Sorry for the late post folks, but here's the final roster for the FMV contest this year.

Once I can get to a laptop or a computer that has an actual keyboard after the con, we'll have the winners posted!

Also, as requested by members of the audience I talked to on the way out, here's the ballot for the final show: http://i.imgur.com/3oU7a9N.jpg Photo is courtesy of Tigrin, one of our finalists who attended the show!

And also have a panorama of Stage Zero from where I was standing during the Award Ceremony: http://i.imgur.com/zRoEDMy.jpg Um, please ignore the folks who are missing part of their heads. Panorama pictures are finicky things.

Big thanks again to all the editors who entered the show! We hope to see you guys again in 2018!

While I'm in-between renders of the show, let me give you guys some news!

-The time slot we've been allotted is set from 3-6PM in the Main Video and Industry rooms on Saturday the 27th.
-If you're an editor, even if you didn't make the finals, you'll be given priority seating. I'll instruct the folks volunteering at the front of each room to let you through, but keep in mind we need to pack everything as tightly as humanly possible.
-The awards will be handed out at Stage Zero at noon on Monday the 29th. If you win and you can't make it, I'll be mailing out the awards after confirming your address.

That being said, let's get onto the finalists eh?

Okay, it's more like 18 hours, but seriously ladies and gentlemen(?), it's the last day to get your entries in! Please follow the instructions on the first post for proper instructions on how to submit your videos!

To the editors who haven't received an email yet regarding confirmation that we've received the videos, it will be sent out this weekend once the entry period has ended and the Google form for entry has been closed.

Thanks for the links Animator22. Updated the list on my post, but the one you put up for Everyday Wolves seems to be sending me to a Cowboy Bebop vid instead.

Shorisquared was kind enough to assemble a playlist of the finalist videos! Check it out here!

Here's the pre-show vids too folks!

Digital Champions - Gabbi
Everyday Wolves - Tigrin
How to be a Human - Animator22
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes - SoLongDreamWorld

I can't seem to find some of the other vids, so if you see it please give me a heads up and I'll add it to this list.

Want to thank the editors again and it was a blast to talk with some of you guys before the show! Sorry that we weren't able to get everyone's videos on screen, but the entrants, judges, and our time limits were absolutely brutal this year.

Hello,

Just checking to see if there's any information about the event after the submission process. I haven't seen any info after I received the submission received email so just want to be sure the event is still on.

Thank you!!

The event is most definitely still on! I'm working on compiling the preshow and intro at the moment with plans to list the finalists just before the show and emails to be sent to them much before then.

Right now with the video department heads we've got the show planned for 4-8PM on Saturday with an encore to be shown on Sunday at 1:30 to 4:30PM. I won't know which rooms we're going to be using until later this week sadly, so I can't give any more info on that.

One thing I have a problem with:

Quote from: Tsu on February 20, 2015, 10:34:09 PMNO bumpers, subtitles (unless made by you), watermarks, personal identifiers, titles, company logos or credits.

This isn't a problem for most of my videos, because most of my videos use a standard bumper that I can easily remove. However, my next two projects - "35 Years" and "Failure in Stereo" - will have unusual openings into which the WDS logo will be irremovably integrated as part of the video itself.

That's how the rules are breaking down this year. Bumpers, titles, watermarks, etc., will be treated as grounds for DISQUALIFICATION, no exceptions.

If you can make another opening/video that can get the point across or look just as good as the video without titles, we can accept it, but in any other cases our hands are tied. Sorry.

More valve items, as there was literally 1 booth that had any, and even that they didn't have much. 2013 had more than last year.....

Glitch Gear had a decent amount, though it was mostly shirts and Portal merchandise (sentry turret blind boxes, lemon grenades, etc.). Level Up Studios was also there and they carried some of the action figures, but aside from that I think they only had fan-made artwork/shirts and the like scattered across other booths, if they were even available.

As much as I love Valve and their properties, I wouldn't suggest doling out $50 for a replica of the Sandvich or $20-30 for the figures that can break just removing them from the packaging.
#19
QuoteFrom the coordinator: The aspect ratio requirements, like the majority of the rules for the contest, were carried over from the prior years' rules. I took over mere months before the con so my team and I didn't have much time to come up with a rule sheet or make changes. This will be amended in 2015. Videos were still allowed through the judging this year so long as they were at least 640x480.

There's still plenty of time before the contest and we're still in the midst of planning new rules and prizes. Please hold on for a little bit while we try to get everything in place on our end.

Hi WDS,

Sorry for the late reply. For future reference, if you have a question off-season you'll probably have better luck emailing us at fmv (at) fanime.com. We don't check these forums daily in the off-season.

The easy answer is, yes, all the finalist videos are spliced together into one file. It's easier for the coordinators and the staff & volunteers who run the program. The show is rendered out at 1280x720. Smaller, 4:3 videos aren't stretched but just fill up the space they naturally would and remain 4:3. This is pretty practice common for AMV competitions.

As of 2014 there were no official rules that videos be anime or VG-sourced only, but that may be subject to change in 2015. The rules aren't decided yet and some things may be changing. You can expect the new rules to go up sometime early next year. Submitting your video won't be possible until then, so there's no rush to get your video formatted for our show just yet.
