What were FanimeCon's attendance numbers like this year in terms of unique paid attendees, warm bodies with con badges, and turnstyle attendance count?

What were the convention's attendance numbers in 2011?

Well it's interesting that AnimeCons.com won't rank FanimeCon 2010 in their most recent podcast because they "never got a press release" and they didn't find the information on the website. Then again it was filmed before the new website went up, so I'll bet that someone told them so that they can correct that list.
Yeah, the January episode was filmed the Monday before Christmas.

The 2010 attendance number is posted on our site now:

I don't want to make assumptions, but conventions that normally give out their attendance numbers often keep quiet about them if there's a drop from the previous year.

I stick by my "over 9,000" comment; that one is solid, at least.  ;D

FanimeCon: "Over 9,000" since 2005  ;)

Well, which number would you like?  :-\

Whatever is available.  Preferably both paid attendance AND total attendance (number of people issued a badge including staff, guests, press, etc.)

I hear that someone once tried to post the #'s on wikipedia and the changes were immediately reversed, EVEN after confirming the editor's identity as the friggen CHAIR of the con....

Wikipedia cannot be a source for information and will only list information if there is another source.  In other words, if the attendance number is published on the Fanime web site or on AnimeCons.com, then that is considered the source and the Wikipedia article can cite either of those as the source.  Wikipedia, however, cannot be the source itself.

The best method for a convention to get any information into its Wikipedia article is to publish that information on the convention's web site.  I've seen a bunch of conventions that use an "About" page or a "History" page for this reason.  Then if someone goes and edits Wikipedia with false information, the correct info can easily be referenced on the About/History page of the con's web site.

Animecons.com is not really an authority nor is Wikipedia. The site can contact Fanime to get them numbers but has rather pulled from a forum post and wiki has very lax criteria for sources.

It's unfortunate that Fanime is not as forthcoming with attendance numbers as every other large convention out there.

13k+ was what was announced at Closing Ceremonies; please go with that until numbers are announced.
It's been several months.  Were the final numbers ever announced?

...and this post says 2008's numbers were much higher than 11,000.  (Information from that post has been used for the number posted on AnimeCons.com...and Wikipedia cites AnimeCons.com as its source for most anime con attendance numbers.)

Every year there seems to be lots of confusion as to what the attendance numbers actually are.
