hey its the brain age guy! you are attending fanime again this year?

are you the host of the tournament and will there be a prize or recognition somehow for teh winner this year? do you just sign up at con or through fb???
Of course I am attending or else I wouldn't be hosting these tournaments officially.  There's always prizes for the top 2 players and you still need to purchase your badge to enter any tournaments.

I couldn't find anything by search and the site wasn't super helpful except for applying to work in the Arcade.

I'm looking to talk to the person or people in charge of the Arcade for the purposes of bringing some music game setups to the Arcade. Possibly Stage Zero as well if the interest was there.

Thanks!
I already got you covered.

Hi!  This is Craig from Console Gaming staff!  I'm doing a brand new event for FanimeCon's Console Gaming called Demo Dojo Showcase!  It's an event during a con where we showcase a lots of different games within 3 hours and anyone are welcome to try them out.  Right now I'm looking for attendees who has very interesting game to show off!  I'm looking for something wacky like "Muscle March"!  Very obscure like "Slap Happy Rhythm Buster"!  It also can be awful like "Shaq Fu"!  We would love to see other attendee's diverse game taste and share it with many people as possible!  This is the best chance for you to actually "use your own game and console"  for the event.  If you like to join, at least post 2 games at this thread that you "physically own" that you like to showcase and I'll ask for your info by PM.

Q&A

How long can I show each of my game?
For now we will only be showcasing 30 minutes each.

Are there any restriction on what games we're aloud to bring?
Yes for legal reason.  If you don't carry a physical copy or any burned copy games.  We will deny you.  No emulators, Simulator games, Stepmania, Mugen, etc.

Are their a genre we can't submit to showcase?
As much as I like to put as much game as possible.  There's a limit.  I also shouldn't suggest having RPG games as part of your submission here because it takes a long time to go through the game and doesn't involve or interact other players.

How appropriate the game has to be?
And the game has to be no more than M rated.  No adult rated nor Hentai games.  Depending on the game might be used at a later night slot.

Are you going to be watching over my game and console?
We will watch over your game and console. But please be present at your station at all times unless you need to have someone from staff watch over your stuff for couple minutes (like restroom break).  However you are fully responsible for what happens to your game, controller, and console during the showcase (For example if it's gets damaged, lost, or stolen).   We might also have you sign a waiver before showcasing your game.

If my game is approved, do I still need a badge to get in the Gaming Hall?
Yes.  You still need a badge to participate.

If I just want to stop by and try out other people's game?  What day is it on?  What time does it start?
It actually happens every day.  But for the time is TBD.

If you got any more question just send me a PM.  And I can try my best to answer your question of if it's okay.

This sounds really fun. Would Brawl be 1v1 or FFA? Which Street Fighter?

You should have people play an awesome/random game like Windjammers for the Neo Geo or Tony Hawk's Pro Skater on a DDR pad!
It's a secret my friend!  But however I can tell you it's no traditional Brawl game.

Mystery Game #1

Mystery Game #2

Q&A

How does the event work?

Well basically it's a contest that all you have to do is play and set the best record within 3 hours! If you manage to set the record and keep it until the event is over, you win the prize!

Do I have to sign up early to sign up for this tournament?

No you don't have to. Anyone can showup and play to give it a shot. If the game gets crowded I will do a sign up sheet to actually have people taking turns (you also need to let people who haven't tried play). The only time I need your info if you have manage to set the records.

Who do I report to claim that I set the record?

I'll introduce myself at beginning of the contest. But if you showed up later or just last minute. Just find the available staff watching over the stations and make sure the score is visible for us to confirm that you set the record. Then we put your name on our special board.

Are their a limit in how many games I can enter and set records?

There is no limit. You can enter all the games you like. You can try and attempt to set the record on all the games you like. The more you're good at, the more prize you can earn on each game. That's a total of 6 prizes!

How many tries am I aloud to do in one game?

Depending on the game.  You're try as many as you like until you're satisfied on games with your score.   But remember, you have to let other people try it too.  For example, Nintendo World Championship takes a long time that it's preferred that you let other play next.

Do I have to stick around the whole 3 hours?

You don't have to unless you really want to (just sticking around to set records). If you already set up your own record. You're welcome to take a break anytime. But remember, you still need to check later to make sure no one breaks your record so you'll have enough time to keep yours safe.

Are their a 2nd place prize for each game?

Nope. Only one prize for each game.

If I do win. How do I claim my prize?

If you do win. I want you to be present at the close to the end of the contest to claim your prize.

We will update more info for this contest!

Ready for a good challenge?  Try out the Gamer Royale tournament!  Players will test their skills by playing different games in each round. Each round varies until conditions are met. So be prepared! You're gonna need all the skill, knowledge, and luck to win this one! There are 5 games total that must be overcome! Here are the following games:

Round 1: Super Smash Bros Brawl
Round 2: Card Captor Sakura Tetris
Round 3: Street Fighter
Round 4: Mystery Game #1
Round 5: Mystery Game #2

How it's played?
I can only give you limited info regarding the rules and how it's setup. Let's use an example from last year's Gamer's Royale so you can get a better idea how it works: First round was Super Mario Bros 1-1 speedrun. Just go finish the level as fast as you can! Second round was Tetris Attack that all you have to do is beat your opponent. Don't expect that it will go as accordingly to plan that the game might be used against you. For example, thinking that you're going to play Tetris against people normally but at the end you're force to use the Wii Balance Board and try to get the most lines. Expect some bad curveball thrown at you!

