Messages - Oathkeeper

Fanime will be taking group pictures during the Gathering this year. If you do not want to be included in those pictures please step aside for those photos. By remaining with the group when the pictures are being taken you give your consent to be photographed.

So I didn't see one of these up - and I was quite appalled actually!
I was part of the FFVIII gathering last year, and I had an absolute blast! ^_^

Anyone want to come out this year?
Any ideas for fun activities/photo ops?
Suggested time/day?

Day: Saturday
Meeting Place: Fountains - Hilton side
Time: 12:30 pm

PEOPLE COUNT! (from Fanime.com forums & C.com forums): 6+

"UMAI_Oathkeeper" - (SeeD Ball) Rinoa
"Chimera" - (SeeD Ball) Squall
"pinkcatmints" - (SeeD) Selphie
"senritsu" - Seifer
"Kagato" - Seifer
"NamineGhostGirl" - Fujin

+2 (from special source)

I didn't really want to post this on here so that people couldn't figure out our theme.
But, nonetheless I am here.

I am known as Oathkeeper to those who know me well. I am the writer of Candy Mountain Cosplay's "Riku's Journey to Candy Mountain," and I used to be a member of CMC until about two months ago. I performed the "too sexy" skit with them this year as well.
I have been known for writing original skits, and coming up with some of the best skits for smaller cons (considering those are the ones I attend most often). I have won two awards for most original/best performance, one judge's award for costumes, and tons of recognition via YouTube and word of mouth due to "Riku's Journey to Candy Mountain". For Fanime 2009, however, I have planned something completely different, and completely awesome.

I have helped my friends start a new cosplay group comprised of mostly people from the Sac Anime forums. We all live in the general NorCal area, and we are looking for two people to join us for our masquerade performance for Fanime 2009. The only requirement outside of costume-making and learning stuff on your own is being available for the rehearsal in December 2008. It will most likely be on the 28th or 29th of December, in the Sacramento area.
We are cosplaying from Vampire Knight.
Our entire skit is completely scripted and choreographed, with prelim sound recorded.

We are seeking two specific characters: Ichiru Kiryuu (mask/trenchcoat variant) and Zero Kiryuu (day class variant).
I am looking for people who are between 5'7" and 6'0". This is not to be prejudiced against people of other heights, but I'm a super OCD cosplayer and the rest of the "male" cosplayers from our group (including girls crossplaying as males) all fit between these heights. It also has to do with choreography and how it will look on stage.

I really have confidence in this group considering we are so prepared and the plot is genius!
If you are interested in joining this group for something that will be an amazing masquerade experience, please... reply!

Hey guys... i checked out a sunrise/sunset/moonrise/moonset calendar.

on May 23 & 24, 2009, the sun should be setting at/around/very near to 8:15pm.

/shrugs

well.. now you know!
(p.s. it will also be a NEW moon... sadly. I was hoping for a full moon. =/ But hey, it means we'll get to see stars, right?)

A twilight gathering would be cool (as in, before dusk.) If the gathering started while it was still light out and continued into the darkness, you could even do small photoshoots of the night class students going to class amidst the day class girls. XD

But as far as day goes, Saturday or Sunday, preferably NOT the day of the masquerade (our group will be performing).

Location... location... location.
I do like the park idea. The small courtyard behind the mission-style building across the street (whose name I can't remember). The hotel is nice, but the lighting kinda sucks. its all warm light and makes for really orange-ish tinted pictures (unless you can work the camera right). ;)
it just depends on what you want.

Oh, and I made a mistake on telling you whom was in our group. >_<
Chimera will be Ichijou,
and Fuekun will be Kain.
Sorry about that.

I know alot of people will disagree with me on this (and i guess thats kinda the point of this thread) but I honestly got up and walked out of the mascaraed with all of my friends after about the 8th or 9th group.  I'm tired of mascaraed shows that are based around inside jokes that you HAVE to be OBSESSED with the certain show to understand and find funny.  I laughed at ONE joke the entire time i was there, aside from that one joke i sat there confused doing my best to understand what was so damn funny.  Please for the love of god, come up with a mascaraed skit that most people (if not everyone) can benefit from.  In all honesty i saw my attendance (or rather what i did attend) of the 2008 Mascaraed to be a waste of my time.

I am sad you didn't attend the whole thing. The group I am in (Candy Mountain Cosplay) performed last...

no real inside jokes thar... anyway...

I'm planning for next year. Maybe you'll enjoy! I hope so!

