I haven't seen a thread on this (unless I missed it), so I'll be the one to start.
Who are you all interested in seeing at Fanime, and actually have a chance of showing up/performing? (Sorry to break it to some of you, but Malice Mizer already disbanded years ago. And Gackt would be nice, but I highly doubt he'll come to an anime con. He's too renowned for an anime con, he'll probably want his own concert someplace big...)
After seeing ZZ perform, I think a possibility is UVERworld, the band that did one of the opening themes for the anime BLEACH. They're a really new band, and they're not like L'Arc~en~Ciel or a few other bands with a very big name that lowers the possibility of them becoming guests. Although they are new, they're very talented. Their very first single, which is all that's out at the moment, is great and showcases a lot of future talent.
Hopefully, there a chance that the Fanime staff will try and get them to perform next year! They're a really awesome band, and I believe they'll be great guests to have.
Well, there's a general thread for possible guests where people have been suggesting new MusicFest guests:
http://www.fanime.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=3390
yeah larc would be nice
psst KOTOKO psst (sorta) Horie Yui-sama
I'd think Gackt would make our pre-registration -- pre-registration! skyrocket. But yeah, there were plenty of suggestions and boobies in that thread...
how about:
ZZ (they were awesome)
Beat Crusaders
Move
HAL
Puffy (would be cool)
Nami Tamaki
Many others too... just part of my wish list
KOTOKO ( I must reiterate for great justice!)
Lia (Come on)
Little by Little (Not only Naruto's 3rd OP, but Yaki!'s 3rd ED)
Horie Yui (Cause her songs and character roster are growing)
Ramen and Rice (This should be a given :))
The Indigo (Under the blue sky~ hm hm hm hmmm mmm mmm~)
~Chun
horie yui (i like her...)
amano tsukiko (has been grwoing in popularity ever since doing two video game themes, but still seems to be fairly unknown. plus, she rules.)
i second Beat Crusaders. but what bands would really be willing to come to america?
Other than my obvious choices of L'Arc~en~Ciel, Camino, ZZ, Duel Jewel, etc., I would like to throw this idea out there, even if it might be a little weird xD
I would LOVE to see NEWS for MusicFest. I don't usually like groups from Johnny's Jimusho, but for some unknown reason *coughMasudaTakahisacough* I've become attached to them. xD Their songs are very pop, but they're entertaining and catchy xD
And hm...it might be tough to get L'Arc~en~Ciel over, but maybe...we could invite one or two of their solo projects xD I, for one, would LOVE if we could get Yukihiro's solo project, acid android.
How about Daisuke Asakura? Or Kenichi Ito? Or Porno Graffiti?
i still want yoshiki....
but thats like waking up to find that I shit gold i think

