As of this writing, there is one pre-reg spot remaining. I took out one more person from Livermore who didn't fill in their email. If you are this person, you better re-sign up quickly! This is the fastest response we've had in Fanime Karaoke Contest history, thank you everyone for your support!
Since we have such a quick response this year, I will post the list names of qualified entries by next weekend. I will also email everyone with some additional contest info, so please pay attention to your emails.
The contest order will be posted one week before the con.

ahaha, I'm glad I stayed around last night (Thank god the computer lab is open 24/7 for finals this week <3), otherwise...*low whistle*
now to actually decide if the songs I signed up with are the ones I want to sing....
For the order, (since I was half asleep, and it was around 2AM) I don't remember if I put down early as possible or late as possible for my time (nickname is Chira Wilder), but I'm running a panel from 9-10, so if I can get into early as possible (if I didn't put it down; I really don't remember ;_;), or late as possible works if you think the late people will actually be from about 10-11PM. Sorry for the trouble!
i just figured out (or rememberd) that i put the different song for preliminary than what i decided.
err, i should remember this change for 2 1/2 weeks so i can change it at con!

I had to change my prelim song when the rules were posted because I realized that the song I was practicing wouldn't cut off cleanly at all after the first chorus (it goes immediately into the next verse, no break at all). It's a cool song, too, but I was too in love with my final one to change that. Oh well, I do like the song I'm actually doing for prelim, and I can always sing the other one at open mic sometime.
Is open mic going on pretty much all weekend?

Open Mic will be going on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, except of course during the contests.

If it's from an anime or video game, it's okay. Otherwise, Enka is technically not "j-pop/j-rock". I'm sure though that Enka would be a great entry in the Gong Show :D

As a general note, we're holding the entire contest during the 7PM to 11PM block, so by 10PM we should be winding up the prelims and getting going on the Finals.

I know Fanime has grown a lot over the years and with how quickly this year's karaoke filled up, I'm hoping it will happen next year. Just a suggestion! Every entry received this year was for soloists, so we would need more groups. It seems to be tougher in general to get a large number of group entries, but we'll re-examine during the planning for next year!

there are some restaurants that do karaoke nights. you just gotta find them and they're hard. but once you do, sooooooooooooo worth it! :D
There is no hard age limit for our contests, other than that you have to be able to get on the stage and do the performance yourself. We've had contestant ages from about 13 to late 40s.
Also, the Gong Show, due to its late night time and that it could have some interesting humor, is highly recommended for 16 and over.
How do we know we got onto the list? I'm still not sure I did but.. never said I didn't. XD We'll we be e-mailed?
Yes I want to know too. Last week was said that this past weekend we were going to get the confirmations and I haven't get anything yet.

My friend missed the deadline, and he might not make it to the 4pm At-Con signups. Instead, he wants me to register on his behalf. He even told me that he would e-mail me a list of songs.
Could this happen, or does he have to be there himself?

The whole point of the at-con signups is that you have to be there. So yes, he has to be there himself.
If he can't make it right at 4, he should still come whenever he can. At 6:30, we can drop anyone who has not yet checked in, so it's very possible we'll actually take more than five people at con.
