[RED vs. BLUE]

Calling ALL Jump Cosplayers!
Maikiritori and I have entered into a friendly game of Cosplay Checkers for 2011. Each of us are building a team to play in the 2nd game of Jump Cosplay Checkers (thread located here: http://forums.fanime.com/index.php/topic,13720.0.html ) RED vs. BLUE

What we are looking for is cosplayers that REALLY know their characters and are strong enough to out-cosplay other Jump characters! So if you know your Jump character really well and can handle things like Goku's Kamahamaha, Yu-Gi-OH!'s Blue-eyes Silver Dragon, Kurama's Rose whip, Ichigo's bankai attack, a Prince of Tennis serve, or even a surprise Naruto Ramen Bowl Smash! then sign up for one of the two teams.

Each person who wants to participate is asked to submit 2 attack and 2 defense moves that they would use as their character *See Below for more detail* When it get's close to con (around May 1st) the teams will each choose the 7 attacks and 7 defense moves they would like to allow both teams to use in the game. Then the Compete List of Attacks and Defensive Moves Allowed will be posted on the 1st post of both of the Team threads and are the ones that will be allowed during game play at con.

PLEASE REMEMBER this game is ALL FOR FUN and NO Real Violence will be tolerated! We want to see the true cosplaying spirit brought to the game of checkers.

Here is what you need to do when you post in either thread:

1. Pick a team.

2. Your JUMP character and title it is from.

3. List 2 attacks and 2 defenses you will use and a brief description of the attack/defense.
These can be made up, but don't go all dramatic on it. Let's keep it simple please.

EXAMPLES of attack & defense:

• Attack #1: My character will use the Drunken Monkey attack ~ which is where I pretend to drink a bottle of sake' and then do a monkey looking jumping spin kick that should knock my opponent down.
• Attack #2: My character will use the Hot Ramen Bowl attack ~ which is where I pretend to throw a large bowl of hot Ramen at my opponent causing temporary blindness.

• Defense #1: The Buddy Shield ~ This is where I use a cosplaying friend from the same series as myself to take the opponent's attack for me and I can then counter attack only once.
  (note * If this is used it can only be used once in the game and the "buddy" can be someone from the opposite team or not on the playing field. If used "the buddy" is then out of the game.
• Defense #2: Pirate Two-Step ~ This is where I am allowed two steps/squares of movement. First step is to dodge the attack and the second step is to either allow a safety square for me to land on or *IF KINGED ALREADY* to attack my opponent once in return.

I Encourage ALL cosplayers to post what you are cosplaying as over the course of Fanime. This will help those interested in starting a gathering (Thread starter is the Organizer) to know if there are enough (it takes 4) people cosplaying from the subject who would be interested in a gathering.

#9 You may use this thread to find other cosplayers for a Masquerade skit. Change Post topic to reflect that you are looking for cospeep for Masq. skit and list your email or have them pm you OFF LIST. Re post if your position (s) get filled.

As you can see if this thread becomes a problem I will shut it down. If everyone behaves it should be a great place to find out who is cosplaying what and to find other people cosplaying similar cosplay. From now on I will move such threads into this thread and those previously started will be locked and referred to this thread.

*Edit* Many Cosplayers know that I have been organizing the gatherings @ Fanime for the last 5 years. I have been a moderator in this forum section since it's creation over a year ago. Posting such specific rules in a thread or even locking sooo many topics is rare but such threads have become excessive.

I like to see gatherings succeed and cosplayers having lots of fun @ Fanime, thus why I do what I do, but with with the excess of threads this forum has become excessively filled with threads that distract or confuse other cosplayers so they can't find the gatherings they would like to attend even with my Gathering/Event URL thread located here:

So you want to cosplay and you aren't sure who or which character? Maybe your stuck on how to sew a part of your cosplay? Your no good at props/wigs/costume so where can you buy it? How about what kind of pattern could help you create that piece? Of course there are always the "Where/What kind of makeup?" "Looking for this or that wig, where can I get it?" "Contact lenses and what do you think?"