an amano tsukiko PV to see if you like her. :) (this one is called "HONEY?") we need her at fanime. ^-^
she is too pretty to pass up. ._.
http://s42.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3MRF63C2MD8OZ31OAICO3VJ37W
another version of the "HONEY?" pv becaesu i was told by someone that the link did not work for them. i have not previewed this one to make sure it works okay, however. (someone else uploaded it- emi-san from the BCL fourms)
I dunno if any of your guys were able to see that Japans Girls Nite last sping/summer with The Pillows but there was some pretty cool bands who come to the states every season from Benten Records (http://www.sister.co.jp/english/index.html) like:
Tsu Shi Ma Mi Re
Titan Go Kings
The Emeralds
Pretty Booka
Bleach
I would also look to see The Noodles, Shonen Knife (which did a tour recently this year), Beat Crusaders, BZs, and of coruse The Pillows.
I still think the name for music fest should be changed to The Greatful Sound (BECK in-joke)! LOL
okay, what i have been doing does not seem to be working. how can i get amano tsukiko to fanime? keep posting about it? contact a staff member about it? contact amano herself?
L'arc-en-ciel
Duel Jewel
Camino
ZZ
Dir en grey
Despirays
Phantasmagoria
Ramen and Rice
Asian Kung fu generation
Orange range
Any of these bands would be nice.
Alice nine. =3 I'd die a euphoric death if I got to see them at least once...
miyavi and TM revolution. ^^
how did i forget Ramen & Rice...and we should invite Akai Sky... www.akaisky.com
I second
UVERworld. According to a Tofu Records interview (http://tofurecords.com/features.php?featureid=0002), they seem really eager to perform in the U.S.
QuoteTofu Records: We heard that, UVERworld, the band name, has a meaning that the band goes over the world and expand further. Do you think that the band will perform in foreign countries in the near future?
Takuya & Katsuya: Yes we would love to.
Tofu Records: Would you give messages to your US fans?
Takuya: I will master English and go to the US to perform live, so please come and see us.
Katsuya: I will make Takuya go to English school starting from tomorrow (laugh). I was moved by the recent live performance of Linkin Park in Japan. We also have great confidence of our live performance, so I want to try it in US.
What about Koda Kumi? Effin Kamikaze Con got her last year. Those bastards.
Quote from: "YoureMyHiro"What about Koda Kumi? Effin Kamikaze Con got her last year. Those bastards.
Dude, I suggested her to Tony, so I hope that we'll be able to get in touch with her. I also want to see her here hehehehe :D
Any chance of any of the Hello! Project?
Oh, and I need to reiterate: BRING THE I'VE SINGERS OVER :DDDD
Go! Go! 7188 would be nice. Larku would be impossible... ditto for Dir en Grey...
Kaleidoscope???
Mika Nakashima??? (If this happens, I'll be her personal servant for the duration of her stay... and longer if she'd like! :) heheheh)
Here's my wish list:
BUCK-TICK (Trinity Blood OP Song)
Janne D' Arc (Blackjack OP Song)
Imai Tsubasa (Capeta OP Song)
Move (if you don't know who they are, FOR SHAME!)
Black Mages (made rock renditions of FF songs)
Uverworld (Bleach OP Song)
Younha (Bleach ED song; Touch Theme Song)
Utada Hikaru (my personal euphoric-death-inducing artist)
I'm most defiantely thinking
Johnny Yong Bosch and his band Eyeshine. Not only has Johnny done amazing voice like Vash on Trigun but hey, he's been my hero ever since he was a power ranger XD...besides he does stay in California! Come on it would be GREAT
http://www.eyeshine.net that's his bands website
To update my single-member list from before:
Alice Nine and Tsukiko Amano. =333 I'd do it it myself if I could become a staffer and try to persuade them all to come over... But I'm only 16 and have parents constantly telling me to stay home (although I don't go anywhere anyways).... So yeah. =x

go 16 year olds (i will be 16 by fanime) that want to become musicfest staff and bring over amano! :D:D wee need to work on this together if we want it to happen! :D
the only thing is, my parents WANT me to be staff so they do nto have to pay con admission for me. XD

That's smart. Yeah... My parents just don't want me to do anything else during the school year besides eat, study, and sleep. They know I'm going to Fanime, but not what I'm doing there. XD So that's the only way I'm getting into the fashion show thingie.
But yes! We must bring Amano over. XDD
well, ryu already suggested her to tony for me, and i sent ryu some samples and i think he sent to tony. now hopefully tony is considering it and it will happen. :D
i love you, ryu. <3

But now that one of my two have been allowed the priveledge to become a "maybe", I will be advocating my other one. XD Alice Nine! Pleeeease? Pretty please? With a banana on top (I don't like cherries. =P). I posted some of their stuff.
*note - Just samples! Delete in 24 hours. (Now no one can sue me. =3)*

I would seriously die if we got Miyavi <3 \:D/ I doubt it will happen though, sadly.
What about DMBQ? Shounen knife would rock too. I would love to see Nami Tamaki, as long as no one overplays hers songs in the covention hall. >_<
I would also love to see ZZ and Camino. Alice Nine would rock.
Koda Kumi.....if we had Miyavi and Koda Kumi I honestly wouldn't know which to hug first.

you know I kinda noticed everyone's suggesting JRockers/Jpoppers I don't see why no one has suggested anyone who isn't of that genre but still does anime songs or has a link to anime.

