I didn't think I would say that AX was better than Fanime, but the ticketing system as mentioned is one way to avoid the mass crowding, controlled rush, and stress and frustration for staff and attendees, especially people getting cut from Hirano's line for 2 days. Fortunately no one got injured.

If Fanime doesn't want to invest in the staff and costs to print and distribute tickets, just go back to the old system and let people line up in a room beforehand so it's first come first served if that's the way they want to spend their con and aren't in danger of blocking any accessways.

For attendees, are badges not needed to get into swap meet for Thursday night only?

One of the seiyu last year, can't remember who, had posters of an anime play he was in. This is very rare though so be prepared to bring something in. If you can't find anything at all, they will sign the program.

The Japanese guests will be used to seeing shikishi boards, which are good for stylized autographs and sketches. Non-Japanese guests won't be familiar with them but you can ask them to sign big or fill up the board.

More than a month after the con, but I was expecting a general feedback form to be posted this year after what went down last year. However all I've seen so far is specific feedback threads by department/event and my feedback is more general.

^That would normally be me too, but I went overboard this year, particularly in AA, which, believe it or not, I have never bought from before or seriously spent time in. Now how to store all those prints, since they won't be up on my walls. :P I only bought food twice and got by on granola bars and fruit otherwise. ;D

^It's on their FB: https://ja-jp.facebook.com/HomeMadeKazokuOfficial/photos/a.585432268181748.1073741825.263203437071301/732379260153714/?type=1&theater

I have never been to Music Fest previously (not even when Flow showed up), so this was my first one and I had a blast. Sat up in the middle balcony and wished I was on the lower level since I was dancing in my seat and singing along, especially for the anime tracks which I knew (Shounen Heart, Freedom, Thank You), although the balcony also tends to be more subdued than the lower level. Stuck around for the encore when HMKU performed Thank You - so worth it and for all the people who didn't keep the faith and left early, too bad! :P

Cut and cancelled are two different things. A few dozen people lined up for Tatum's Sunday signing early, at least 2 hours before IIRC. I was in line for the signing session before his and heard rovers announcing that they could take 2 more for Tatum, then one more before they cut the line, don't remember what time this was. It's after the fact but you needed to have shown up for both of his signings early to ensure that you were getting an autograph. Tatum had very high demand and an hour was not have been enough to accommodate everyone especially on Saturday, hence the necessary line control on Sunday.

I am happy that Fanime landed Home Made but am also waiting for more seiyu and/or industry guests from Japan to be announced.

Maybe Fanime's wishlist went across the country to this other con on the East Coast also happening at the same time. :-\

Forgot about him since he wasn't a guest this year. ??? But he did some other non-H work also. I guess I meant someone who was an H specialist.

I live within driving distance. I had sandwiches for lunch and muffins for dinner, with bananas and granola bars to supplement. Otherwise I hit up McDonald's a couple times for the $1 menu. More money for other things.

Someone connected or previously connected with Gainax other than Hiroyuki Yamaga. Sadamoto would be off the chart but other than Hideaki Anno who I doubt would come, I'm open. Also the guys who left and founded Trigger.

I was wondering too, has Fanime ever had eroge or hentai manga/anime staff show up? E.g. Toshio Maeda last year was at Big Wow the week before at the SJCC and later showed up at AX.

I would be curious to know if you have any Eva stuff that you are planning to part with. If not, no worries.

Dealers Room / Re: What do you want to see?

I think it would be cool if J-List would show up but their US office is in San Diego and from what I have seen they hit up the big cons that are not too far from that area (AX and SDCC), although this year they also went to Arizona.

As for products, I would say more shitajiki although that is very niche, less than a handful of vendors tend to stock them.

I am curious, but not seeing anything under your ebay ID.

I don't drink boba. :P I'd be happier knowing that you put our suggestions into practice and that they paid off. ;)

Simple, plan and save. E.g. I put aside $X from every paycheck towards my Fanime fund with a target goal of Y and don't touch it. Have an idea of what I want to buy and always keep in mind that I can either walk away or find the item (s) online. I don't need it right then and there and if the dealer refuses to move on price, their loss. Save money elsewhere during the con, especially on food and drink, by bringing as much of my own food as I can and carrying a water bottle. Spend $2 at McDonald's for meals by getting two $1 menu sandwiches and not combo meals since I stopped drinking soda anyway. Honestly none of this hard to do when one practices discipline and sets priorities.

If the prior masquerade team returns, I believe there will be a turnaround.

Last year's winners were posted on May 29, the Tuesday right after the con ended.

This year? ??? The lack of an announcement nearly 2 weeks later speaks for itself. Glad to see that ACP is on top of things.

Since people are including costs of necessities, mine are:

$37.13 - gas
$7.62 - food

Total: $44.75

Grand total for the whole con: $330. $50 pre-reg for '14, technically making that a cost for next year.

I live close enough to drive down. Saved money on food by eating only McDonald's $1 menu for dinner with large Costco muffins (which are quite filling) and bananas for lunch.

No announcements or threads that I've seen unless I missed it somewhere. A full list of all the participants would also be appreciated.