Is it worth entering?
Heck yes! For all that struggle you had to go through prizes are worth entering! Our last year winner gets to attend Fanime this year for free. Will you be the next winner?

Runnerup Prize: $20 Gift card
Grand Prize: Attend FanimeCon 2015 for free!

When? Day 2 @ 2pm

Even if you don't participate it's worth checking out for the entertainment!  Do you think what it takes to be the best all around gamer of Fanime?

Tetris Tournament is back! This time we're trying out other different Tetris Games! Instead of playing just one Tetris game how about 5 different Tetris games! Each round will be a different Tetris Game. Here's the following games:

Round 1: Qualifiers
Tetris (NES)
Type B Level 5

Each player will try to make the best score as possible before clearing 25 lines regardless of whether you clear 25 lines or you fail.  I will give you another try if you fail at your first try.  Depending on the participant  top 16 will advance to the next round.

Round 2:
Tetris Party (Nintendo Wii)
multiplayer vs.

Players will be arrange to play against each other from different group. Players will be determine based on who placed pretty high on each match. No item will be used in this round and all will be done in one match.  The top 8 players will advance to the next round.

Round 3:
Tetris Battle Gaiden (Super Famicom)
2 player mode no counters/powerup

You will face 1 on 1 against each other in traditional Tetris. The only difference in this round is you are sharing a next pattern block. So if you want a straight line block for example, it's "first comes first served". To win you have to outsmart your opponent! Top 4 will advance to the next round.

Semi Finals:
Tetris Worlds (PS2)
2 player vs. round

Get the most line as possible within 2 minutes.

Finals:
Mystery Round
Mystery Tetris Game

It's a secret if you can make it this far!

Do you think you're a true Tetris master?

When? Day 1 @ 6pm

So, if I remember correctly, if you bring your own TV and such, they'll plug you in there, correct? At least, I recall seeing that happen before. If that's the case, I'd be more than willing to work with some of you guys to get an unofficial Storm 3 and PS-All Stars tournament going? I have both games with all DLC except Zeus and Isaac.
I like to inform you that you are not allowed to set up your own TV and your console in the Gaming Hall and you have to do it elsewhere.

We like to announce a very unique tournament that's very different from other related Tetris tournaments.  Instead of playing just one Tetris game how about 5 different Tetris games!  Each round is a different Tetris Game.  Here's the following games:

Versus Round 1: Tetris Party  (Nintendo Wii)
4 player battle
Rules: Depending on how many participants.  Players will be arrange to play against each other from different group.  Players will be determine based on who placed pretty high on each match.  The top 16 players will advance to the next round.  No item will be used in this round and all will be done in one match.

Versus Round 2: Super Tetris 3 (Super Famicom)
Familiss Mode (4 player battle)
The top 16 players will be arranged in the 4 player battle.  The rule is the same as the first round except the only difference in this game is the screen is much smaller than the previous game (Super Tetris is 10 lines long while Super Tetris 3's Familiss mode is 7 lines long) and the long line counter is different.  Top 8 players will advance to the next round.  It will be all done in one match.

Round 3: Tetris (NES)
Type-B Mode Level 9 Height 0 high score
Each player will try to make the best score as possible before clearing 25 lines regardless of whether you clear 25 lines or you fail. The top 4 scores will advance to the next round.

Semi Final: Tetris Splash (XLA)
Vs. Mode
Top 4 player will be arranged in 1v1 battle. Rule is just survive!
Best 2 out of 3 matches.

Final Mystery Game
It's a secret if you can make it this far!
Best 3 out of 5 matches!

We like to announce a new tournament: Nintendo World Championship Tournament.

This is how the game works:
First phase is you go collect 50 coins in Super Mario Bros
Second phase is finish the track in Rad Racer
Last phase is get the most line as possible in Tetris
You have to get as far as you can and get the most score before the time runs out.

We will be using Nintendo World Championship Reproduction cartridge (No it's not the real thing).  We will be keeping track of your scores.  If you placed on the top 4, you will play the game one last time with a different time setting (I will decide how long to have the game set).

When? Day 3 @ 2pm

We're back!  For being our first success from last year we decided to do it again and the tournament will be even more ridiculous!  Players will test their skills by playing different games in each round.  Each round varies until conditions are met. Round 4: Mystery Game #1
Round 5: Mystery Game #2

How it's played?

Why are most of the fighting games PS3 only? >:(
xbox360's controller are pretty difficult to play on and most majority of the community prefer the PS3 controller over 360 version.  I tried the controller I can't do well with uppercut or even fireball that well compare to the PS3 controller.  PS3 controller remained the same since I grew up playing the SNES controller.  I already understand if they like to get use to all console they should stick to the fighting stick.

More signage. there needs to be an entire department dedicated to signage.
As long it doesn't point people using sign for cosplay purposes such as myself (see Brain Age cosplay).
