforward for the two years I've been going to Fanime.

during the previous con.
so i dunno if you can do this yet, but can we pre reg for fanime 2010 now?

Lets see, I know they have pre-registration around yoai con but thats around October 30 - November 1, 2009.
My guess is has to be around the third week of October!... because i remember pre registering before the begining of november. its a huge guess. but im just crossing my fingers and continue hoping!
no rhyme or reason, we are changing things up again this year and are pushing to get it up as soon as possible.

May I ask if the '10 website will be up before reg? Or are they going to come up at the same time?
Also... is hotel reg going to be up at the usual time, or is it being pushed back as well?

We're trying for it all to happen at once, but everything may not come together at the right time; hotel registration usually comes a little after, for example. But we should definitely have something out at the end of the month.