These questions and thousands of others are always being asked. Well here is the perfect one stop shop thread for you to post those questions and where other cospeeps can offer their help to solve those many cosplaying dilemmas that go into each project we choose. Sometimes it is just choosing that stops us from cosplaying and those questions are ok too! :)

The Cosplayer Gatherings Department is looking for a few good fans & photographers (amateur & professional) to be a part of our staff. As CG staff you will meet many of the cosplayers in all those fantastic costumes, know the 411 on where a gathering or event is, help control the crowd of fans at some of Fanime's big gatherings along with the opportunity of knowing first hand how to run a gathering on site during Fanime. Our work is during the day so your nights are free to watch Cosplay Masquerade, move your body at the Fanime Dance, listen to the bands at Music Fest, grab a partner and twirl around the dance floor at the Black and White Ball, take in some night time programming at Stage Zero, Karaoke, or Video, unless you just want to hang out with your friends!

With our department we allow our staff to Cosplay (not mandatory though) while they work and can make allowances for you to participate in a few gatherings or even attend other Fanime programming! Cosplaying & actively assisting in making FanimeCon 2011 a great experience for all the attending fans how AWESOME is that!

You should know that it is mandatory that all CG Staff will attend the Thursday, May 26, 2011 meeting at the convention center. It is important for all our staff to be present for this because we will have training, go over CG department operations, and do a walkabout to all the gathering/event locations of our department.

Adjustments to your time sheet will be made at the end of the meeting, so that you can attend some of the FanimeCon activities, but this is where you would swap time with another CG staff member. If you can not make it to the Thursday, May 26, 2011 meeting then this is not the staff position for you. CG staff will work at least 20 hours over the course of the weekend during FanimeCon and the Pre Con meeting does not count towards your hours.

Cosplayer Gatherings Department STAFF Hours of Operation:
hrs of op depend on Gatherings/Events list the closing time may be earlier.
Thursday ~ (day zero 2 1/2 hr meeting) & (CG Staff dinner night after the meeting)
Friday ~ 9 AM – 8 PM
Saturday ~ 9 AM – 7 PM
Sunday ~ 9 AM – 7 PM
Monday ~ 9 AM – 4 PM or until last gathering/event checks in and breakdown is complete.

Things we are looking for in Cosplayer Gatherings Staff & Photographers:
~ prefer 18 years and up
~ any previous staff experience is not required but is preferred
~ polite & friendly
~ willing to answer the same question multiple times
~ ability to talk to people
~ understand why people cosplay
~ can have fun with others
~ For photography ~ Photographer etiquette to cosplayers, other photographers, and attendees

Cosplayer Gathering General Staff Duties:
~ Gathering/Event Organizer check in
~ Gatherings/Event attendance counting
~ Greeting attendees and addressing questions asked or directing them to a location that can
~ Assist in the operations of the FanimeCon Theme Gathering & Cosplayer Events
~ Assist in the operations of CG department raffles
~ Run various errands over the weekend
**Photographer duties TBD by photography skills**

Cosplayer Gatherings Staff Training:
~ General etiquette while conversing with attendees & photographers
~ Line/Crowd control
~ Filling out of department paperwork
~ General interaction protocol while handling CG business with other departments at FanimeCon

If you are interested in being on staff with Cosplayer Gatherings we would like you to do two things:
1. Send me an email at gatherings [at] fanime [dot] com & a pm (for questions or letting me know you have sent me a response via email) on the Fanime Forums (the pm also lets me know you have a forum account.) Please put CG Department Staff 2011 in the subject line. Include any skill, training, education or info about you that you feel we might be interested in.

If you are looking to be a photographer (amateur & professional are encouraged to apply) on our staff please submit link or links to album/folder/gallery specifically showcasing 20 pictures you feel represent your style, artistic eye, abilities and range. Please tell us how long you have been taking pictures, camera (s), lenses, if you have any education in photography, and anything else you feel would be important for us to know. A simple digital camera and six months of amateur photography can land you a spot on our staff if we like what we see, so don't be afraid to apply.

2. Attend the upcoming January 15, 2011 Fanime Staff Meeting (@ 3pm) where we will meet with all prospective staff. This will be held in the San Jose Hilton Hotel Santa Clara room. This is the Hilton hotel attached to the Convention Center.

Maikiritori and I would like to meet all perspective staff with some of our current staff to make sure we are all the right fit! We will ask you some questions such as, "Why do you want to staff with us?" or "What areas have you worked at con before and where?" and we will answer your questions too. If our department doesn't work for you then one of the other departments might be so we will point you in the right direction if possible. We look forward to hearing from you soon!

