Ok, two things.  You said that it's standard for dealer's hall what does that have to do with Artist Alley?  Two what do unions have to do with this at all.  Everything I have can fit in a decent sized car, but that doesn't mean I can carry it all.

Thank you for your thoughts but it has resolved nothing for me.
Please calm down, as we're only trying to help. You might feel that our Dealer's Hall and Artist Alley are different, but for the intentions of space usage, they both follow the same union rules.

now that they have a new grand ballroom coming, the black & white ball would be a blast! a balcony? every classy cosplayer would be hanging out there!! :D
It is way too early to plan where things will be. :P

What if we decide to play Cosplay Settlers of Catan or something?!*

Hello and good day,

Thank you for messaging back.

Is the programming being done with the staff or is there a specific person to talk to for maybe next time?

Would this be different if they were to submit a request from an earlier date than they had this year, would they be able to be in Fanime? Or they would have to wait till next year?
Where they request to perform changes which department (and sometimes division) they contact, so I would prefer not to list out every possible e-mail address that this could be. We created the Event as a means for those that want to run Fan Events to have an option instead of planning events on the side that might or might not have been cleared by us (for reasons such as security, space, etc.).

As for your question about the timing for any year, greatly varies on what resources/staffing/etc. we have available. I wish I could tell anyone that asks about performing anywhere at FanimeCon a simple answer, but it really is quite difficult and the more elaborate the performance, the more difficult it is.

[Kinda ninja edit: Note that out of respect, I can't really comment on anything that they've submitted in detail.]

Is there any word on who the coordinator is, or plans to announce who's taken up the role?
My magic crystal is telling me: "Jack", "Ken", and "Stephanie".

Serious question - what can we do (as staffers) to help the wait before AA registration opens? Is there anything we can do besides "AA registration, omg!" ?

Quote from: megamanjoe415 on March 28, 2013, 01:53:57 PMHello and good day,

I have received a notice that Vocalekt Visions were rejected by Fanime this year for the panels and concert. The panel was just a showing on what vocaloid is and if people had questions about them.

The concert was a separate idea that they had and hoped they would have it during fanime as a sponser, which would have been great.

Even though Vocalekt Visions were not able to be part of Fanime, they will still try to make an appearance like they did last year.

Let's hope you please reconsider the idea and let Vocalekt Visions be part of Fanme this year as it would be great for the animated community and vocaloid lovers.

Thank you,
Joseph M.
Hi Joseph,
We have their contact information and if we have any questions, we can contact them directly. We have seen all of the feedback, but please keep in mind that there are some things out of our control when it comes to planning FanimeCon programming.

Ideas and Suggestions / Re: Blood Drive

Quote from: Xaara on March 28, 2013, 10:30:26 AMHello everyone. As everyone may know, last year Fanime 2012 had a blood drive with Stanford which I thought was wonderful. And I was wondering if anyone would enjoy that to happen again this year for Fanime 2013.
It is looking less likely, but we are still trying to plan it. We'll do the usual fanfare if we are able to have a FanimeCon 2013 blood drive... Otherwise, you'll have to wait until 2014 for us to take your blood. :D

Also, I wanted to let everyone know that the rules are now up on our website.

Registration / Re: Press Badge and Masquerade

Sorry if this has been answered in some format.  I have looked over all the appropriate FAQs and information and still didn't find this answer.

I have the opportunity to attend Fanime this year with a Press badge.  Looking at the Press information & FAQs I see that Press badge holders cannot participate in Masquerade (understandable).  If one does have a Press badge and wishes to participate in Masquerade, can they purchase any form of an attendee badge and participate?  Or is it a 'Press badge OR Attendee badge, not both' sort of thing?  I have no issue purchasing a day badge with my Press badge (if allowed) or purchasing a full weekend attendee badge (if it's the 'either/or' scenario), I just want to make sure I'm following the rules properly.  Thanks!
Hello,
I didn't realize that you had also sent a FB message to us and answered your question there. We generally prefer to have our attendees only carry around one badge type overall.

[Edit: Let me talk to our Extravaganzas division head and figure this out and get back to you.]

Information on HOW to register will be going up as early as today with a date and time of when the event's registration WILL be opening. I'll update this post as soon as that information is put up on the website.

I understand you're all super-busy, but your last update on Press registration was nearly two months ago, and it's two months until Fanime.  Anime Boston and other conventions occurring that same weekend have already had their Press info up for some time, can we please get an update on when Press registration for Fanime is going up?  Thanks!
It's looking like it'll go up next week. Lets hope that no last minute major issues come up.

Quote from: djmonolith on February 11, 2013, 05:56:36 PMYeah... the area at the top of the stairs, where the stage was, where the flyer table was... that area.
That area should not be changing. The stairs/escalators from the first floor that led to that area (on the second floor) is now gone though.

so then how would we be entering?
through the hotels or the side door near the outdoors convention parking lot?
Enter the second floor of the convention center? Through the stairs on the Marriott and Hilton side, as well as the elevators (I think two) elevators.

We will announce the registration date/time well ahead of time so that everyone will have time to prepare for it.

I have talked to the manager of the concert at the Gumi release. They are going to try to get a panel this year at fanime and hope all goes well!!! But that's what I heard. If you want to talk to them, join them at twitter search vocalekt visions.
I don't believe that a panel room will be sufficient in what they want to do (which is a concert).

While I do not have exact details, I can confirm that it's being worked on.

Quote from: Otakuya on March 16, 2013, 04:10:48 PMI believe that ordinance really only applies to large corporate company stores, so a private swap meet (a la, Fanime) should be ok with plastic bags or whatever. Even some local asian markets here still use plastic bags for free (until the City of SJ tells them not to)

Quote from: djmonolith on March 16, 2013, 04:41:35 PMIt is becoming increasingly difficult to find places that give you bags... even my little teeny neighborhood market is all freaked out to give you a bag for free.  Here is the official word on bags:

"The ban will extend to all retailers in the city, exempting restaurants and non-profit reuse organizations"
We are looking into exactly what will apply to our various events where things are being sold and will hopefully be able to give details before registration opens.