It wasn't him cancelling. I thought everyone was aware of the e-mail that PSCompany actually said regarding him. And the fact he's not indies anymore is probably going to be hard.
And eh. Not like I don't like how Alice Nine looks, I don't like their sound. :<
(Just like I almost don't like every other PSCompany band because they aren't bands that get contracted -they're individuals that get smooshed together to form a band -kinda like the pop singing groups)
If It's J-rock, can we bring someone from hide's label? I am such a hide lover and as much as I hate female J-rock people I'll take Yukito D:
Well for Duo then: ALI PROJECT :D As much as this thread is turning into a fantasy of J-rock/J-pop concert made true, I still like Ali Project :3

Nope. Never saw it. I guess I'll go try to find something of it... Ah well, everyone has their own music preferences, I suppose. Not forcing anything on anybody (I hope I don't come off like that.) o.o;;
And I haven't heard of Yukito. Is it possible to get some info on her? I Googled it and came up with nothing. =/
Duo: In terms of Anime music preformers? I like the songs Mikuni Shimokawa did for Full Metal Panic. It'd be nice if she was able to come~. =D

This should all be in terms of anime music performers shouldn't it? technically speaking shouldn't they be the first on the list? I mean, afterall, it is an aniem convention- not a Jrock convention.

I suppose. It's just that, to me at least, the recent trend in music preformers seems to be edging towards the entire Japanese music scene, not just people who did songs for anime. But I get where your coming from, and I see how that would be a little troubling in terms of keeping everything anime-related.

You will probably have to google "hide" and "Yukito".

And Duo, the problem you're seeing is probably because there really wasn't a "J-rock con" until this November. :3
People have to rely on some Japanese related con to get J-rockers :3

I regret to inform you that they probably won't make it this year...
I'm beyond heartbroken... they were the first act I contacted...
Not sure if anyone posted this band up, but I only recently discovered this one...
anyone heard of
High and Might Color?
I do believe their music is in Bleach and Gundam? If anyone could verify for me, it'd be much appreciated. ^_^
But anyways, from listening to some of their music, they pretty much rock in my opinion. :)
[ and no Ramen and Rice??! F;KLJA;SKLDJ NOOOOO! *freaking spazzes and dies* ]
:3 try and get onmyouza they did some songs for the anime BASLISK
Here is the english version of their website:
http://www.onmyo-za.net/eng/index.html
*o* i love kuroneko she has a lovely voice
If we got Orange Range, I would die a happy girl.
They've done songs for naruto and bleach (possibly some other ones too, but those are the ones I know off the top of my head)
I wouldn't mind Kimeru, but he has his tour in Japan during Fanime..... *sobs in dark corner*
Orange Range would be fun. It would bring people to hear their music since their CD just released.
TM Revolution has a similar sound to Kimeru, so I would love him to come!
Onmyo-ZA!!!!
Hmm... How about Tommy Heavenly6, her alter ego Tommy February6 or her band the Brilliant Green?
The Kaleidoscope??? Please?

Definitely want Tommy Heavenly6; especially after I listened to her cd yesterday.
Elaborating from my guest suggestion post:
I second:
Shimokawa Mikuni - Beautiful voice.
UVERworld - Very awesome indeed.
All of I've. :D Gotta love that trance pop.
Wouldn't Horie be too much to ask? ^^;
My requests:
YUI - Sung the 5th ED song of Bleach with her single - Life. Maybe she might want to do some promotion for her latest single - Tokyo. She's a really promising young singer. ^-^
Hashimoto Miyuki - I first heard her in Final Approach's ED song - Love, Fate, Love. She did SHUFFLE!'s ED song - innocence. :3
YURIA - Sung SHUFFLE!'s OP song - YOU. More of that trance pop goodness.
Round Table & Nino - Round Table's music goes so well with Rino's lovely voice.
I think it'd be cool if we could get Dir en Grey... Maybe we have more of a chance now that they're playing at SXSW in Texas^^