Hey all!~

So I'm planning a photoshoot for next year, and I need some reference pics of the area, specifically the courtyard by the Civic auditorium. I know there are some nice lights there, columns, etc. Anyone have any pics of that area?

Thanks ahead of time! I can't find any pics of that space, so it would be awesome if you posted some links to me!

just checking to make sure we will get our pictures sometime? the photographer said probably by the Friday after con, and its been two weeks now. :(

anyway, I just really would love to see the pics. =D

mmm....but only accept ballots from people who are leaving after the last skit...

because otherwise you'll have people getting voted for...and then the audience leaving halfway through (like what happened this year). That was awfully disheartening for our group, who was the last to perform. We only have 1/3 the audience that was there to begin with. :(

I agree there should be some sort of a people's choice award...but in that case...how do you figure out who wins? Paper ballotts? Volume of screams?? XP

I was the Sora in the Candy Mountain Cosplay "Im too Sexy" skit. Hope you guys enjoyed it! We had a blast!!!

Aaaah this year was definitely a mix, and for me it wasn't as fun as 2007...but that's all things considered. I will most likely attend next year if things work out. ^_^

Pros:

~finishing all four costumes in five days, and doing them WELL
~Getting SO MANY pictures taken of me and my boyfriend as Lenne and Shuyin and Rinoa and Squall.
~Learning how to dance...waltz and swing.
~Learning the dance to "Waltz for the Moon", and doing the dance during the song at the Black and White Ball while dressed as Rinoa and Squall in their SeeD Ball attire
~The FFVIII gathering
~Performing our skit at the masquerade. I'm glad to see it was so well received! ^_^ (I am a member of Candy Mountain Cosplay, the KH "I'm too sexy" skit)
~Hanging out with my friends
~finally meeting Crystalike

Cons:

~Overloading myself with four costumes to complete in five days
~having my glue gun stolen while working on last minute cosplay
~having my camera stolen while people were taking pictures of me and my boyfriend
~my boyfriend's prescription glasses were stolen off of the chair in front of him in an anime viewing room. NOT COOL.
~trying to organize, schedule, and perform with an ensemble. NOT A GOOD IDEA. I way overloaded my con time.
~only having time to look in the art and dealer's room once the entire con.
~Getting a parking ticket
~driving down a sidewalk on accident
~losing my Sora gloves
~the Hare Hare Yukai and the Caramelldansen sooo many times. Though I know its not anyone's fault
~even more than that, though: PEOPLE LEAVING THE MASQUERADE BECAUSE OF ALL OF THOSE DANCES. Our group, Candy Mountain Cosplay, was the last to perform, and we only had 1/3 of the crowd that was there to begin with.

Yeah....like i said, it was definitely a mix. Though I will probably be coming back, if not to perform another skit next year. I'll start the writing verrrrry soon. Candy Mountain Cosplay will return!!!

Hey all! I hope everyone had a great time at con! I had a blast! ^_^

Did anyone take pics of us?

Cosplay group #46, Candy Mountain Cosplay and the KH2 "I'm too sexy" skit?

SeeD Ball Rinoa and Squall (from FFVIII). Also did anyone get video of us dancing the "Waltz for the Moon" at the B&W ball or otherwise?

Shuyin and Lenne from FFX-2.

Thanks so much ahead of time! My camera was stolen so i don't have any pictures of the con. :(

I didn't get a video, but I took some paparazzi shots of you guys. They're not too great a quality, but here are the ones with you in them (at least I hope it's you).

Yeah...
While me and my friend were working on cosplay, our gluegun was stolen from a nearby table (that we could see). And while we were having pics taken of us, our camera was stolen (we put it on the ground to take a more accurate pic).

And...the most disturbing of all...
me and my friend fell asleep in one of the anime viewing rooms on accident and he took off his glasses and put them on the chair in front of him. When we both woke up about 10 minutes later to leave, his glasses were no longer on the chair. The thing is...these weren't just reading glasses or sunglasses. They were his prescription glasses for his horrendous vision. DX
So, unless someone popped out the lenses, they would be useless to anyone who didn't have the SAME EXACT prescription.

I was absolutely appalled at the amount of stuff that was stolen over the weekend. Especially because we checked the lost and found with conops mutliple times.

I was almost tempted to say that I will not be attending Fanime again. I had near $60 of stuff stolen from me...and a very expensive pair of glasses stolen from my friend. NOT COOL.