[Fanime 2014 Theme ~ "Celebrate" the COSPLAYER Gathering:]

FanimeCon's 2014 Theme is ... I don't know, but I think it is Celebration... but I have an interesting idea for a great gathering for this 20th Anniversary year of FanimeCon!?.

How about we get all the cosplayers out front in one placeand at one time and have a "Cosplayer Gathering." I have always wondered how many cosplayers we could get out there in front and now the construction is over we can meet up and actually do this... but I know I would need LOTS of help to pull this off.

So is this worth trying... could we do it... should we do it? Tell me what you think of this idea.

Hello there Final Fantasy cospeeps!

2015 is the last year I will be hosting this gathering @ FanimeCon. I have many wonderful memories over the past 9 years because of you, the cosplayers, coming out to my gathering and making wonderful things happen. :)

2006 was all the fun cosplay cross-play pictures that everyone was game to do. 2007 It took a break and came back in 08 with a vengeance! So many people showed up that I vowed to have it every year as long as I could run it. 2009 was the first year I had to juggle the commitment to organizing all the gatherings for Fanime and the commitment to organizing my own gatherings which taught me that I could juggle, but not as well as I would have liked *LOL. So in 2010 when we were officially our own department I set out to reward different gatherings with surprises and Hiroyuki Yamaga came out to the FF gathering. He was kind enough to judge all the FF cosplay costumes (where an Auron from FF 7 won) and I got to cosplay as Siren from FF 8 for the first time with our department cosplayer mascot (My grandson) who was a chibi Carbuncle also from FF 8. 2010 - 2012 saw our numbers increase with the new FF game releases and year after year I saw more extravagant & detailed Final Fantasy characters come out and represent their favorite FF game.

2012's FF gathering was (most memorable year for many) actually my best surprise at ANY gathering to date.... The Final Fantasy VII (mock) Wedding (with real marriage proposal) where none of the attendees knew what my surprise at the gathering was till it was gathering time! We held it at "The Slab" where Sephiroth walked Cloud Strife up the tree lined path to the stairs. All the female cospeeps formed two lines leading up to the stairs and all the male cospeeps circled the path to the alter. There the mock Pastor Jehova clone awaited with Zack Fair (the Groom) Aerith (Matron of Honor) and Tifa (as the Best Man.) The "Turks" rounded out the display and were key to letting the bride (Cloud Strife) know this was a REAL wedding proposal by holding up a sign with her real name and the question on it. 2013 I saw, for the first and only time, one cosplayer from each of the FF online games (FFIX, FFXI, FFIV) represented. It was a wonderful surprise that I never thought would happen. 2014 (last year) Saturday was just an unfortunate day for me. I had someone go and run the gathering since an emergency arose and I could not be there. I missed out! I missed ALL of you wonderful FF cospeeps and it SUCKED!
So this year I WILL BE THERE! Though it may be My last year hosting this gathering I sincerely hope it is not the last year for this gathering. I know I will need help, and I plan to cosplay, but I truly want this to be the biggest and best represented it has EVER been. PLEASE take the time Saturday, 12 pm, @ G9 (the "FALLOUT ZONE" in front of Registration where the stairs are) and come join me in MY Final ~ Final Fantasy All gathering.

A QUESTION MARK (?) in front of a gathering name means that it currently does NOT have enough cosplay character people interested in attending the gathering. This will most likely change before Fanime. In the Cosplay.com section a Name may be BOLDED means that the thread starter here is also overseeing the Fanime Forum thread.

Well MET! my fellow Fanime Cospeeps! :)

Over the course of time things evolve and cosplay at Fanime has also. I am wondering who is planning to show off their new cosplay for Fanime 09? What is it? Who is it? What is the character from? I know that there are lots of cosplays planned by all you wonderful Fanime cospeeps, but what do you have new and exciting planned JUST 4 FANIME?

As for me... well I have debuted new cosplay almost every year I have attended and 09 is no exception. I plan on debuting Camillia & Bebedora from Arc the Lad (VG), Mature from King of Fighters (VG), and either Sir Integra Wingate Helsing from Helsing (Anime) or a character from BLEACH (Anime).

My list does not include the cosplay consignments I need to finish between now and then so there is at least 4 more cosplays that I know will be new ones. ;P

So post me and tell me all about your debute.