All your suggestions Rock. However folks, getting contacts and getting the money to bring out a group like Dir en Grey and Kotoko is not easy.
Our announcement about Music fest is forth coming. I am hoping you will find it as exciting as we do.
Stay Tuned!
How exciting! I am very, very looking forward to the news. Please tell us soon~
^ ^ yes yes do tell so i can jump arround in ecstasy <3
I wanna know now D:
tell tell tell!
it makes all the difference in which con I decide to go to....
I can only attend one....
and Need to start booking airfare soon!
Former bands/singers that have come to the US that I enjoy are:
Duel Jewel
Nami Tamaki
Camino
T.M. Revolution
D'spairs Ray
Megumi Hayashibara
All of these were fun and I think most of these are realistic to have return to the U.S.
Other than that I'd love to see Utada Hikaru, or more J-rock bands!
 I was going to reply, but it's already been decided! Oops, too late! I was going to whine for An cafe and Alice Nine, but that's okay, I'll just wait for the announcement!
cant wait for the announcement! *crosses her fingers and hopes for amano*
May I suggest some bands.
How about Phantasmagoria? They've been to the US before or maybe former PLC members Aya and seek? Also another one is 'Clavier', who are still pretty new in the music industry.
This is on the front page! I wonder who it is going to be! I tried a web search on google but I came up with nothing. :( Anyone find anything out!?

MusicFest - FanimeCon's annual live music event - is exploding this year with a ton of new bands fresh from Japan and the U.S. We're changing gears this year and going to the Japanese underground music scene to bring you the best, cutting-edge music around.
We've signed the papers, bought the plane tickets, and prepped the stage. Stay tuned for more details on just who will be appearing and when!

A part of me hopes it's not VK...mainly for the reason that JRock is a such a huge genre, but it seems that a majority of the audience in the US likes to concentrate mostly on VK, probably one of the smallest subgenres of JRock out there. It would be nice to expose people to other kinds of Jrock...
Like...if you got to http://www.sound-tv.net you can totally see that there are a TON of different kinds of indie jrock bands who don't fall under VK...it would be nice to have audiences in the US more aware of that ^^;;
But yeah, I can't wait to find out who the bands are. Even though I can't make it this year ;___; *will be stuck in the Philippines for the whole month of May D: *
After alot of searching on google I found this on a band called Guitar Vader's webpage. I guess they were in some videogame and some anime's in Japan. Anyone heard of them? I listen to their samples. They sound pretty cool.

Guitar Vader
They have a myspace page. Alot of stuff comes up when I search their name. Looks like they are pretty popular. I wonder who else is coming?

normally music fest is one day =\ unless they are gonna be guest talking the other two days I assume its a tour of sorts.
*crosses fingers for Plastic Tree or An Cafe or onmyo-za* D: <3333
by the way. isnt VK a style where the costumes ect reflect the music, like what malice mizer did and stuff. J-rock is a various genre and I would love to see an update on the music fest people >O <3

Quote from: "Jrockfan"After alot of searching on google I found this on a band called Guitar Vader's webpage. I guess they were in some videogame and some anime's in Japan. Anyone heard of them? I listen to their samples. They sound pretty cool.

That's right guys!
Guitar Vader will be appearing at the San Jose Fanime convention MusicFest from May 26th to the 28th. We hope to see alot of our fans there! Spread the word!
Guitar Vader
One band down, five more to go.
Hm...
I think I want to challenge you guys to find out our other five bands. No prize for this, other than bragging rights for finding them first!
Clue #1
The last five are 4 jrock bands, 1 pop group.
Clue #2
Tomorrow
Quote from: "Kazuko"normally music fest is one day =\ unless they are gonna be guest talking the other two days I assume its a tour of sorts.
Fanime will be the first convention (other than J-rock Con) to bring out this many music guests from Japan, where it will be their FIRST TIME IN AMERICA. You think we'd leave you hanging with just Music Fest? Would we be that mean?

