they ARE 2 different events tho
speed dating is more a one-on-one interaction
granted, theres a LOT of one-on-one interactions but its different
plus this would be a public event and stuff like that
Well it's more then just that. Like someone said in the sister thread:

Speed dating is a LOT more time effective. By the time you finish 1 round of the Stage Zero version, you could probably have met AT LEAST 4 people at the Speed Dating version.

I'd say swap meet.... I spent 28$ total :D
I was selling and trying to get people to haggle with me but they didn't want to :/
Lots of shy people......
Well if you're selling and you don't care about people haggling with you...put up a sign. That'll totally attract attention.

I was wanting to get a small like 4" Street Fighter Figurine, and the guy wanted like $15+ for it! I mean for that price I got a 1' tall figurine/action figure thing! INSANE!

Also this one chick was selling this shiny pink necklace...but she wouldn't drop it below like $35, or was that $30. I could find something that nice or better on e-bay for cheaper. Hell Lokisa sells some nice stuff for cheaper!

One thing that was COMPLETELY missing from the Dealer's room: Momoi CDs!

I mean seriously! We can get her t-shirts that she's importing from Japan. I remember seeing one of her concert DVDs from when she was with Under 17, but God forbid we get one of her CDs!! I'd REALLY like to not have to pay for full price of all that shipping to get them here in the USA damn it >.<

Yeah I think that sounds like a lot of fun! Cosplay Bachelor/ette show! <3

If we do that I totally want to sign up! <3

That sounds super hilarious! I think we should totally do it! XD

Dealing with companies that send people out to measure something, measure and order what you need wrong, and then giving you the run around for two weeks while you wait for the right thing.
I think that qualifies under the whole "People don't know how to do their fucking jobs, or at least don't care enough to do it right" category >.<

Soo...I'm down for picking a time and a place to hang out there.

So would we do this on a weekday...?

i like it
out of a scale of 10, id put it at a 8 or 9
the only reason i say that with a lower score is cuz this was the first time
and they need to change some of the tactics and stuff

it didn't matter about the whole picky thing
we had numbers and we sat at particular numbers (the girls i mean)
and the guys had letters and at first they sat at a particular letter
and than they rotated in order
there was no picky-ness of the tables and stuff
they moved in order of the rotation
You totally missed what I was trying to get across.

What I meant was: When it's the guys moving from table to table, Girls are LESS LIKELY to pick ANY guy to date/give their e-mail to/etc.

When it's the GIRLS moving from table to table, they are MORE LIKELY to give out their e-mail/choose a guy to date/etc.

Boys sit + Girls Move = Higher % Chance girls will find a guy they like. (Better Dating Odds)
Girls sit + Boys Move = Lower % Chance girls will find a guy they like. (Lower Dating Odds)

I didn't want to go this year, because I wasn't sure how good it would be.

#1  How would you all rate the Speed Dating? Would you recommend me going next year?

#2 Next time you should have the GIRLS wait outside, while GUYS at the table. Why? It's because of my Psychology Today or Scientific American Mind Magazine said that GIRLS are LESS PICKY when they are the ones MOVING from TABLE TO TABLE.  Just thought you might want to increase those chances of success for next year. ^_^   If you want I can go digging around for the article about it.

I'd totally be down for this. My only concern is having people show up. I once tried to host a local gathering over in Oakland, and only one other person from the Board came.  Seeing as how I live in Alameda, I would LOVE to come to the gathering.

Although Google can't seem to find it, only some shoreline place, which I think is located in Oakland. Did you mean Washington Park by the beach perhaps?

More wall scrolls, Affordable figurines/action figures (Prices varied greatly from $10 to over $50 depending on the character and who sold it), and Lolita or other cool Japanese clothing in Tall American Size.

People who say they'll room with you and then cancel at the last minute or never show up.

(You people know who you are)

Dealers Room / Re: Dealers Room vs Swap Meet
May 31, 2010, 07:32:18 PM
This year I was dissapointed. There wasn't much that interested me in the swap meet. I got some DVDs partially because they were a good, but not great price...and partially to bless the friend selling it. I DID however get a couple "How To Draw Manga" books for INSANELY cheap! Just $8 for two of them, which I am giving to my niece who loves using them to improve her drawing skills.

This year in the dealer's room is where I found some insanely cheap prices! A Morrigan figure that was like 6" tall in an alternate color for like $15! An EVA Unit 00 Action figure, a more basic model, for $10! It was strange seeing the massive price difference for different characters and models, even at the same dealer!

Anybody here ever played Zombies? It's so much fun! You guys should check it out.
That game is definitely an amusing game to play at times. There's just something magical about killing zombies, and dumping zombies on friends XD

I'll probably bring MUCHKIN and UNO cuz I'm constantly play those games anyways.
Munchkin is always a great clssic. Although I prefer Fluxx to Uno, since Fluxx is so much more insane ^^;
