How did I miss this post?

Anyways, Friday or Saturday would be the best days for attendance. Of course day 0 Thursday the attendees trying to get their badges may not have time if something goes wrong with the badge system again. I will tell my friends about this panel since they use Adobe products, specifically photoshop.

Registration / Professional/Press Registration
February 26, 2016, 02:25:38 AM
Hello and good day,

A lot of people are wondering when Pre reg will be up and running, since hotels are already up, and most hotels around the convention center are already booked up.

This then questions if there will be rooms available when pro reg comes up and running. I hope answers will be made here, since lots of people in this industry of the con are starting to ask more questions and we can't find the answers.

Thank you,

As per clarification from Facebook, I know this is a late post, but yes, as per group registration, each member in the group is capable of a hotel room if needed.

This has been verified by the official Fanime Facebook page.

Hello and good day,

I have a question about the Fanime Hotel Priority Reservations:

If there is a group with more than the number of people allowed for hotel occupancy, for example a group of 5 or more people, will that group be able to reserve the amount of hotel rooms needed if the group leader were to be the one who used his/her email address to buy the badges. Note only 1 email address was used during the Pre-Registration process to buy all the badges.

Will he/she get a confirmation and priority bookings for each and every confirmation/badge number, or is it just 1 room for that email?

Lots of people are asking this, since stated on the Facebook and Twitter feeds that 1 hotel room can be reserved. For 2013, I had over 26 people under my group registration, which I have bought on the first day of Pre-Registration started. I know, many people like myself, which does group registration, probably feels the same way right now.

A swift answer would be greatly appreciated.

So I asked around and called the CMRUS number to get a little more information and seems badges are needed to get a room this year. Each badge will have it's own confirmation email, doesn't matter if it's group registration or not. If there is anyone using group registration, please check your emails, as they will have a summary of all badges, with the confirmation number of each badge on either the side or top of each name. Most likely the person who created the group will be the only person to have the email, so please contact your group leader if you plan to get a hotel on your own. For those who have not received an email right after registering for the badge, please contract CMRUS housing immediately!!! Always keep a print out of the end summary just in case, which is helpful if you don't receive the email at the end.

This is all the info I have received so far. If any of you have more to add, any info would be helpful, would be appreciated.

Staff is working very hard right now, and they always do every time the convention takes place. Please take the time to thank the staff for their work to make this convention great in the Northern California area.

Hotel and Facilities / Re: Tips for an ABSOLUTE Noob?

Hello and welcome to the Fanime Forums.

So in order to get a hotel, this year, you will need a badge first, which will give you a confirmation number when you receive your email.
You will need a credit card in order for you to get your room, as mentioned above, debit card is not advised. I have been on the waiting list for both 2013 and 2014, but as long as you are up before hotel registration comes up, you should be fine. You will not be charged, depending on hotel, until arrival. I have always chose the Fairmont, and that's how they always done it. Hotel security deposits are usually $100 a day, but as long as the room does not get demolished, which in some cases they have been to some people, you will get refunded usually 3-5 business days, after your stay.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Hotel and Facilities / Re: Hotels....

Please, lets try to stay on topic. I know as hotel registration goes, it has always been like this. Please be patient. Watch all the social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, Forums, and even the website.

Some people have already asked if they have missed the registration deadline. The answer is not yet. More information will be posted at a later date.

There has been some question about the confirmed date January 19th. That date is a possibility, but unlikely, since it is only 5 days away. Fanime has been known to do things in it's last minute, but 5 days is cutting it. Also I have called the registration number to verify and re-verified, it seems they are discussing about an actual date for their website to be ready for.

I know things are hard, especially something so important as Fanime hotel registration. I've been going to Fanime since 2006 and still love going to this convention due to friends new and old. It is important that we help each other, especially some people may be their first time even going. Having an attitude on the forums, if someone new checks it, they may not even want to go to Fanime due to some posts.

Also, for a last note, it has been confirmed that badges are needed to get hotel rooms, and each badge, regarding group registration or not, will have a confirmation number when receiving the badge email.

This is the most help I can give. I actually want to help if I could do more, but please try to stay on topic if possible and be helpful when any of you can.

So it has come to my attention that some people have called the cmrus number in questions about reservations. I understand that in order to reserve a hotel room, you will need to purchase a badge first, receive a confirmation number, then use that number to get your hotel.

A few people have asked if the person who has a group, or is the group leader, to get the hotels for their group. For ex: if the group is 22 people, can he/she get enough hotel rooms for that party?

The cmrus advisor stated it is 1 hotel room per group, instead of the 1 confirmation number per hotel room.

Can anyone from registration or administration answer this question on how a person gets a room this year? I know they tried to do this in 2014 but never implemented due to all the complaints.

Been to Fanime since 2006.

Yes, they fixed the two person problem this year. I paid for myself and my fiance together and used the same email address. Two separate confirmation numbers were given with a QR code for both persons.

Hotel and Facilities / Re: So...Waitlist?
December 08, 2014, 09:24:36 PM
This is a stupid way to even have this so called waitlist.

If a person does not have a hotel room, and everything is full, then he or she should be able to go onto this waitlist. This wouldn't be fair to others as the system crashed within minutes for the start of hotel reg, and I understand there aren't that many hotel rooms, but for people with reservations for hotels, they are lucky. True some people want to change their reservation dates, or give the reservation to other people, but it's not fair to those who do not have hotel rooms.

This is something you have to look at, and may lose people this way.

So, I know this definitely didn't happen this year, but SRP also known as Synthesized Reality Productions, had 2 vocaloid concerts this year. The first one at KrakenCon 2014 and the second at PMX "Pacific Media Expo". I would love to try to see them next year for Fanime 2015 and would be a great way to get more of the vocaloid fans in the bay area!!! Idk if you still have their contact info, but it would be a great thing to have like in 2012.

Well, in my opinion, artist allry should go back to where it was before, right next to the dealers hall where the current so called food court is. That has way more space and air so it won't be too stuffy.  The gaming hall has always been there, the dealers hall is always grand, but artist alley needs the food court space back. The quality this year was great, swap meet was horrible. Before the swap meet was located with the gaming hall combined, all around the walls in the perimeter. That had more space than the civic center by at least 2x. Plus the lines wouldn't be that long. If anything, the grand ball room had way more space than the civic center.

This is going to be my 10th fanime next year. I want to see some differences and upgrades.

So, looking at the polls, I think it should just be first come first served with a jury selection as a hybrid. There should be some other way to get this done. How has other cons done it? What do you artist want? What do the people want? We need more votes.
#15
So, there was no ITG this year and the games are still outdated to some extent. Initial D, Maximum Tune, etc. Needs more claw machines and better prizes. What would you guys want to see next year??
#16
This is exactly the same quote as last year. They plan to use this selection for future cons as stated last year. There were too many participants and not enough tables. But then again, if they used the original artist alley location, that would be great and have even more room.
#17
The artist alley selection process for this year remains the same. There will be a jury selection process. A quote from one of the Fanime staff:

"We want to let you know we did not pick a jury selection willy nilly, but have put much thought into it. It was based on the reduced number of tables in the room and on general trends in the room."

I second the notion of someone quickly make a website already!!!

Ideas and Suggestions / Re: Winter Fanime.
March 30, 2014, 11:46:39 AM
As mentioned before, if Fanime were to have 2 cons for both summer and winter, the quality would go down. Now if they did this: have Fanime and Clockwork Alchemy separate,  then that will increase the probability of Fanime itself to be more organized. The Funds/Staff/Volunteers will be way more organized and willing to work at what con they want.