Not necessarily.... 8)

Puwahahaha, found another one for the group POPLAR!!!!
http://peoplesrecords.net/POPLAR/index_fix.html
If you go to the LIVE page it roughly translates (sorry my Japanese is kinda horrible...):
Quote
May 26 (FRI) ~ 29 (SUN) - US West Coast Tour [Fanimecon Festival]
Simultaneously, a scheduled performance at a San Francisco club.
OMG, I'm so bad at kanji o_o;;;
I'm not a big hip hop fan but I've never seen Japanese hip hop before. I'm looking forward to it!!!! :D
http://www.yesjapan.com/poplar/
Wonders what the Myspace realm holds:
Swinging Popsicle
However, I couldn't find any info on this one, sadly. :( Anyone have any?

Band #3! They're slightly on the Pop side of the house, but they remind me of Sixpence None the Richer..
Clue for the next three:
#4 -- Rock group. They did some of the soundtrack for an anime that rocks and is not currently liscenced.. Out of the six, this is the one I'm most excited about!
#5 Pop Group -- Two girls named Ai
#6 Rock Group -- They're part of a genre that I think is called No Katakana, meaning that all of their lyrics are in kanji and hiragana (aka no foreign words).
this means no amano. ;-; ah well~ *skips off and gets on with the rest of her life*
*returns and stabs someone*
well, i cannot wait to find out who it is, anyway! :D
I feel very tempted to "guess" but it wouldn't be fun. Anyways, I am excited about the bands coming this year as well. No doubt it'll be an awesome show. I think everyone's gonna have something they like.
It seems that the band has appeared in "BECK" in Japan. The anime. Found some Swinging Popsicle samples here. These guys must be pretty big becasue if you search for them they come up everywhere.
http://www.yesjapan.com/popsicle/
:D
Ooops. I meant that Guitar Vader appeared in "BECK" not Swinging popsicle.

Whoo hoo~!! Thanks :D
And I foundthe other 3, but I think I'll let everyone else guess, since it was pretty fun to search for them.
lol it's so easy to find the bands if you search for it. But yeah, I know all six bands, but I won't ruin it for other people, unless you want me to, I'll PM you.
The #4 band I'm excited about did music for Beck... Guitar Vader did one song, but they're more known for being a part of the Jet Set Radio soundtrack as well as a couple of other sony things...
But... There is one site where you can find info/samples of all the bands.. All six are on the same record label in Japan ^_^
Is http://www.japanfiles.com the record label? I found all of the bands on there. Listening to the samples I would say that the concert this year will be higher quality than last years. I'm not bashing Ramen and Rice but it's nice to see more ACTUAL bands this time around. Of course I haven't seen any of these bands live so I don't know. I'm looking forward to seeing Guitar Vader now though. Good work FANIME! :D :D :D

I think that's it. And I'm loving this year's line-up. :D The samples were great~.
The record label in Japan is called People's Records. Here in the US the label is represented by Yes Japan and Japan files.
So who's got my 4-6? ^_^

I am posting sort of a correction as I am involved with the music fest this year. People's Records is only ONE of the bands labels. And that band is Poplar. Swinging Popsicle is on another label. And since not all the bands have been figured out I will say that more than half the other bands are independent.
And also 2 of the bands have had music on Beck. I have seen all the bands live other than Swinging Popsicle and they all kick major ass live. So this years music fest will certainly be awesome and you DO NOT want to miss it!!

Woo Hoo Beck bands.. Sorry, I really loved Beck and the music. Please say that Beat Crusaders will be there. If you do, I think I'll have a ton of friends that might come out just to see them :P

Heh it is probally too late to ask, but I wonder if The Noodles could make it to fanime this year?
My ultimate musical fantasy would be to bring Jenny ROM (Italy), John Desire (Japan), and/or DoCo(Japan), provided they're still around. If not...
...WHY HLO THAR COVER BANDS! Just kidding. :P
