Panels and Workshops / Con Survival, Cosplayer Style
April 06, 2011, 10:28:41 PM
We've all heard of Con Survival panels. Most of us have even attended them. But there is always something missing. Something... big. And that is the cosplayer perspective. Con Survival, Cosplayer Style will focus on how to get through a con while juggling a bunch of cosplays, photoshoots, and groups. We'll cover everything from how to organize your cosplays in your suitcase, to how to get wigs to a con without destroying those precious spikes, to how to get quality photographers and set up photoshoots. Questions will be taken from the audience during the last 15 minutes.

Now the question of the moments is... what else would you like us to cover in the panel? Anything from specific questions, to broad topics. Let me know what you guys would like to hear!

That's right! The D.Gray Man 2011 gathering is HERE! I've been wanting to host a gathering, and I figured this was perfect. My group and I will be cosplaying D.Gray Man characters for this gathering as well.

I'm hoping we can play a game or two, but that depends on how many people come and how much time we end up having. We can decide that when Fanime gets closer. For the moment, let me know who you'll be cosplaying for the gathering so I can mark you down, and feel free to post any ideas.

Panels and Workshops / The World of Yaoi Panel
April 21, 2010, 03:20:37 PM
We present, the anything and everything Yaoi Panel! 18+, sorry kiddies.

The first half of the panel, we'll talk about some of the popular, as well as hidden gems of the Yaoi Manga-Verse. And we'll touch a little on Yaoi fandoms from otherwise unsuspecting non-yaoi Manga as well. So a little something for everyone.

And the second half of the panel will be almost like a discussion forum. The audience will be welcome to ask questions and start discussion topics, and everyone is encouraged to participate and give their opinions.

So come on down to The World of Yaoi panel at MIDNIGHT @ Panels Room 2. Remember, 18+ only. So ID's WILL be checked prior to you being allowed inside the room.

-Now it's your turn to tell us what you want. Are there any particular Yaoi Anime/Manga you want us to cover? Have something else you think might be interesting for us to do at our panel? Let us know by replying below.

Panels and Workshops / Intro to Anime Musicals Panel
April 21, 2010, 03:09:00 PM
That's riiiiiiiiiiiight! I'm curious how many of you knew that there are Anime Musicals that have been occurring for longer than a decade in Japan? And best of all, these musicals ceom from some of the most popular anime! For example, there's Sailor Moon's SeraMyu, and Prince of Tennis's TeniMyu. And did I mention the Bleach Rock Musical from the cast of BleachMyu? Here's one you probably wouldn't expect... A Kuroshitsuji Musical! And what can be cooler than AirMyu, the Air Gear musical done entirely on ROLLER BLADES! And that's just a few to get you started.

So this panel will introduce you to a lot of the anime musicals out there, as well as some of the major stars. Here's a little interesting fact! The majority of the second cast of the TeniMyu musicals were the same ones who played the Prince of Tennis characters in the live action movie.

The world of anime musicals is dramatic, colorful, and often times completely and utterly random and hilarious. And this panel will let you take a look inside all the madness.

And even better? We'll have some live performances! We'll play the music and videos from some of the most well known songs form these musicals, and there will be cosplayers dancing for you! And best of all? If you know the song, you're welcome to join in!

We'll even teach you a short dance from the Bleach Rock Musical.

So this is one you REALLY don't want to miss!

Monday at 1pm @ Panels Room 1.

-Hey! Do you and some friends want to perform one of the songs from an anime musical? Let me know! I'd love to have more people dancing along to the clips, and if you have a few people willing to dance, I'll make sure to add that song to our line-up. Comment below.

-Also, aside form the musicals mentioned above, are there other anime musicals you'd like to see us talk about? Let us know in a reply!

Let the show begin!

How much does a weekend badge cost if you were to buy it at-con? I might just be blind, but I can't find that information ANYWHERE. Thanks.

Panels and Workshops / A Cosplay Just For You Panel
April 28, 2009, 11:24:32 PM
Name: A Cosplay Just for You
Time: Sunday, 5pm-6pm
Location: Mariott Hotel, Salon I and II

*Be aware that I'm not sure if this time/place is finalized. It may change. If it does, I'll let you know. I have no idea what goes on in the minds of the panel Gods.*

This panel will consist of two parts. During part one, I will talk about how to pick the cosplay most suited for you. Not just by how you look, but by what you wnat in a cosplay. Is looking like the character more important? Or is having their attitude? Perhaps you wnats to cosplay a character that will recieve many glomps, or perhaps one that gets none. What's more important to you, comfort or accuracy? Cute or Scary? When you leave the panel, no doubt you'll be eager to start your search for the perfect cosplay. This panel is great both for those new to the cosplay world, and those that are seasoned cosplayers. Part two will be a little more fun. I'll ask people to stand up and tell me in a few sentences what they want in a cosplay character. Then, I'll go through my hundreds of pictures on my laptop, and give each person who asks a few suggestions.

Anyone have any questions/comments/suggestions? If you plan on going, post here so I have a small idea of how many people I should expect.

Thanks everyone!

Panels and Workshops / Genres of Anime Panel
April 28, 2009, 11:21:34 PM
Name: Genres of Anime
Time: Monday, 1pm-2pm
Location: Mariott Hotel, Salon III

*Be aware that I'm not sure if this time/place is finalized. It may change. If it does, I'll let you know. I have no idea what goes on in the minds of the panel Gods.*

This is actually a panel my friend wants to run, but I'm going to be her helper. Since I don't believe she has a forum account, I'm the one posting this. We'll show you all the different Genres of anime, and give you a few examples. If you're unsure what kind of Anime someone would like, come to this panel! Also, have you ever wanted to get your parents into anime? I know I sure did! So we'll be giving you some advice on a few great anime series that might get your parents interested. Or your friends. Or your siblings. Or just about anyone. We'll cover as many genres as we can in a one hour period. This panel is on Monday, and there's not much to do on Monday, but come to our panel, we'll make your day more fun! (I might have a little quiz at the end of the panel based on what was covered, and there will be prizes! That is just a maybe though, gotta ask my friend who's in charge of this one.

Anyone have any questions/comments/suggestions? If you plan on going, post here so I have a small idea of how many people I should expect.

Thanks everyone!

Name: The Art of the Masquerade
Time: Friday, 6pm-7pm
Location: Mariott Hotel, Salon III

*Be aware that I'm not sure if this time/place is finalized. It may change. If it does, I'll let you know. I have no idea what goes on in the minds of the panel Gods.*

I'll be talking about how to make a successful masquerade skit. Is music a good idea? The ups and downs of pre-recording? Little ways to make your skit so much more impressive? I've got it all. I'll also talk about what NOT to do at masquerades. And of course, I'll spend some time talking about how to come up with a skit in 30 minutes. I tend to be good at that, so hopefully I can show some other people the tricks of the trade. I'll also talk about different types of awards, and what your skit should contain based on which award you're aiming for. Not everyone can grab the Best in Show spot, but with a few tips, anyone can snatch up a lower prize. There will be a question and answer period at the end too.

Anyone have any questions/comments/suggestions? If you plan on going, post here so I have a small idea of how many people I should expect.

Thanks everyone!

Staff & Volunteers / Question about staff meetings.
April 05, 2009, 10:02:43 PM
This may seem like a silly question, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask, especially if it means I might be able to be a staff member. I live in Walnut Creek, therefore attending the meetings in San Jose is almost impossible for me since I do not drive. Is it possible to be a staff member if I cannot attend the staff meetings? Or if perhaps, I can attend only one meeting? Thank you in advance for any helpful answers!
