chair rentals, screens for stage zero, internets, water dispensers and water, sound systems, does it cost money to be able to play certain music at the dances and at the ball? nice printed-in-color laminated badges with badge clips, goodie bags, advertising, all the stuff for the panels (microfones, more screens, chair rentals), transportations and such for important guests, exclusive party for one of the honored guests, etc.  Just to add to the list.

All of those cost money.
Yeah, that was the point of my post.  I was answering the "what does reg money go towards" question.

It's also the answer to your question in your comment. It does cost money to play music in the convention center.

Can someone tell me how to get a ticket for the sweet 16 party. Also the "rum" party.

The Rum Party is on Friday, 8pm-2am. There's an error in the pocket guide for the date and times. You don't need a ticket to go an play at the Rum Party, just show your badge and have some fun!

I just double checked, I'm staying at the Marriot (first time) and my group is getting a Junior Suite (first time).

The Marriot is on the side where all the anime screenings and maid cafe is right? I prefer the Hilton side myself but whatever works, I'm sure the extra little walk won't kill us lol.

The Marriott is where the Panels will be held. The video rooms are also on that side but in the convention center.  Fanimaid Cafe is on the Hilton side of the concourse.

Email HR(at)fanime(dot)com and Will should be able to answer your question.

The schedule has not yet been posted. Just a bit more patience and it should be up soon.

(I'm moving this thread to the General Convention.)

nice reminder. not gonna stop it though. nice try.

It's the request of the band. I personally think it's disrespectful to try and take a picture of the band or film them when they've asked not to have cameras.

Just as an FYI, there will be a bag check. If you have a camera, you won't get into the Civic.  If you take pictures with your phone during the concert, you will be escorted out.

Will they also have a vendor of LM.C t-shirts and such merchandise to buy that is for the occasion of the concert?

Yes, I believe merch will be sold at the concert.

Oh yes!! ;D
AH.. I'm not sure if anyone has asked this question, but what day and what room will this event take place?
Thank you.

The LM.C concert is on Sunday, May 30th at 7pm in the San Jose Civic.

So, to enter.. all you need is your badge right?
And it takes place @ the Civi Auditorium?

I'm SO DARN X-CITED >____________>
is the event free?

Your badge is tangible proof of your purchased membership. So just make sure your valid badge is visible when you enter the Civic.

If you have a full membership (i.e. a four day membership), then you're good to go for ALL the events at FanimeCon.

If you bought a single day membership (Friday), then you can go to the concert but not to the Q&A session or the Autograph session which are held on Saturday. You would need a Saturday membership in order to attend.

Just wanted to let y'all know (and after lurking in this particular thread for a week now, everyone here is super awesome and nice!) that the FLOW concert will start at 7pm and end right before 9pm. (I believe there might be a slight error in the pocket guide with the ending time.)

Doors open at 6pm. I hope to see everyone in line!

I've never taken the dance lesson. I might take hem hough but beig a first timer I'm really shy so if anyone needs a partner let me know. But remember I'm not the type to dance with someone who's ten years older than me xD

If you go to the dance lessons, you switch partners so that you can feel more comfortable dancing with different people (who have different dancing styles). Maybe you will make a friend with some of your partners at the dance lessons and will be able to dance with them at the Ball.

I think FLOW will be awesome to sing to.

Or just sing along with them during their concert. ^_^

Will FLOW have an autograph session like the other guests?

FLOW will have a Q&A session as well as an Autograph session on Saturday. Please keep an eye out for the schedule when it becomes available!

most of us like myself can't get that Friday off. I work till late.  WHY FREAKING FRIDAY??!?!??!?!?!?
bad bad mistake there.

FanimeCon officially kicks off at 2pm on Friday. So why not a concert on Friday night? It'll start the convention on a rockin' good note! :D

Just to address several points.

Why Friday? We've been planning for a Friday concert for MusicFest every year since I became Division Head 3 years ago. We start planning for next year's convention as soon as the current convention is over. We do take a few days to sleep and recover but MusicFest starts planning right away. And we plan YEAR ROUND. It takes a great deal of time to get Musical Guests who we think would fit well with our attendees.

Attendees at Swap Meet are just as important as attendees at MusicFest. We do not distinguish them since we care about ALL our attendees. Unfortunately, there will be scheduling conflicts of events for a convention of our size. We trust that our attendees are mature enough to make their decisions about what they want to attend or not. Whether it's selling their artwork at Artist Alley or going to panels/gatherings or participating in the Cosplay Spectacular or catching one of the MusicFest concerts.

It is unfair to say that one event is planned to spite another event. This is completely untrue. MusicFest would still have a concert on Friday regardless of the band. This is not planned to spite those attendees who are committed to one event but want to come to the concerts. It's just the way it happened. (Especially if it's a band that people really want to see.)

The timing of the announcement is what it is because we only announce when everything is official. This includes the suggestions that attendees make to when everything is in hand and ready to be announced. There's a lot going on behind the scenes and we don't have much control on the time it takes to get this out. Sometimes it happens sooner (like announcing LM.C), sometimes it happens later (like announcing FLOW), and sometimes we worked really hard on something only to have it fall through the cracks (like with UVERworld years ago).   That's just how it is.
